1999 FINEST plus the Contest

The 1999 Finest set is a 300 card set. A couple of different designs. I like it. I picked this up as a complete set last month. This is the last complete set (High End builds) that I have for now.

The set came with the 4 checklist cards. I like that too.

The first card on the scans has "scuff looking" marks. It was a dirty scan bed, I cleaned it sort of near the end.

The mid hundred of the set is to me the best looking of this set.

Hammerin' Hank for card #300, and that other guy, lol. The card backs are okay too, slight difference on the other front design backs too. I noticed quite a few back of auto signing.

Last night's contest winner was:  Derek, he was the only commenter. Please e-mail me your address.

Now for the cards up tonight:

Oh look the more than likely MVP for 2022. Have a great weekend. Monday should start the first ComC haul.

  1. I like the 99 set too. I would never peel the 'protective coating', but man, when you see them all in scans like that, it is distracting. I'm glad they don't do that anymore.

    1. It is tempting to peel it off because they are going straight into a binder, but I won't.

  2. Judge is really the MVP - he's been carrying the team and he can't do it alone. He's pretty much their only consistent hitter. Now that the pitching is worn down the Yankees are falling apart quickly . . .

  3. Have a bunch of those cards in a binder, were they've been since '99.

I see that Hank Greenberg card.

    Good Job! 👍

  4. Finest is one set that I always liked year after year... Was there a year they released a parallel set with no protector?

This one https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/11080 or did people just peel the protector and make a set out of it?

    1. One year they did have a set with a parallel "no protector" which was nuts, because if you pulled the protector off (I did back then) there was zero difference.

  5. 1999 is one of my favorite Finest baseball designs. As for Judge... it's fun keeping track of his home runs. Tonight is the perfect outcome. He hit a home run, but the Yankees lost.

  6. I didn't like peels on cards when they were new, and all these years later, I dislike them even more.
