Presidents' Day. Get your popcorn out (maybe two buckets).

Did y'all see my weekend RANT? Check it out if you didn't.

Many if not most of you know by now that I have somewhat of a rather LARGE and varied Presidential Collection. My collection does not discriminate from political party or bias. It is what it is, predominantly cards and sets, but also includes magazines big and small, books, coins, buttons, photos, and documents. Like I said.... varied. I have most of them saved in my files, because there is a lot and scanning them every year (back when I did that) was a time suck.

I did however do a little work in the binder this weekend, whether or not I re-scan some of the pages I don't know. I will find out as I am writing and preparing this post as I go.

The first scans (all of the above) was the first thing Presidential I decided to put in my collection. It is a dinner place mat. I apologize right now for it being boring, but the next scans (42)
from this very place mat should brighten that spot. It was the first piece in my collection so I have to include it. My documents folder pulled the images up in reverse order, but that doesn't matter it works either way. The 2nd Bush was the President when this was produced. I do actually have the individual head shots/busts scanned as well, but I will forego burdening you with those as you will see plenty of FACES tonight and you can see them in the above scans too.

Consider this portion of this post the "CHEAT sheet" for their background or trivia purposes.

So maybe you learned something, maybe you didn't. Now let's start this program. I did have to re-scan everything else in the collection. I have saved it, so I shouldn't need to do that again. It is a permanent save. However, I cut this program in half this year, by NOT scanning the backs of the cards. I love the backs, it is where all of the information is. Maybe I'll scan the backs for next year, but your butt is going to be numb by the time you are finished with this post as it is.....with just the front pictures. There are a slew of awesome momentos, so I hope you'll make it to the end. If you can't by all means save the page and come back to it you'll want to finish.

I'll kick start it with some of the old LOOK magazines.

I picked these up a couple of blocks from my house a decade or so ago at a yard sale. Later there will be some other actual books.

The coins and album are from 1997 Reader's Digest. The album is empty (folds out into 3 sections). The only coins I have are the 10 above.

The Bush League is a parody set on the first Bush Prez. They are oversized. The Bicycle playing cards you will see them later, this is just the box. As for the Trump deck, I showed them a couple of months back (only 3 different images I believe). 1 Donald, 1 Melania, 1 Biden.

Now for some serious card sets.

Jumping from the 50's to 60's.

Now jumping to the 1972 reprint set which added a few Presidents and wrapper, and the card backs are totally different. With that said. I must say that cutting out half of the scanning (the cards backs) was a bummer as there is so much cool information. Oh well, maybe next year I'll just do the backs, lol.

I also could have saves a ton of scans by removing the cards from the binder and filling the scanner bed, but no way was I doing that.

Going back to 1956 with the next beauty.

If I remember I think that I'll see what else is in this set.

Bouncing right back to 1965.

I really want to get the missing Presidents to complete this set. I do have some of the "famous" people ones too.

Getting a little more modern now.

There you can peek at some backs. Chrome version below (I don't have a lot of those).

I think that I am going to call an audible here. Cutting it off at the halfway point. I'll do the leftovers tomorrow.

Have a great night.

OMG! They'll never learn. You've got to be kidding me. It's not April Fools Day either.

Lordy Lordy. What is one to expect with a post title header like that? I'll tell ya....It is RANT time.

The blogs have been loaded with stories and picture about the newly released 2025 Topps series 1. I've read them, and decided I'll be getting plenty of them thousands to sort through in the coming weeks, no rush. Technically I'd be just fine waiting on the complete factory set. I mean after all economically, it makes sense. I digress, I know you all are aching down deep into your souls wanting, needing, begging to know what my RANT is.

I just pulled up my Braves checklist for the set.

1,603 Braves in series 1 alone.

Seriously, that is nearly the grand total of Topps 1 & 2 for all of last year (2,124 cards)! Don't forget Beckett will add a couple hundred more before series 2 comes out to their listing.

19 Braves cards in the base set, then you have 58 YES I said FIFTY EIGHT parallels.

I mean come on, the Braves didn't make it past the pre- wildcard game in the postseason.

Just so I am not alone here Let's po the OWL. The reigning World Series Champions the Los Angeles Dodgers.....Yeah they have 1,684. I guess winning the trophy will net your team 81 cards, that makes sense all though still too many. If 81 cards are too many, what does that say about Topps making 1600-1700 cards per team for half of (actually a third) of a set. They are NEVER going to stop.

You can't even say it's due to increased "creativity" which is absolutely NOT the case, if so every parallel/VARIATION would have a DIFFERENT PHOTO. Heck, even the "names" aren't very creative. I'm telling you, if I did the Social Media thing I would be BLOWING IT UP, lol. Hopefully, you techno civilians out there will do it for me.

There it is, that is my out of the ordinary RANT and weekend POST.

Happy Valentine's Day, but did ya know?

Gentlemen, hurry run to Walmart they have a great deal on Roses (I especially like the yellow ones). LOL. Alrighty now. Did ya know.... the first Saint Valentines Day was dinner held in honor of said Saint way back in 496AD. Put on by Pope Gelasius I.

Now let's see some athletes who celebrated (or maybe not) their birthday today.

