Again

Yes, again with the dime cards. All PC guys.

A few more TSC Chrome I left out yesterday.

Bowman's Best for a dime, I'll take them all day long. Although I probably shouldn't because I think these are all dupes or trips.

Even pulled a few from yesteryear out of the "quarter" boxes. I bought 500 from Daryl for $50.00- a dime a piece.

I have two more posts of basically rookies, young stars, and hot prospects.

Dime cards

The card show nearly 2 weeks ago netted me some dime cards. I grabbed a bunch of them.

Some I know I didn't need, but wasn't sure about most, so why not.

For instance the Arod rookie. I know I have it, but for a dime why let it sit in someone else's box. My dupes box is so much more comfy.

I can probably squeeze 3 or 4 posts out of the gets.

Old school ball players for a dime. You bet.

Stadium Club Chrome for a dime, yes please. I 'll have more the rest of the week.

A score!

Besides my normal stops at the Jax. show I hit up one of the other regulars.

He had a box of "less than perfect" for cards with a sign on them that said "will make a deal on multiple cards".

Yes, it is creased. The seller had a $16.00 price on the card.  I had just moments earlier looked at a few of these cards at a couple of other tables for crazy prices.  I flipped through the box for a minute or two.

Came across this one, and got the dealer's attention and said two is multiple. He said yes it is. The Bowman had a $4.00 price on it. I asked how much is the deal. He let me have them both for the $16.00.  I don't need either one, already have 2 of each. But, I wasn't leaving the Seaver sit in that box. I figure one of these days it will make a great contest card.

Did you know?

Did you know? I knew Ronald Acuna Jr. had a brother that was drafted in 2020 LuisAngel Acuna. He is in the Rangers organization. What I didn't know is that there is a third brother. He is 15 years old. Bryan Acuna and already has a major release baseball card. That's just crazy.

Both of the younger brothers cards reference the elder brother. Something to do with their swing. Who knows, one day we may have the trio all playing like the Dimaggio's and Alou's.

I still have a few posts left from the Jax. card show.

Have a great weekend.

What to do

Yesterday I made mention that I picked up something else from my buddy Fred at the last show.

I did get something nice from his tables, but I also grabbed some Braves that I left out in yesterdays post. That Contreras autograph was $2.00. Hard to beat that! Same for the up and coming Cusick auto.

A couple more needs. Now let's see that something nice item.

Complete with the All Star stamps in tact. I paid Fred $25.00 for the 1971 Dell issue.

If you check Ebay the book/magazine goes for around $50.00, some of course are priced through the roof, and that's just crazy. More common are the individual stam ps. Some of those are also prices crazy especially the All Star variants like the ones above. I did well, but my my what am I to do? Do I leave the stamps intact or do I separate them, they are perforated? What would you do?

Card show

I posted the HOF Legends proofs the other day that I bought at the card show. Most certainly was the biggest purchase. I grabbed some cards from my buddy Fred's tables as well.

Fred always has a glass case with the hot cards in it, and I always start there. I grabbed some more Mike Trout cards, some I know I need, others weren't sure. Fred charges me a buck a card from this case.

That makes these Wanders a great deal. Everyone else was selling that Flagship Topps for $20.00. I paid a buck. I wish he had more. I think he does at home, so maybe next month I can scoop the rest. He did say he had a bunch of 2022 cards at his house for me. He brought me and at no charge a near complete set of series 1. I am ordering the missing handful to be done with it.

Remember this guy? His cards were the "hot" cards last year. I did some prospecting.

The two relics were not from the case, I paid $2.00 for each.

The relics were two bucks. How about that Clayton Kershaw for a buck. I grabbed something else from Fred, and that will have it's own post.

Ranked

For the last month I have been pounding the key board at TCDB. Ever since Fuji posted about 5 weeks ago about a ranking of his. I have been steadily inputting my individual Braves cards from my team collection. The list below is just for Atlanta Braves. I haven't figured out how to run all of the Braves combined compared to other members.  There may not be a way to do that. I clearly have a boatload more Atlanta Braves I could input, especially dupes, completed sets, and players collections. Not to mention the mini collections. For now I will look at adding the cards in my set builds, but on a slower pace than I did with the team sets.

I need to work on my 2 year additions to my PC for my excel sheets and web pages, and the Braves in those PC's should more than be enough to topple the number 1 spot. Big project that will take me the rest of the year to complete, so it is high priority for me. I'll start that next month with the Braves. Then proceed alphabetically as I would normally do.

I already have the number 1 spot for a handful of players without inputting any from PC's. Players like Andruw Jones, Warren Spahn, Eddie Mathews, Phil Niekro, Brian McCann, Hanson, Simmons, Sims, Furcal,  and Folty. I hope to jump to #1 with all of the others especially Glavine, Maddux, Chipper, Smoltz, Freeman, Acuna, Albies, Murphy, Riley, Swanson, Javy, and Mcgriff we'll see. I'll be happy to get some of them and top 5 at least for all of them. Again, we'll see.

1990 Hall of Fame 500 HR club silver proofs

"The Legends of Baseball" Proof Collection.

I bought the Williams last year, and was pretty hyped to get it. The hype MY HYPE was because that one was autographed. You can read that post here:  Williams signature

Well, I just picked up 11 of the 12 (no Mantle).

These things are priced so crazy on Ebay.        500 HR club proofs

I paid $200.00 for the lot. Even got the box they came in originally. Only missing the Mick.

Now, as for REAL price or value: the 22 gram silver proof is valued today around $15.00. (that's 50% more of what it was 6 months ago when I got the other Williams). Now silver is on the rise, as is gold and other precious metals, it always rises when the economy (the real economy) is looking bad for the long run. I really wish I hadn't dropped my precious metals license. Anyways, sidebar lost track.

That is what each one cost me if you average it out ($18.00). In my mind I have the silver coin therefore I broke even. Of course I could drop them on Ebay for a profit, but I'm not interested in doing that at least not right now. Besides I need the Aaron and Mathews for my Braves collection, and then all of the others are PC guys too. Think I'll keep them.
