Hump day!
Gotta run have a good night.
A blog about the cards I get awesome deals on, cards that I have available to trade, trades and our hobby in general. I collect Braves cards (all of them) and T206 White Borders.
One might think that team collector's like myself (Braves) and Greg (Dodgers) wouldn't need a lot of cards of our teams from the 80's. We both have exceeded 30K in our team collections yet there are still so many cards out there that slip by.... at least for me they have. I'm sure other team collector's like Tom (Angels), and those West coasters who don't collect Dodgers (A's and Padres), and Michael (Rangers) not to mention those other Yankees fans (AJ and Bo) and plenty of others can attest that there is just so much that we don't have. My last shipment for SLOTS proves that easily.
Have a great night everyone!
Well here we are. I did find myself perusing the Tampa card show (let's hope I don't get sick again). I didn't get a lot, but I did get a little bit. More than say I grabbed from the show in The Villages. Let's get to the Sport Lots Braves pretty pictures.
Let's get the rant out of the way. Topps did it again. Yep.... just like the Topps Flagship release the 2025 Bowman is out at the Bowman Chrome Prospects have 59 versions of each base card. The base plus 58 parallels the same as the Topps Flagship. The base (paper) set there are just 24 versions and the same for the paper prospects. There are 634 different Braves cards in 2025 Bowman. ABSOLUTELY NUTS!
So far this year there have been 3,563 unique Braves released of which just 61 ARE MAIN SET CARDS and 236 inserts. You ask where are the balance? Okay there 1,664 parallels of the main set cards and 1,602 parallels of the inserts.
Alrighty then my rant is over.
Have a great weekend.
I posted my current status on my Chase to #1 last week after receiving and listing my Braves haul from the last Sport Lots order. I haven't posted them though. Tonight we start with the first half of the new to me Braves from the 2000's. I'll get the rest of the new to me Braves 2000's on Monday I guess. Following those up with the 80's additions.
That half of the 2000's Braves. I'll get the rest done next week including the 80's, 90's, and those after the 2000's.
In case you're wondering why i started with the 2000's instead of the 80's it's because those scans pulled up first in the folders.
The streak ended with 5. That's okay we'll start a new one now.
It is trivia night.
The last week was a good week for my Braves. (psst. That is me making lemonade out of lemons). I mentioned a couple weeks back that I grabbed some Braves from a "new to me" shop in G'ville that has been there for over 2 decades. My memory wasn't good.
I picked 18 Braves cards.
Either way I am inching my way forward and at some point tonight I will do a check to see how many "the other guy" has added. I should be ready to start posting the Braves from that last HUGE SLOTS order by Thursday.
Have a great night!
It is time for another Easter tribute. I hope that everyone enjoyed yesterday. In honor of the RISEN Christ. Every year I post some cards of ball players that are sporting typically a crucifix. Because the date changes year to year there aren't any cards celebrating a specific birthday, so jewelry will have to do (and a bunny or two).
Real quick one today jumping right to the shadows.
Maybe it is just a Mad Hungarian.
Tonight's cards were brought to you via Padrographs. Rod has sent out a bunch of cards early into the baseball season. Here are my goodies.
I only scanned the new to me Braves (he sent a bunch more), and what you see above bumped me up 9 Braves when I got them. Thanks Rod.
Have a great night folks, see ya on Saturday!
The week is moving slowly probably because I am planning on hitting the card show in The Villages on Saturday. I hope to find some deals this go around. The last two not so lucky. We'll see.
In case you are wondering about the Grand Gainers, back when I first put them in the binder I had no idea there were a dozen parallels of these cards. Yes a dozen parallels of an insert set back in 1989.
Going for #1 UPDATE: As of today I have Atlanta Braves unique 31,900, and that other guy has 32,519. (short 619 cards)
I do currently hold the #1 spot for Milwaukee Braves with 1,332, him 1,103 tied for 2nd.
Boston Braves has me in #3 spot with 432 (#1 has 538), him #10 with 209.
grand totals: (all 3 team cities): me 33,664 him 33,831 putting me back just 167 cards.
This day is Jackie Robinson Day. I got that $10.00 check from Uncle Sam yesterday BTW.
For those of you who weren't reading this blog a year ago or maybe just missed it. On this day I do a JRD annual post. Not one highlighting his cards or accomplishments. Nope. I have a slight take on how I honor one of the greatest ball players in history.
First I will show 2 cards highlighting Jackie's jersey number....um retired jersey number. REtired the number in 1997.
One card will be a front view the other the back. After that I will show cards of players that also wore #42 in their playing days. Then I will show how Topps attempts at honoring the day, the latter still being used today. I'll even throw in a single Donruss card commemorating the day (but it is an awful attempt). HERE WE GO!
My tribute to one of the greatest baseball players of all time. (I hear he was very very good at other sports too). :)
