Incoming: round one. Plus an Out going.

 Well my Braves got whooped last night night, shutout. OUCH. Me no likey that. Something else that I don't like (pertaining to my current PC update) is when I come across a player who spent some time, but not exclusive with the Braves. Such is the case with Gary Sheffield. I should have before kick starting this PC update a year and a half ago, weened the mostly Braves cards from the binders that were put in there during the last update because they should have in the Braves binders. Not all of them as I had to do some weening at the beginning of this year too, but I didn't get everybody who had Braves cards. I have to check to see if they were actually dupes, or if they need to be in my Braves binder a very time consuming process for me. Also back in January I realized that I hadn't pull the Braves cards from the sorted cards for this years update, another huge time suck, and when adding to cards that I decided to build the set this year, ugh. 

I am almost done with Shef, but the other half of the S's all the way through Z is making me wonder if I'll actually finish this year, lol. That would suck because I have lolly gagged around several months this year alone. Oh well, let's see what baseball cards I have for you tonight.

Let's show off round 1 of some incoming cards. The pair of Red parallels above come from OCTer Andy Blackwood, both were needs. Funny is the Harris in the base set is an SP (still needed), but the parallels aren't. Go figure Topps.

I grabbed this less than a Lincoln (remember that theme I used to do)? off of Ebay. Normally I wouldn't pay $5.00 (plus 1.50 shipping) for a prospect. But come on it is a Brave one of one. I had too. After winning this Holton card I did a little prospecting on Ebay, and the next round of incoming might have another of his. Might have. :)

 

This year's BCB custom BUBBLEs from Gavin. Gav said he got lazy with the backs, but I love it. It even reminds me of a non-related southern joke.....Georgia specific.

Closing out this round with the cards that came in first of all of these were from our highly caffeinated Matt G. These were Braves needs too.

Wacky Wednesday

 Man the Braves lost another former player yesterday with the passing of Bob Horner. That's three in less than 2 weeks. OUCH! RIP Mr. Horner. At least the Braves one game 1 against the BoSox. Money Mike (Harris) had a great game going 4 for 4.

Grand Slam again!

 Let's get this out of the way....My Braves lost their 2nd series of the year to the Nat's over the holiday weekend. Alrighty then. I'm over it moving on to more from that previously mentioned and posted trip to my LCS which should wrap up that visit. 

(I went again this weekend).

Another $20.00 grab was an opened box of these 2025's. Typically the hobby boxes sell between $139-150.00, so getting a slew of them was nice for a set build and some obvious prospecting. These are just the numbered parallels above.

Finally.....more inserts. Overall I wound up with 3 Braves for my team sets, and 68 of the 200 card base set plus the inserts and parallels above. That to me was worth the twenty bucks, but that wasn't it all.....

Just the highlights as I grabbed another opened box of the 2026 USA Stars & Stripes that had about as many cards in it as the other box. Wound up with 73/200 base cards plus the other stuff. Again, definitely got my twenty bucks worth in this post. 

Hoping my Braves get back on a winning streak and finish the first half of the season strong. 

Happy Memorial Day

 The winner last week on the Maddux cards was San Jose Fuji. Mark call it a double dip, as Mr. Sharp told me to give his winnings from the week before to someone else. I'll put both "stacks" in your stack. I should be doing a broad mailing real soon. As for this week....No Maddux Monday.

In honor of Memorial Day we will highlight a few Memorial Day cards.

Lots of people all over the U.S. place mini US Flags on the gravesites of fallen service men and women, and though this tradition started at Arlington and was meant for those KIA it is still widely accepted on the local scale and is appreciated. God bless the U.S.A!

Grand Slam Braves

 I've been very pleased with the Braves thus far this season. I was more pleased this week by adding a $20.00 splurge of Braves from my LCS.

I had never seen those Waldo Candies cards before last week. Apparently there are 4 cards in the set. They had them all, but I only wanted the one Braves card. These 4 cards above came from the wooden box.

The first 4 cards here came from those cheap boxes I mentioned this week, and will post up the rest of that batch probably Tuesday. The Rainbow Braves card also came from that "Topps" box I highlighted yesterday. Spencer here came from the wood box and had an $8.00 tag on it. But the big one in the batch is below.

A ONE OF ONE Cam Caminiti auto. This one had a #13.00 tag on it. I offered Steve (the shop owner) $20.00 for the 6 wood box gets here plus 2 others that I didn't need, oh well. I already had a Cam auto, but a 1/1 which all of the base set cards from 2025 Leaf Vivid are 1/1's was still a nice add.

Grand Slam Sports

 Last week I stopped in my LCS for the second time this month. I will say that I certainly spent more than $4.00 this time. I didn't get a ton of cards....maybe 7-800 or so. Enough to make 3 posts out if it. No, I won't be highlighting them all. I spent $60.00 and are broken down into 3 $20.00 lots. I will show the new to me Braves I got for one of those posts, and the other two are groups by prospects and 2026 Topps/PC.

The reasoning. I grabbed an opened boxed of 2026 Topps from the "cheap stuff" which was mainly 2026 Topps series 1, but as you'll see here tonight not all of what I filled that box with was those those although I did get a near set minus 18 cards.

1, 4, 25, 90, 100, 104, 111, 135, 138, 150, 170, 189, 200, 214, 216, 283, 312, 328. These I still need, but tonight's highlights are basically cards for my PC's and are inserts for the most part.

Quite a few (4) "mini collection" grabs in those last 2 scans.

I had to squeeze the Archives Snapshots cards in the box too.  The cards in the scans tonight certainly cover at least half of the $20.00 of this grouping and then add in the ONE near set of 2026 Topps plus I'd say a couple of hundred more dupes/extras of which I already made 20 trades with over at OCT and mailed those off already too. I got my $20.00 worth on this portion of the deal.

Tomorrow being Friday, I'll go easy and do the Braves $20.00 section to start off the weekend.

Wacky Wednesday

 Heading to trivia tonight, and hoping for another repeat (just this time I hope to actually double up with the championship/final question). It will just be my brother and me. The kids got other things going on today/tonight.

Here are this week's interesting cards for whatever reason.

I always liked those Christy Brinkley cards from 96' Pinnacle. The 4 here were dupes/trips so they fit nicely in the Wacky binders. Throw in the shirtless Gant, the bat shavings, the kid shot, and closing out with one heck of mustache.

 Look what I got. Two weeks ago I mentioned that I bit the bullet and bought a complete set of the 2025 Topps Chrome Star Wars Galaxy. Here it is..

More from the Free stuff

 There was another group of cards in that box last week that the kids just weren't in to, and that is a shame. This time a totally different Historical Autograph company set.

One that just so happens to be right up my alley.

Parallels numbered to just 25, and a relic too! Not that I actually consider a .22 stamp a relic. I remember stamps costing less than that. Take this as your reminder to buy your stamp stock pile before July when they go up again.

The First Ladies inserts are numbered to 30.

Some of the free stuff

 Last week I grabbed up some of the free cards that I knew "kids" would never be interested in. Face it, if it ain't their team or guy or something they can flip they are not interested. Not that I wasn't happy with the $4.00 I spent earlier in the shop....I was. I was pretty stoked about the cards I removed from that kid's freebie box.

An opened box of the 2025 Historic Autograph company. No idea if any cards were actually kept by whoever ripped the packs, but needless to say the kids have no idea or interest in these cards.

The "common" base cards have a print run of 800, the subsets and parallels are numbered much lower (like the ones above).

I sorted these while waiting on my neighbor at the hospital. I'll have another surprise from the freebies tomorrow.
