Thursday Thank Yous

First let me send a HUGE thank you to my daughter Christy for the very early birthday/Christmas presents. I will be probably still be messing with those 100K cards she got me all year long.


Second thanks goes out to Ray of the blog All Cardinals All the Time. Ray sent over some very shiny stuff.

My first Bowman is Back Brave.

As a kid Matthews, Horner, Murphy, and for awhile Burroughs were the MEN as far as I was concerned. It didn't matter that the Braves would finish in last place.  Turns out that Gary was the next door neighbor to one of my Aunts (when he played in Atlanta), you know the guy even cut his own HUGE lawn.  Super nice guy.

Wacky Wednesday and a card show update

before I get to todays cards, I wanted to give you an update on this weekends card show. I tried my best to dig my way to 10K cards out of the quarter box. technically, I failed. In the 6 hours spent, I managed to make my way to just a hair into the third box. I pulled 6, 000 cards, leaving 1K for the next time I am there. However, they may not be for a long while, you see I also scooped up 20 5K count boxes of what I assumed was 100% junk wax commons. The dealer (vendor 1-Bob), didn't have them at the show, I had to follow him back to his house. My daughter actually bought them for me, lucky me. $10.00 per box, and they were NOT just junk or commons. Bob said that all they did was pull the inserts out of them. I will say this the stars were indeed there. And there also some missed inserts too. Lots of them. Cards ranged mainly from 1980 through 2011. Some 70s not many so far as I haven't made my way through the 106,000 cards I left out of there with.  Some nice near complete sets too, like Finest, Stadium club, Ultra and the like. More later on those.

I don't care how many times I run across this card, I can't help but to notice that HUGE sxxt eating grin on Santiago's face.

I think the ump said something a bit skewed and Jay didn't appreciate/expect it. You can even see the GRIN in the catcher's eyes.

I bet he thinks he looks so cool.  towel, toothpick with mouth open, and shades. Oh yeah, hand in the front of the britches.

Hey Ray, what's with the blue towel? Usually we see white, at least he could have used a red one.

I mentioned a couple of days ago about a bubble mailer Brian (HS &CA) had mailed me in addition to a PWE. Well here are just a few of the highlights.

Another Framed, but in the form of a mini relic card.

A relic bat card of Andruw, serial numbered none the less to 199. If you look in the card center you can see it.

Brian continued to blow me away with the cards in this package.

A very Exquisite card indeed. Much appreciated Brian. I'm gonna get ya!



Just a side not here. I will not be posting Friday-Sunday. Well, Monday depending on how I feel when I get back home.

Wacky Wednesday

I picked up a 3K box of junk wax last weekend for $2.00. I pulled out a few for traders and a couple hundred of some dupes for the Hall Worthy Binder. That's also where I snagged those Princeton Reds cards I mentioned the other day. I really didn't spend too much time rummaging through the cards. I did find some 1985 Braves Hostess cards which were pretty cool. I may have spent an hour scouring the cards, but a few did "stand out". Wacky ones that is. So I felt the need to pull out an old theme post. Some of these more than likely made an appearance here before, but they got noticed once again. So for now we have our regular Wednesday posts. They will be short quick posts.

The 6 scans today all hail from Upper Deck.   The Braces on a baseball card got me on this one.

Pretty sure this eyes closed catch made an appearance before.

Now at first you might say, oh tennis shoes again, but I didn't catch that until after I pulled it out for the odd seating, and also after I noticed the girl between his legs and wondered why she was in the dugout (maybe a bat girl???).

Finishing off with an oops shot.  I said they'd be short. Every now and again a quickie is a good thing.
