I literally and physically doubled my Jr collection at this show. That means I picked up apx. 100 different cards of this guy. 

Even scooped some Bonds. grabbed 2 each of that 89 and the UDCC, he signing!

Balloon that looks like bubble gum, highlighted by The Junior Junkie blog. I hadn't owned it (now I have two), and I have wanted it ever since I first read TJs' blog. I did put one of the copies in with the Bubble gum binder as that is the card that me want to collect them as a mini collection.

June 6th Card Show. POST #6

Like I had said yesterday, the remaining posts in this series came from or rather cost a nickel each. As mentioned we will have groups/scans of individual players rather than total randomness. Again, the total cards when we are all done is apx 500 from the first post to the last so about a third of what I got. My PCs (Player Collections) got a HUGE boost from this show, and undoubtedly the next one too. I am going to attempt to snag 10K from the boxes this go around (July 4th). I am taking my 23 year daughter with me to pre-pull Braves cards so that I can focus on two things this time. MY PCs, and cards for NO Greg, which what landed me at this show in the first place. I also need to grab a couple more of those Bowmans too. hehe.

Oh look, a page of Duke Snider.  Had to pick up that Smoltz, and Glavine even though it pains me to see them (and Maddux) not in a Braves uniform.

Some Carews and Killebrews too!  Sorry Brian, these are in my PCs, although that doesn't mean there won't be dupes in a couple of weeks.

You know I was blown away pulling these cards out of the box, even before I made my deal with the vendor.

Those two 1987 Topps are TIFFANY..... That's right a Rose and a Rickey Tiffany for a nickel each. Man O' man is the number 5 awesome or what?

I put a couple of extra scans in today. The remaining 5 posts will have just 6 scans each. I know this because I am drafting them today.

I have always like the number 5. It was my first baseball jersey number with the Kennesaw (GA)Warriors in 1977 (we were the undefeated champions that year).

Just jerseys and a hat, no baseball pants. We played in Jeans. Memories, wow.

Anyways, I like the number 5. Ever wonder why coins (penny and nickel) are bigger than the dime?  Just curious, my mind is goofy at times but I prefer it that way keeps me interesting if to no one else but myself. LOL.

Back to the show cards , in fact everything else you will see from this show came from Bob vendor 1.

Back drop: Started out with the 5000 count nickel box, pulled 500, she (Val, Bob's wife). knocked off $5. Then I started on the quarter boxes. Bob only brought 3 baseball and 1 football inside the show (of the 55 quarter boxes he had on his truck). I tried my best, but you guys know how I look at cards from every angle, every which way, at least most of the time. Darned if I couldn't even finish the last row of the first box. I managed to pull another 1800 cards, which I bought 900 of those. I set aside 900 for the upcoming show July 4th.  After all, that was 1430 cards, oh yeah and my pockets were empty. LOL.

Bob worked out a deal with me, it took a little while, including that I would be back to the next show.
Bottom line I got those 900 for a fraction over a nickel a piece. Quarter box. (20 for a $1), WOWSER! There wasn't just crap in that box either as you will see for the next Week or two (trying to wrap up this series before the next show). Being that all of the non vintage singles, non Kelloggs, and non Hostess cost a nickel they are all mixed together.

The 1959 Bequer did come from the actual nickel box.

The UD Classics in 2005 looked nice.

While perusing the cards after I got home, I realized that I hadn't been as thorough as I normally would be. So many oddballs were in fact not oddballs, they were inserts. For instance:


2006 Topps Rookie of the Week  a 25 card insert set and I wound up with 13 from the box 1 dig.   It is time for a contest.... From now until the end of the this series write down who you see a card from that RC of the Week set, look it up see what number from the set it is, and when this is all over, the first to get all 13 numbers correct will when a vintage prize pack.  Should be fun, and the winner should be a happy camper.

No, that is not a 1957 Brooks Robinson, lol. Do you believe these cost .05? That Munson is so sweet!

The cards on top row that look like a stamp are nice, I may have to build the set. 1994 Archives, SP Legendary cuts.  Will stop here for today. See ya tomorrow!

Normally this would be it for today, but being there was only 5 cards in total of those 3 pages we will show another 3 pages (4 cards).

Also noting, that even though I had just added those "NO BRAVES" I have since slid one of those Fleer sticker/Braves logo cards into those slots also. I like that look better.

I probably should have just cropped the the cards that I had for these pages. That is what I WILL do for the remaining 7 cards that I have in the Franken-Set. So next week is it for the this SERIES. It shall be retired, at least temporarily until I start up another Franken-Binder. This one was tough, and NEAR impossible  to complete. About 1/3 of the cards #s I need are either 1/1s or less than 10 copies of available of just one card. Another 1/3 have just 1 card available though not limited, so I will update when I get one for this binder, but that is it.

My first Card Show in 20 yrs: post #4

Mixing a little vendor 1 & 2 here. Another vintage food issue. I figure we might as well stay with the sugary (sort of) snack.

1970 year 1. This was the first year for Kelloggs and was its largest set (75).  Cracking, I know but no way was I passing on these. Some of these wound up only costing me a nickel each, of course some were no wheres close to that. 10% of the set in one swoop, rather two scoops.  Never mind, that's Raisin Bran, but still it is a Kelloggs cereal. LOL.

2 cracked and 2 not.

Oliver is pretty good shape. LOL

Reggie and Sanguillen aren't too bad. Reggie definitely was NOT a nickel, which btw the nickel is the basis for my quarter box posts coming (should be starting on Saturday).

I'm in tears looking at the scans. No I'm not. I've always said I would rather have a card in any condition that not have one at all.

Finally a Brave and the only Kelloggs Brave of the day.

Corn Flakes, not sugary.  I will say that I would have preferred they all be the same size, but it is what it is. these are in pretty good shape too.
