Stuff and my first purchase of the year.

 The winner last night was San Jose Fuji.

The take on last night's post is that I will be posting the entire set of Rock Cards. Probably tomorrow. I put them in order today. Seems I am missing one card #97. I'll scan them while they are finishing cutting the trees down in my back yard. They were supposed to finish today, but one of their pieces of equipment broke. 

Meanwhile, I pulled a good bit more of the "stuff" I have been able to get to. More on that another day. So, what you see below was bought on Jan. 11th and was delivered this past Sunday, yes Sunday. Our mail doesn't run on Sunday, yet it did. it wasn't our normal (new lady) or even a USPS truck, but a van with a magnet on the door. Oh well, I was really hoping to have my old mail carrier still working. She was a hottie, even got Christmas kisses on the lips from her too, dang. Going to miss those. Stinks because I was looking forward to seeing her everyday again. Oh well.

Instead I am keeping this simple tonight. This was my first purchase of cards this year. It was an Ebay lot. I am now down to just needing three more (Trout, Albies, and Perez). I have several others sitting in my Sport Lots box, which I will be having shipped soon. I also pulled the trigger on my ComC inventory and it is due to ship Feb. 6th. I also had my Card Barrel cart shipped. Along with those I bought another batch from Ebay, and will be posting that in a couple of days. Plenty of cards scanned already. More to do tomorrow.

I definitely recognize a few of those names. Anyways, I had gotten these cards awhile back and never looked at them before last night. Back in the 80s music was a big part of being a teenager or slightly older young adult. As it is now too, I assume. Some of my friends liked the drummers, some liked the guitarist, and some the vocalists. So I scanned some of each to show you in case you were one of those people who preferred one over the other.

The front men so to speak.

The guys in the middle and top right corner are the Moody Blues guys. That is their only cards in the set, so I put them in here.

That is a really cool AC/DC card. Seeing that David Coverdale cards reminds me of I think their first video, HOT girl on the hood of that card, Wow, great memory.

The card backs have bio and stat like info on them, I probably should have scanned one.

On other sets, I found some that I can not post. Seems like every card produced by Play Boy, Hustler, Penthouse, and many others. Lots & lots of the naked ladies. Even found the unopened wax boxes, sets (including the Pamela Anderson set), thousands and thousands of them. They came from that dealer buyout I did back in 2015. I forgot just how many of those things there were. I found just about every Star Trek trading card set too with plenty of extra sets. Funny thing is I haven't even touched the dozen or two monster boxes of the non sport stuff yet.

Masonic Monday: The Waner's

 This is the last of the baseball related Masonic posts until I find the tub with the other handful (maybe a 10 or so) others. I will still be posting Masonic Mondays they will just be non baseball (until I get the others) historic and interesting people. I was going to start those folks off with the President's that were Masons, but with President's day coming on Monday Feb. 20th, I will wait until then to kick off that run of a dozen or so. Rest assured there will be some interesting reads on Mondays.

That wraps up the baseball portion for a while (I really do have several more.... just have to find them). See ya next Monday with someone who knows a thing about reading and um writing.

BEATLES AND THE FREE CARDS TOO

It's Friday and I will be keeping this one short. I could post the 70ish cards I have of the 1964 Beatles set which came in three series totaling 165 cards. The backs rotate with colors even though there is very little writing on the backs. Some blue, others green, red, even black. Haven't researched that yet, but I'm sure there is a reason. These cards were in the ALF box too. I was going to scan them all but decided once I've consolidated all of the Beatles cards from the last 7 years I may do a post or may just wait until it each set is complete.

Basically this is an update on my progress at home. During the clean up rather re-arranging the stored "stuff" in my bedroom I stumbled onto obviously previously posted cards. I'm speaking about non sports cards. At least I believe I previously posted them. The thing is they were in an old series 2 wax box of ALF. Loved that show as a kid. Inside the box were many unopened packs of ALF along with several of the 10 card plastic cases with different sets or partial sets in them. Now after checking the Batman, I did post these specific cards several years ago. What I have to do now is set them to the side because I apparently have obtained many more cards from each of these sets at different times over the last 7 years (my time in GA). I now have these little plastic boxes all over the place and will have to consolidate them as I come to them. Tonight I give some of them (again I think). But the good news is that I am finding my way slowly but surely to cards. Now in BIGGER news, I have decided NOT to do the addition to my home. I will instead build a storage shed for tools, mower, and misc. stuff and convert my garage to my card room/man-cave temporarily. At some point the garage is going to be strictly a man cave. The cards will be back inside my home whether it is an addition or how I originally had planned it. I really don't foresee my daughter living here forever, and I did raise my girls to be independent women. It may take a year or two, but I can see the writing on the walls, she will be wanting her own place down the road. While I was gone she got used to do what she wanted or how she wanted, but now that I am home  eh things got to go my way. I am being considerate with some things, but bottom line it is my house and our home. Two different things. Wow, that was a lot to unpack.

I have to consolidate about four things of Batman as I find them.

That last card is actually card number 1 (I did them backwards). Looks like John was practicing for Saturday Night Fever.

Stickers yeah! Charlie's Angels even a bigger yeah! My teenage years were an awesome time growing up. 

Okay, I got lazy here. I scanned just 1 card each except for the KISS. I also wanted to do a different Dukes card, one that clearly shows how Daisy Duke shorts came to be, but alas it was a vertical card.

I pulled one more plastic case out of that wax box, but it was not a 10 card case. More like a hundred card case. I'll post some of them tomorrow. Not all of them, but some. It is a set from 1964.

1998 Topps Finest: I like the set, but there are issues that exist. 

1) Many of us card collector's have a touch (or more so for others) of OCD. We have "our" way of doing things especially when it comes to our collection. Whether it is our routine when cards come in, or how we organize them, binder them, count them, heck even what we collect and how we store them. Limitless pretty much. One of the things some of us get touchy about is the condition of cards or at least certain cards. Another thing that really gets my goat..... ah you'll have to wait until page 6 (2nd card) to see and then read more on that subject or two.

Topps released this 275 card set in two series 1-150 and 151-275.

There you can see that Loiselle does not have the protective coating on it. It is the only card in my completed set without the protector. That annoys me, so I have taken to the web to rectify that. Simple enough handles the OCD issue with this set. However it brings me to another talking point that irks me.  Why in the hell did Topps make a parallel set without the coating (listed as no protector) and if that wasn't enough there are refractor version of both. Now Back in the day when this set and other sets were released I couldn't stand having the coating on them, and thus I would peel it off. Some of the sets even said to peel it off. Eventually I found that to be a pain in the ass. Here is the kicker, let's say you peel it off, isn't it now the parallel? So why? I am not aware of any difference between the no protector cards and ones that had the protector and was peeled off. Maybe there is, I'm not aware of it and really don't care. I feel better now that I vented that.

I'm not done venting or discussing OCD with this set. The writing on the protective coating is another thing. I consider it a quality control issue. They are not always lined up correctly. Look at Sosa, Javy, and Kent above. See the difference, I notice crap like that, and that is not even close to being how off they are on some cards.

There you have the complete set. I know I griped a lot, but I really do like the set and all of that venting could have been avoided by just not putting the darn coating on the cards to begin with. I would prefer them off, but like I said earlier such a pain in the ass.
