Our winner last night was:
Last week brought me two incoming packages. One was from Jon (A Penny Sleeve for your thoughts), and the other was from Kevin (The Diamond King). Both bloggers were cleaning out some cards.
Jon hosted several giveaways where you claimed cards. Free cards are good. I like free cards. Jon had also been building a little stack of Braves for me also and mailed them all to me at one time.
The a day or so after receiving all of the above another package arrived from far across the country on the other coast. Kevin offered up some gets to comment on his card collecting tool/database he created (don't forget to patent it).
In the words of Batman POW! There may not have been as many here, but as you can see they carry just as big of a punch. Yeah they may have been cleaning out cards, but I definitely was cleaning up. Thanks Kevin.
The Batman cards are a little different to me because I'm not a non-sport collector and wouldn't have a clue on old-school and/or vintage non-sport issues.
ReplyDeleteThat pink Simmons is cool looking. Glad the cards made it!
ReplyDeleteI seriously considered going for those Batman cards ( opted for Angels) because they are so cool!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you didn't. Love them.
DeleteNice action shot on that Simmons!
ReplyDeleteSUPERMAN! 10 YEARS AGO THAT WOULD HAVE GONE IN A MINI COLLECTION i CALLED sUPERMAN Oops! caps on. Anyways I dumped those in 2015 I think Julie scooped them up.
DeleteNice cards from Jon! I snagged a few myself also. Thank you, all bloggers that encourage me, to read. I was a Literacy Tutor at a local Elementary school for a couple of years encouraging K-3 students to get better at their reading skills.
ReplyDeleteEddie Mathews and Tom Seaver in an '82 design - is that supposed to be a gold border? Orange? Beige? Unusual color choice but not bad. Seaver photo looks like his '73 card.
ReplyDeleteThe Mathews is gold from 2013 Archives, the Seaver is 2012 gold (supposed to have #d 199, but looks like only 153).
DeleteNothing wrong with that Batman set, probably my favorite nonsport set from the '60s. .... I'm one of the few bloggers it seems who doesn't collect Ichiro, so I wasn't standing in your way.
ReplyDeleteI might have the base version of that Lineage Mize if you need it. Some great cards you got.
ReplyDeleteLove the Batmans. I grabbed a few of those for my kids a few years ago (who still prefer "original" Batman to al the newfangled ones). Also really like the 2002 Topps Post design (have 5 including Ichiro and Aurilia. No idea where I got them). And LOL at whoever thought "Future Fiber" was a good name for an insert instead of something to help your digestion.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff from Jon and Kevin. I was happy to get one of those Batman cards and stayed away from the Ichiro 3K hits ones since I don't know which I had.
ReplyDeleteCool diving shot on the Simmons card!
ReplyDeleteThe '66 Batman sets are easily some of the best non-sport sets ever produced.
ReplyDeleteI doubt I'll ever go for the complete set... but every now and then I'll see one of those vintage Batman cards I'd like to add to the collection. This time it was the Counterfeit Caped Crusader. Awesome art.
