Dang it

Happy Monday all. I've been scanning my butt off all weekend (and today) long. More on what in a later post. Tonight is gonna be a quickie. Why....because blogger isn't allowing me to upload anything.

It's later and working. 

I'm still working on putting together this set for my Christmas (Holiday) binder. I grabbed those top three off of Ebay for $3.48 dvd. Not bad with 2 rare ones. The Riley also came from Ebay, but not a good deal. Not bad either just not like the top 3. I also picked up the rare Trout and Hoskins for a $3 and change too, but forgot to scan them.


It is unlikely that I will have this set anywhere near complete by this Christmas, but I try.

Bingo Braves from Dgao

Dgao joins in for two rounds of Bingo (Sat. June 20th 8pm), and July ( date & time yet to be determined).

David sent me 6 cards.  1 wasn't a Braves card, and the other one (Studio Stars insert that I already had). But, these 4 I needed and gets him entry into both rounds of the BINGO games. Looking forward to the first round next Saturday night. I've got the prizes picked out already for the (3) easy Bingos and for the BLACKOUT (so cool). Now I need to come up with the double Bingo prize. I'll do that sometime this weekend.

I'm eating a Jimmy Dean Sausage, egg, and Cheese biscuit right now. Now, of course by the time you are reading this another 8 hours or so have passed and I will have eaten a whole lot more. Now this isn't Twitter or Instagram where people apparently post anything and everything they do. No...... not me. i don't do those things. I just wanted to start off tonight's post a little different. Wow, I guess my Jimmy Dean baseball cards would be a great set to post right about now, but nope.

Just some formerly missing Braves. Not that they were really missing, I just didn't own them before.

Yes, the time spent waiting on that last shipment from BCW was spent on Sportlots filling in holes in my Braves needs and of course my set builds with some PC guys mixed in too.

How is it that I did not have these in my collection? I don't know, but no longer are they needs for the Braves team. I can only hope that the ones for Flagship Brands are in the set builds already like the Fleer Tradition and Pacific sets. Otherwise I'll be getting them again.

Now for some more recent "odd balls"

Just the Acuna as far as Braves go, but the rest of the 582 Montgomery cards are for my PC's.

You would think that for such an exclusive member based set/brand of cards that Topps would have been just a wee bit more creative on the backs. The fronts are okay, maybe a white border to spruce them up a bit. I've got 1 more Sportlots post in the scan files. I still have that cart full of stuff over there, and looks like I'll have to pull the trigger as I await another order (which I have yet to place with BCW).  I am leaning hard as to attending the July 4th card show. We'll see.

Two questions for you......What did you have for breakfast today? and What are you doing for Independence Day?  Talk about unrelated questions. You can't get further apart than those two.

Wacky Wednesday. Original 1974 Series 7

Here is another set that I have (technically) completed. At least I say so. It has 33 stickers and 1 variation of an actual sticker. Grime Heavy Chunks is that sticker ($100.00), and I do not have it. The rest of the stickers are valued at $3.00 each even though the Big Muc is considered tough it too is only at $3 bucks. I do have a puzzle set, but no wrapper or unopened pack. There are also the typical * and ** variations.

With no card shows (until July 4th) these last several months (5 months to be exact), my online purchases most definitely increased. My commitment was to use the money not being spent at shows on pages and binders which I did. Reminds me I need to order more. The last batch only lasted 1 week. This past week.  2 1/2 cases of pages, and 36 binders (I still have 12 blue binders left). No where I went overboard was all of the Cardbarrel, Sportlots, ComC (which should arrive in Sept.), and Ebay. All out of budget, today's budget. Probably right inline with 2 and 3 decades ago. I may have to reconsider and GO to the show in July.  Maybe that will curb my appetite. I don't know. We'll see.

Anyways, I laid the groundwork for tonight's post last night. From time to time I peek over at OPC.com to see what I can scoop up. They were doing a special on "lesser conditioned" HOFers.


I grabbed 5 cards.

Yes, most definitely "lesser conditioned". 1953 Bowman color Warren Spahn, which I needed for my Braves Collection. This will have to do for now ....at least until the Easter Bunny puts a nicer one in my basket. (Of course the tooth fairy could always slip one under my pillow too).

That is not a crease on Hank. It is a print mark. These two will work just fine in my 61 Braves. Two more biggies knocked down on the Braves needs list. Now to get two more for the set build. I told my self I was going to quit doubling up (tripling in some cases) on the big names. But I just can't separate my separate collections (Braves, Set Builds, PC's) as far as regular base cards go.


The next 2 cards went to my set build needs.

Nothing wrong with adding a pair of 58's. As yesterday's post clearly stated that I like buying cards on the cheap. All five of these cards did in fact come on the cheap. Well, for vintage Hall of Famers' anyways. $55.95 delivered. Not dimes, but still on the cheap.

I am a cheapskate when it comes to cards. But not always.

Sometimes, I spend .25-.50 on a card.

And other times a buck or two. Yes The Acuna too.

Back to .18-.25 cards which is really close to comfort zone. ( I still like thousands of cards at 10 for a penny).  :)

I paid up to .50 for these.

Minis. I think the green mini's were .50 or less, but I don't remember now.

These are at .50 or less as well.

Now tomorrow's post will be just 5 cards, and I didn't get them from SportLots. Meaning......they certainly didn't cost .18, but were still on the cheap.   You'll have to see them.

Normandy June 6th.

When I last left off.......

before the Friday BFG, I had posted the Dick Perez cards and some BINGO cards from Matt. I did howeveer leave one out because I forgot which one it was and had mixed it in with some others from SportLots.

It is one of these, just forgot which one. It maybe one of the Acuna's or the Freeman. I loaded up on Pink cards in the last few months in preparation for October. These are just some Braves from the last shipment.
