I could easily throw in some scans of some cards here, but no I'm not going too. I will use this special number post for something special. Very special, and I am shocked that I haven't seen anything on my blog roll about from yesterday or today. So I 'll do it here. It is that special.

MLB has now included the 7 Negro League teams/players into the Major League classification. Well past due. Now maybe we will see some more of those guys in the sets (once they get the licensing re-done).

Yes, I do have that great set, but I posted it in it's entirety earlier this year.

  1. I read about the great news over on CinciCuse Bill's blog this morning:

And I hope you're right and we start seeing more of these guys being showcased on cards.

    2. I read it there too. I've pretty much stopped checking online news sites, including sports sites, this year, and I've gotten a lot of my baseball news from the card blogs, including just about all the notable baseball deaths this year.

You'd hope Topps will do the right thing, but who knows?

      Congrats on 2K!

    And congrats on 2K.

  3. Yeah, I'd love to see more cards of Negro League players on their Negro League teams. It's a shame this took so long, so for the most part autographed cards wouldn't be possible. (Of course, many of those great players were gone before cards which came autographed were even a thing, but there were some who were still around such as Buck O'Neil, who passed in 2006.)

  4. Congrats on 2,000 posts! I'm happy to see the Negro Leagues get a well deserved designation. My only disappointment was that the home runs Hank Aaron hit there won't count towards his total.

  5. Yeah. I heard about that. Should probably read up on the details before weighing in with my opinion.

  6. Congrats on 2K posts! Took MLB long enough to get them included. And it's way past overdue to get these players into more card sets.
