A very cold day to start (for here). Ormond today

Made my way over to Ormond today, that is after the ice melted off of the vehicle. I'm in Florida dang gone it. Anyway, probably my last trip over there for a few months. Or at least that was the plan. I was hoping to gather up all of the dime cards I wanted from the last 6 baseball sets released. I wound up with cards from three of those sets. Topps Holiday PC guys and rookies (I already have the set completed), and whatever Braves I could find in the dime boxes. I will have a Holiday post next month. I grabbed up about a thousand Pro Debut, just to fill the 3 row box I was trying/hoping to fill. We'll call those prospects, lol. The last newly released set I found was Archives. Grabbed Braves, PC guys, and rookies again. They are still sorting the Chrome update, Didn't see any Select or Chronicles, and they haven't got any Stadium Club yet.  So I am figuring one more trip for me to close out the 2023 cards, probably in a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, I dropped a whopping $30.00 with Kyle today. $20.00 for the monster box (I used my own box otherwise it would have cost 25). $10.00 is what Kyle charged me for what you'll see here tonight plus 11 Ornaments from that Holiday set I'll show SOON. Those alone are completely worth the ten bucks.

I pulled these from Kyle's dollar boxes (minus the small Kershaw box topper). Again worth the ten smackers. However, there were these too.

A & G large box loaders like 6x9 or maybe 5x8 size.  They also came in those oversize top loaders, which just those alone would be worth the money.

Yes, I grabbed dupes on purpose. I know who may want one of the extra Kershaw's. I'm sure somebody out there does or the other one.

Yep, an extra DeGrom and Verlander.

Last one was this one.

It had already been ripped but I don't care. Those 10 box loaders were worth $10.00 all by themselves too. Besides the $30.00 I spent with Kyle, I did make a somewhat healthy purchase in the shop from a buddy's personal collection. More on that in the coming days.

I'm confident everyone will agree that I got my $10.00 worth with the cards above PLUS the 11 Ornaments (including Trout)!

TRADE NIGHT: GUARDIANS/INDIANS

Looks like we are getting closer to the middle of the alphabet.

I pulled Minnie out.

Next week get into the M's with the Mariners. Not a lot of them, but enough.

Incoming baseball cards

I hope that everyone had a great weekend. I did even though I didn't get my daughters together at the same time I did spend time with them.

In other good news the OCT trading period ended this weekend and I came out on top.

The 92nd OCT Trading Period was our 2nd best 8/24-11/24 Trading Period in the last five years as we managed to make 433 Trades.

Congrats go out to John Miller for leading the pack with 107 Trades this Trading Period.

He has now accomplished this feat 9 Times. That is second only to Bob DAngelo! (28).

I am now sitting at 2,650 trades (10 years in this group: 35 members). I believe that is 5th all-time. Only 4 members have ever reached the BIG 3K in the group's 25 year history. I do plan on hitting that mark sometime in 2024.

Moving on to a package that I received from Angels in Order. Tom actually sent me two one being a PWE. I am pretty sure I already posted the first batch so I think these are from the second.

1982 Post needs.

Complete with tabs.

1983 Post also complete with tabs along with some coupons at the time.

Tom included some Braves too and these two were the highlights, both needs. Thanks Tom!

Tomorrow night is another TRADE NIGHT with the Indians/Guardians.

We're #1: part 4

Picking up with the next traunch of cards in this Franken-Set.

I really don't understand why Topps made a parallel of the checklist in 2003. Or any other year, especially when the only thing that changed was the checklists and the colors used.

We'll finish this set up next week. Have a great weekend and I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I wish everyone out there a Happy Thanksgiving. I'd also like to thank everyone out there who take time to give this old blog a peek. When my kids were little (and at home) I had a tradition more of a Thanksgiving Day speech where I custom wrote each year highlighting something about each person sitting at the table. I would plan for months, sometimes all year really. When something happened in one of my loved ones lives that I knew might be good for the speech (memorable) I would jot it down in a notebook. As the kids grew and they were more active outside the house the list grew too as did the speech. I looked forward to making that speech each year. I miss that, the kids I'm sure don't (sometimes it could embarrass them- yes I took pleasure in that then and now). Life is full of gifts if you just look for them. My mom would call those gifts favors. I won't get to share Thanksgiving Day with any of my kids in person this year, but I will be able to spend it with my brother, one of my sister's, and her family. Something that I haven't been able to do without having to spend 6 hours driving up and straight back immediately after eating in a very long time. That is a blessing to be thankful for. I will get to see Hunter and Christy this weekend though and that too I'm thankful for, especially if I get to see them at the same time. That I am praying for because that hasn't happened in 12 years. There is a small chance on Saturday. I am thankful for so much that I couldn't possibly put it all in this post (I wouldn't do that to y'all). I am certainly grateful for baseball cards and the opportunities collecting them has provided me with. Friends that wouldn't be with some I've met and some unmet and may never meet in person. Nonetheless, still friends. I am thankful for all of you.

Incoming from Bo!

Several weeks back Bo sent me a few O-Pee-Chee cards. Here they are.

I am building the OPC sets. I have a lot of them completed and shy just 1 for the 78' set.  Thanks BO!

TRADE NIGHT: Expos and Giants

Didn't have a lot of either of these teams so grouping them together makes for a decent post. Find something you like e-mail me with a trade offer.  jfmjr1@aol.com

I know that I could pull that PINK auto/relic, but I figure a Giants fan would be happier with it in their collection.

That does wrap up the TRADE NIGHT for tonight. Next week is the Indians/Guardians.

Cartoons

First things first. The sky was blue yesterday, yeah. Sunshine. Cool, but still sun. Got to have that sun disc shining down on me.

I still haven't decided what will be the next mini collection highlighted. So tonight we have a quick post with a few more cartoons from that book.

I couldn't have said it any better.

That is realistic too.

Hmm.

These should be the last of those I post from the book. Made for great filler. The next couple of days will be more incoming cards from fellow bloggers/readers.

Now time for a PIMP! No....not my side hustle. Nachos Grande is running his 3rd annual end of the year blog awards. Go check him out and VOTE!

I hope that your week is a good one!

Franken Friday: We're #1

Another week, another Franken-Set round. The third in this "set".

Might as well provide an update or two while I am at it. My back is doing better although the rain doesn't help at all. I haven't seen the sun for nearly a week. I need the sun, the warmth. I hope I get some this weekend.

I hope that everyone has a great weekend.
