Daryl part 2

Tonight we close out the remaining .15ers from Daryl. Well, there was one card that was definitely not .15.

The only thing that could have sweetened the Mother's cookies on the Felipe is if he was wearing a Braves uniform. It's a shame that they didn't do those cards for east coast teams. But oh well. There are still Johnston cookies out there that did (I don't own any originals.....yet).

You're not seeing dupes, one of each of those Bowman's Best cards are refractors.

A dime plus a nickel netted me a 2015 Bowman Prospect Kris Bryant that I'm pretty sure I don't need, but wasn't going to leave it in the box.

Now for the "one card".

A 56' Eddie Mathews for my set build. Although I'll have to check my PC to see which one is better and where it should go. I'm always torn as to whether the better card goes into a set build or the PC.

The next several posts will be from a couple. Definitely my best purchase of the day.

Back to the card show (Jax) cards.

With the cards I picked up from Fred out of the way, we can move on to cards from Daryl.

Only needed the Mazzone, the Freeman in the middle spot.

Daryl had all of these cards in his quarter box and I wound up paying fifteen cents each. I'm okay with that.

That includes this complete set of Griffey cards. In fact I picked up two complete sets at .15 each ($1.50 a set).  I'll give away the extra set in the near future.

I'll finish Daryl's cards tomorrow, one card was not from the cheap boxes.

6 more completed Braves team sets

As I mentioned in yesterday's post I had a couple of team sets q'd up to take down.  I got my CardBarrel order in last night.

First up:

The base card was the last card needed for the 2010 Bowman Braves, as was the gold Chipper. Bam. 2 done.

Here we have the 2021 Topps Chrome Update Braves team set.  I do however, have an issue. Look at the backs and see if you can see what it is.

In case you can't see it. Three of the cards are labeled as Chrome and 1 is labeled as Update series. I checked, they are the way it is for the base cards. Makes absolutely no sense to me why there would be a difference.  Either way another team set done.

U can take the top two cards and call that a team set from 2022 Bowman: Prospects.

The remaining five are the completed Braves team set from the "paper" set.

My 2022 Donruss team set complete. I also "own" the variation Acuna but it is sitting in my SportLots box.

That was 6 more team sets knocked out with one fell swoop. I even managed to grab a few extras.

The Strider is actually purple (not blue) Both of the inserts on the bottom are Rapture parallels (retail).

I might as well

I might as well put out my most recent 2022 Braves team set completion (even if it is technically a 2021 set).

Pache was the last base card I needed. I even have some orange and an electric blue. The candy lid is not from Big League, it is from 2022 Heritage. Next Braves sets to knock out will be Donruss, Bowman run, and Diamond Kings.

The last few from Fred

Wrapping up the last scans That I picked up from my buddy Fred in Jax.

I did a little more "cheap prospecting".

I'm pretty sure this guy has a future in the MLB.

Supposedly, Julio's cards are on fire these days.

Pickings were getting slim so I grabbed 4 more Adell with hopes.

We'll see what comes around for Spencer.

Have a great night!

Fred's table part 2

As usual I grabbed a handful of cards from my buddy Fred.

As per Fred's usual he gave me at no cost a 400 count box of Topps Series 1 and Opening Day. (I was hoping for Big League, Bowman, and Donruss). Maybe next month. Fred always leaves the stars, parallels and inserts in there. I appreciate them. Now with the Braves, I needed the purple Freeman, the Elite Pache, the mojo Pache, and the silver pack Freeman. The rest I already had.

I grabbed some non sports vintage with the Gun Smoke and Brady Bunch, and the Presidential candidate cards. The Marilyn Monroe cards were not vintage. they are modern earring backer cards, lol.

Super steal on the Jordan.

The Bart swatch card cost me .75. As did the Sisler proof and Williams framed card. I was especially happy to get the Griffey inaugural Marlins card for .75. I'll finish up Fred's card tomorrow.

Jax card show

I was able to head over to Jacksonville for the monthly card show. Normally, I would stay until the show was over, but I headed back at 11am. It's not that there wasn't much there. There was plenty. Too many people early on kept me uneasy for some reason. I hit up my normal tables starting with Fred, then Daryl, Eddie, and made the walk around twice. I was done when my hip started giving me a fit.

I made basically 4 purchases and plan on spreading them out over the course of this month. Fred first.

I seen this sheet of oddball's from 1992 Cartwright's. I already own the Justice the only Braves. All but one of the cards are PC guys, so why not for a buck. I have the Gold base Maddux from 1994 and the rarer Blue too.

The cards have backs too. No way am I storing this sheet so I broke the individual cards from there prison.

Here are the eight PC guys (includes the Justice I already owned). I put in a normal card so you can see how well I did cutting them out. I think I did well and proud of that. I was thrown off at first because of the gold border on the sheet. I cut the cards as if the gold was supposed to be on the cards. Quickly realizing that they're too big. I then compared to a normal card and said ahhh..... no gold the cards are black. I cut them all again and bingo, right on the money. I'll have so more from Fred tomorrow. I wound up with just over a 100 cards from Fred.

To honor your mom and your better half

That is if you have a better half, if not then just for your mom (or grandma) or anyone else who deserves praise on this day. Bless them and love them (everyday). I lost my mom 7 years ago last month. I miss her everyday. She was a remarkable woman and my hero. Just amazing, I miss you mom. And no, I'm not staying out of trouble :).

God bless those mama's!

Cinco de Mayo

Don't drink the water but the cerveza's are okay.

Mr. Warren celebrates his birthday on this day. He has a grand total of 24 different baseball cards covering his 7 years in the minor league. Yes, there are several other players that share this birthdate. I am just too lazy to pull out any other cards and this one is sitting in the scan file under "Cinco".

My the Fourth be with you. LOL.

I haven't posted since last Wednesday. All is well, just prioritizing other stuff this past week. I hope to head to Jax. for a card show this coming Saturday. Meanwhile, When I went back home last month for that card show (the one with all of the Fleer vintage), I also picked up some Star Wars stuff. Initially, I had my nephew in mind as he is a huge fan.

Two carry cases with figures.

There were also more dupes than the ones in case 2. I bagged them (about 20-30 of them).

Not really sure what I am going to wind up doing with these. Most of the figures appear to be from The Empire Strikes Back.

The Learning curve.

While cruising the aisles at the card show back home. I stumbled across the Canseco from this set. The seller then flipped to a folder with 35 of the cards from the set in it. I made an offer on the lot, but forgot the Canseco laying on the side. My bad. The set has 55 cards total. (I think).

These are the keepers (PC) from the lot. 24 out of 35 not bad. I regret forgetting the Canseco laying off to the side. Oh well. I should be hitting the road back to Valdosta in the morning so I doubt I will have a Thursday post.

Fleer Laughlin Black backs.

As I promised here are the Black Back Laughlin's from 1971.

Not a lot to say here.

I was able to get an even bigger stack of these. Like the blue backs, I now have plenty of dupes.  I have put a want list for the needed cards under set builds and misc.

I have another post from the Villages card show, but they are not Fleer, nor vintage. Interesting yes.
