Going on a Crusade

Getting to the middle of the lineup here. This journey will take us through the Crusade which leads to the Elite, you know the Gold Standard of people often leaving a Legacy, Limited as it may be.

My guess is that I am half way done with the multi brand set. That is a bit off target for me, but then again I have yet to complete a whole year yet. I had fun on the three minutes I spent "punning" the set brands at the top of this post. Got to find bright spots where you can.

The Elite are nice looking cards, good and thick too.

Here we go again, I have no idea why 4 of the 5 cards look orange, they are not, they are Gold..... Gold Standard. These are one of the tougher sets to put together. Rather blank looking too.

Great stopping point here. Thursday, I'll lead off (loving the baseball verbage) with Magnitude one of the toughest and costlier sets to put together.

My uncle seemed a little more with it this morning, still not his usual which is where he was this weekend, but as the day progresses I hope that he too will do better. It is supposed to get to 70 today. Not bad for being in the very cold recently. Damn Artic air had it down to 19 here without the wind chill. Thank goodness that wind only lasted a day here. We should have 4 days of this 70 degree weather before the next front. Going to get Uncle Fred some sunshine this week.

Night time update on Fred, the day was okay, he wasn't cooperative at dinner. Everything tastes like dirt to him. Nothing I can do about that. He is also protein deficient right now, so I have to sneak that in some how as the two things he spits out the most is chicken and eggs. Hitting the muscle builders section at the Rx tomorrow for some powder, hopefully he won't taste or feel that in some ice cream. Prayers appreciated.

  1. Good call on the protein powder. Hope he improves! That's quite the selection of cards. I'm jealous of the sheer volume of cards you have coming in.

  2. I don't know how you keep track of all those.

Prayers for you and your uncle. You're doing The Man's work.

  3. Can he eat bacon? That's some pretty tasty protein. Sneaking the protein powder in ice cream is pretty smart. Hope he doesn't notice.

    1. He has trouble with Bacon, but he used to love it. The problem now is other than ice cream everything tastes like dirt or bitter. Taste buds seemed altered in a bad way.

  4. Was hoping to see some '98 Crusade here! Good luck with the set.

Hoping your uncle's recovering starts to pick up the pace.

  5. I have no doubt that you'll figure out some way for him to get the protein that he needs :)

  6. It may take awhile for the taste/smell to come back. My wife and I had Covid over a year ago and some things still smell bad to my wife.

    1. He is stubborn, and won't tolerate it. He will not eat or drink if the taste is off. I'm going to lose him to malnutrition. I tried the protein powder, blended into ice cream, wouldn't eat it (sticks to his teeth). Says it ain't worth it. I am so distraught. What is weird is that he didn't lose his taste buds until after he was finished with the Rendesvir (Sunday 1:30 am), they gave him sleeping pills that knocked him out (against my specific orders with full POA)for 3 days no food/drink (no I.v nutrients either) his body swelled up from protein deficiency. He is so miserable. Prior to the sleeping pill on Saturday he was eating and drinking. Now everything is "bitter". I'll keep trying to find away to get the protein in him.

  7. I really like the shields on that top set. Also the slashy lines on the next one.

    Prayers to your uncle.
