With Baseball in the background

Baseball should be in the background by now, but no....No No No... December has brought us our first two elections for the HOF, and February 3rd will bring us Topps 2020 series 1. I seriously believe in my heart, that there shouldn't be any cards out there for Spring Camp, and then that should be Bowman with all their "prospects" that 90% will never get their cup of coffee. Topps should hold off bringing us Series 1 at the beginning of the season. Then AFTER opening Day bring us Opening Day with pictures not used in series 1 and won't be in series 2. In fact should ONLY contain cards from actual OPENING DAY.

Now I'm not really bitching, I just needed a lead in for tonight's post. Knowing that I will begin the very tedious job of organizing my many "mini collections" in the coming year or at least I hope to do so.

Here are my already scanned Braves in the Background, an idea I took from Alex Markle back in the day (5/6 years ago). You'll find all kinds of sets here.

McCann definitely gets a lot of action in this mini series.

And a lot of action from everyone else too.

The Lofton card up top, blows my mind. How'd they do that. and who is that Brave?

I'm sure there are dupes scanned here, but the organization should clear that up, at least I hope it does.

That Olson card in the middle has to be one of the best card backs ever.

There you have all the Braves in the Background that I have scanned. I have a whole bunch more that I'll have to go through, and then I'll list them so that I know which ones I have.

Have a great weekend.

Braves goodies

My next to the last ComC order came in a week or so ago. (The Black Friday order still has to ship).

Went looking for some Miller's for that binder. Wound up finding a "dual binder" trio. Three different Ralph Miller's.

Here are the backs of the two that played ball.

A couple of Printing plates for the Braves binders.

A HOFer and a newbie.

Aybar and Newcombe are not dupes, one of each is the base card I needed. All of the others are the Metallic parallel.

I decided to grab up some more Sapphire edition cards.

A whole lot more.  I'm not sure why Topps decided to make the Sapphire Edition cards for this year not be BLUE! But, oh well.

Grabbed up a handful of Cognac's too.

Finishing off with a pair of 2019's. The Spahn is the hot box version.

Wacky Wednesday

Like the Shadow Shot theme this one too is rounding out for now anyhow. Tonight is the last one. With Christmas and New Year's covering the next two Wednesday's (and those posts are already pre-determined) it is also time to suspend this theme (baseball version). I'm excited to start the All New Wacky Wednesday's.

A little of everything here.  Great dive, stoic stance with shades, big glove, mid step celebration, laying around, and big time high five at the plate.

Tilt the bat up and I can put my Mountain Dew in it.

I'm not sure if this is a variation or not, but either way great card to end the theme.

Be safe and have a Happy Holiday season whatever it may be.

Bo sends more

Bo sent me a stuffed PWE. He included a six pack of 73's which I was thrilled with so much that I packed them away before scanning them. It included Kaline and some high numbers. I only realized it when I went to scan the other 6 cards.

More set build needs. Seems like it is going to take forever to complete the 2007 Upper Deck.

Thank you Bo for the cards.

Shadow Shots.....The Last one.

Steadily approaching the end of the year and this post will close out the Theme. Someone else feel free to dig out those junk wax dupes boxes and have it. I'll still keep dupes with some shadows on them and build up another stack of 500 or so before I consider bringing the theme back. The next time I will have bindered up all that I have done thus far and didn't throw back into the dupes boxes. That will prevent showing the same card over and over again as I will also have made an excel sheet listing the Shadow cards shown.

So without further ado........

1) starfish
2) some type of weapon
3) I'll leave this last shdow up to you folks.

It's been fun!

HELP

Help.... I was moving some stuff around last night and found 2 team bags full of 77 Topps that I obviously pulled for someone. I have no idea of who they are for. No telling how long they've been in the box where I found them, months I expect. Did I tell someone I had some 77's for you?  e-mail me and LMK.

The 90's.

The 90's produced a whole bunch of baseball cards. Everywhere, people were told to collect them. invest in them only to find them practically worthless at least from the investment standpoint. Time and time again dealers/vendors have to break someone's heart or piss them off in many cases (they usually feel like they are being ripped off or trying to be). Even I have to give that news to someone here and there. The good news is (or maybe it is bad news) that there will always be cards for your collection that you need or want. Whether a team collector, set builder, or even a player collector there will always be some 90's cards to acquire.

The above cards are custom cards made by Jeremy of Topps cards that never were. I recently sent him whatever Rays cards I had here in Valdosta. (I've since been home and grabbed up some more to send to him). Meanwhile, Jeremy sent me some Braves.

No that first card isn't backwards by mistake. I did that on purpose. You see that is the GOLD hologram version (a 1992 parallel). In fact Jeremy must have a complete set because he sent me all but 6 of the Braves (SOMEHOW THOSE 6 WEREN'T ON MY WANTLIST). Gold and Gold Rush too.

Cyber Stats. Now take notice to the bottom row center Glavine. It is the 1996 Topps World Series parallel (for the Braves). Jeremy sent about a third of those Braves. And the Power Booster Star Power card. Let's not forget the Silver parallel of the 1995 collector's Choice SE.

International Bowman, Hobby Reserve Maddux.

Another Bowman international, and the Premium Stock parallel from 1997 Score.

1998 Pacific Crown.

You see there are always 90's cards that a collector needs.

Plenty of oddball sets like the Score Hottest 100, and minor league cards too.

Inserts abound.

Jeremy also managed to drop a few from this century.

Like the 2019 Aaron insert and Acuna Pink.  Thanks Jeremy for the great additions. I'll have more out to you real soon.

Shadow Shots

We're getting close to the last of year, and with it the suspension of my Shadow Shot theme. Who knows one day I may revive it, but anyone out there wants to run with it give it go.

I don't know what to say about these three shadows. I better leave that up yo you folks.

While I was away

When I got back last night I had a package in the mailbox from Brian over at HSCA. It was quite the package. Brian included a note that he had been working on a return for a previous package when I sent him 6 (six) 59' Topps cards. I point out the SIX 59's for a reason.

All Braves needs.

Yes, that is a 1948 Bowman, leaving me with just Spahn left for the team set to be complete.

1964 Topps Alou! I didn't even know I needed, but I did. I don't remember what the previous package was I sent to Brian, but those above would suffice the six 59's. Brian had sent several other Braves that my want list said I needed, but I didn't. Then he included the following.......

Big help for 59 set build plus a pair of 64's and a 67' for icing on the cake.  Thanks Brian, I'll try and get those modern era Twins out to you soon.

Cards from Matt & Marc

Matt of Diamond Jesters sent along these additions to my Braves collection.

Gold, Blue, Red, Glossy, and a Durham Bull. All needs.

I am loading up the vehicle for the trip tomorrow. So 1 more inbound set of cards tonight.

Marc (Remember the Astrodome) hit me up with some needed Braves.

Gypsy Queen labels the Johnson there as purple, but I'll just call it Pink for my purposes.

A bunch of Diamond Kings for that collection.

And Marc sent along some cards for a set build too.

Wacky Wednesday

Throwing this post out first thing this morning as we are hitting the road shortly. The funeral was pushed til Thursday and that makes it a little easier without any rushing around. We'll stay tonight and head back after the service tomorrow afternoon. Which means tomorrow's post (already written) will publish a little later than my normal.

I know that I have shown the Sale before, but this is part of the reason for revamping the Wacky Wednesday series. One of my goals for next year is to organize and update my mini collections. Of course you can read all about that in the coming weeks as we approach the New year.

Six more cards for you to admire (or not).  Not exactly for sure why I scanned the Royals card it may have had something to do with him watching the ball fly out of the park.

Enjoy the day folks!
