A blog about the cards I get awesome deals on, cards that I have available to trade, trades and our hobby in general. I collect Braves cards (all of them) and T206 White Borders.
Hump Day again. So let's look at some interesting cards......at least to me.
How can you not love this card. (not really a question).
There isn't anything about this card that looks right.
I'm heading home tomorrow for a few days. A little respite sort of. VA appointment, Fathers Day, and of course a card show that I haven't been to in a couple of years.
I should be posting though, laptop traveling with.
Rod from stated blog recently held a contest. I didn't win, I was 1 over with my guess of how many hits he pulled from some blasters he busted. The great thing is that Rod sent all entrants something.
I got to pick a card. I chose the Ohtani Gold card below.
I knew I had the gold Ohtani already, but I wasn't sure if I had two which I need two. One for the PC and one for the Cup binder. Now, I dont have to worry about. Rod also asked for your favorite team so he could send along some of those as well. I NEEDED everyone of the cards above! Thanks Rod.
Look at all of these Acuna Rod sent. WOW. heading to the PC!
Albies too!
And if that wasn't enough, look at all of these HOFers. All PC cards too!
All of these guys are PC guys too. Thanks Rod for the awesome package.
Prayers going on for Big Papi. As most of you know David Ortiz was shot this weekend. had a lot of his innards removed. Here's to a speedy and full recovery big boy.
Lately, I've been on an OPC phase. Grabbing up what I can, and some Leaf too.
Here are some Braves from 1981. I expect about 1,500 OPC cards in ranging from 77-82 this week.
I have steadily been whittling down those OPC want lists. I've also been taking out a few older Leaf sets. Which brings us to another Canadian subject: 1985 Leaf.
The Puckett and Clemens are obviously the key cards. But this set is just great. It is under-rated for sure.
Not our usual Shadow Shot Saturday, but that is okay. Today, I 'm highlighting an underrated set.
When it comes to Kellogg's, collector's tend to show off the older sets.
But, let us give some credit here. These cards are GREAT!!!!!!! Even Tony the Tiger says so.
Loaded with stars, super stars that is. Lots of HOFer's in here too. 23 of them in fact, plus at least 3 more that should be in such as Pete Rose, Dale Murphy, and Don Baylor.
Top to Bottom, good looking set I have here with only a small amount with cracks which you can see clearly.
The cracked cards were all together in the package they originally came in, so I'm guessing that the original owner had sat something on that side of the package. All in all this set is gorgeous, and I just wanted to give it some much deserved attention.
I still have plenty to show from the May card show. 2 more of the nickel cards and several others, but today, I thought that I'd break out the cards I pulled out of a QUARTER box, that wound up costing just .08 cents a piece. Less than a dime. (like some car commercials).
You might remember the Braves highlighted right after the show in early May, especially the Hank Aaron that came with that Joe Dimaggio. (this scan is NYY heavy) I love seeing Inception cards in the quarter boxes, and wouldn't mind paying .25 for them either (as long as I'm not building a huge stack). Numbered, Tribute cards too, parallels at that. Yes in deed, stacking I must do and then keep my fingers crossed when I ask the seller how much.
Museum too, take the PC guys for sure.
Thew dealer had a ton of these things in his quarter box too.
Finishing up with the rest of those damn Yankees. Had a decent stack (these plus the Braves 62 cards), I asked how much and the dealer said..... drum roll $5.00. SOLD! All day everyday. Only a couple of times here and there when I ask a vendor how much do I say that's too much or more than I was thinking. I am usually good when they spout out there price. Just like this time.
Have a great weekend. I still have several posts left from this show. Not all high end stuff either, maybe some odd stuff as well.
Hump Day again, man it seems like this day rolls around every week.
This 2009 Topps Update card reminds me of the big dollar boo boo Topps did with Hendrick card a few years later. You know I had a couple of those and actually sent one unknowing of the value in one of those flat rate boxes I used to send out. I still to this day, don't pay attention to "variations" when set building (for the most part).
Grape Gatorade.
I don't like the Rangers, I don't like the AL, I don't like Andrus, but I do like this card. It might even be one of those black foils too.
You want to talk about wacky, well I'd been watching the mailbox for a week, thinking I was due some 78' OPC cards from Ebay. My box came in yesterday, sorted them (put them in order..all 97 of them) when I realized they were 78 Topps. I was pissed, I looked at the invoice it said 78 Topps, I went onto Ebay, and sure enough it was 78' Topps. I have no idea why I was buying 78 Topps. Maybe it was because it was $8.00 for the lot BIN. I don't know what I was thinking. I've completed the set and only need to upgrade a few to EX-NM.
#'s 6, 7, 20, 40, 72, 259, 268, and 320. Talk about a wacky move.
Before we hit this weeks shadow shots I am going to vent.
Yesterday (5/31) The checklist for Panini Leather & Lumber came out. I think this is the first in 14 years for that set. With that release Braves cards are over 4,000 different and we still have the June & July releases which will come close to doubling the 4K. Series 2, and Chrome will be most of it for sure. Too many. My main bitch is that the L&L has just 7 base Braves and zero parallels which should be a good thing. However, there are a total of 203 Braves in that set. 7 base-zero parallels but 203 cards, give me a break. Wow!
Okay now for today's shadows then I'm off to Florida.
I see a Pelican (tying it to FL sort of) with a coat on.
Just an awesome shadow worthy of making this series.