I really should work on this binder (putting the sports together) so that it would be easy to see if I already have the player. I digress.

Have a great weekend folks.

Need to get some incoming cards posted.

I've had some recent incoming cards from fellow bloggers (and elsewhere). I need to get them their due. Tonight's incoming cards came in not one but two separate PWE's from Tom over at Angels in Order. About two weeks apart, which is why I know I need to get moving on my scanned files.

1st envelope.

these came in about 3 weeks ago, in fact I am not 100% sure they were from Tom. I needed that Braves card and the two discs are PC guys.

2 envelope that came in the other day. Definitely from Tom.

Tom posted these on his blog not long ago, stating he didn't want these. I hollered out that they are all PC guys. He didn't say anything, just sent them. Thanks Tom. He did include a note saying that he does actually like the "pink" cards, just not these guys. LOL.

Have a great night everybody.

Wacky Wednesday

Busy busy busy, that is what the last week has been for me, but should be much slower the rest of the month. Hit up the VA today in Gainesville (had to get up at 5am) and afterwards stopped by the Meely Pops card shop. Then home to get ready for Trivia night. Went to Trivia and we won 1st place.

This week throws modern day cards into the arena. With some Stadium club from two newer releases.

have a great night!

GIVEAWAY DAY.....

Here we go again. These were dupes I grabbed from Ormond by mistake. Maybe a bit more than the giveaway last week.

Rules to claim a card this week.

1) Be a follower of this blog, comment on this post, and make sure I have your current address.

2) First come first serve. There are only 6 cards so they may go fast.

3) Only one claim (card) per follower on these cards.

HERE WE GO.....

Last week's giveaway left 1 base 2024 A&G Mantle, so consider that one still available too. 7 cards to share.

Adios!

Just a quick "MINOR" post.

Last post from the January Ormond trip. After that will be another GIVEAWAY day.

This is the bulk of those minor league team sets I mentioned recently. There was only 1 Braves affiliate. I busted them out of their plastics except for a couple of duplicate sets. Looked at the card backs for birthdays for my mini collections then into the dupes boxes the rest went. Way too many here to be shipping out in bulk. I only say that because several people inquired about the "dump", but the shipping would be at least $20.00, so for now they remain hidden in a box.....unmarked waiting for someone browsing through them and say ah.  LOL.

This team set was also in there. I kept Phil (PC), and the ladies, but the rest are now hidden away also including Joe.

These too were in with the minor league cards. A complete set too.

That's it nice & short. Have a good week.

Ormond trip: round 4 the PC guys. Total mix

A total mix of players and card sets/brands/years.

A whole bunch of this years, I mean last years Topp 2006 mini's.

A whole lot of shiny in there.

Quit salivating over those Puigs' Greg.

I brought home a total of 550 cards from the dollar boxes with just 71 of them being Braves cards. Of the Braves cards 37 were "new to me" and the remaining 34 went into the PC's or the rookie collection.

Those two Jackson Holiday cards reminds me that I need to remind you folks, that this isn't the end of the posts from Ormond albeit the next one is a super short one and will be the last Ormond post before the next GIVEAWAY DAY. That is a hint in case you didn't figure it out.

There ya go folks and a fantastic weekend.

Ormond Beach: Round 3

Round three from the January trip to Ormond. In case you couldn't tell from the "GIVEAWAY" cards last week, I grabbed what should be the last time I grab any A & G from 2024 other than the unusual parallels cards.

Above are the Chrome, 2 Filigree, and and a few Silver portraits (the rest of the Silver are below the base).

This should be the last time I post any 2024 AG unless they are Braves parallels that I need.  Kind of burned out on these. Didn't take long, but I'm sure I have all of my PC's taken care of. Speaking of which, the PC guys I grabbed (non AG) grabs will be next.

Later!

Wacky Wednesday

This week's round of cards that I find interesting in one way or another.

The Gattis card is still one of my all time favorite cards. Love it. Just in case you are wondering why Charlie made this cut.... Come on look at that stare. At first you might believe he is staring down the photographer, but he isn't. He is looking out on the field at something, not sure what but something. Throw in the "civilians" on the field makes the cut.

Be naughty everybody.... Just kidding, be nice.

Day TWO: Ormond dollar box Braves.

It is going to be a very busy week and a half for me. Mailed out those "giveaway" cards today. With that said, let's get right to round two of the last Ormond card shop visit. Braves from the dollar boxes.

Obviously, I didn't pay a buck for these cards. All needed Braves tonight, so I can inch closer and closer to that #1 spot on TCDB. I also requested shipment yesterday from my Sport Lots box which has 607 cards in it and 2/3 of those should be Braves.

That mini 2024 Topps 206 Acuna, gets me down to just 1 Atlanta Braves base version, and 2 Milwaukee Braves base cards. I've nearly completed the Red Foil Stadium Club too. I think I need 1 A&G Silver yet.

Turns out that Guanipa Lunar Glow was a dupe, I needed the Drake not this one. I believe I've completed the Braves Stadium Club inserts now.

And wrapping this post with the last of the 2024 Topps chrome mojo 89' inserts too. (1 of those were from Flagship, the others Update).

Have a great night!

My oh My: What a difference a year can make. An over sized post.

As the title indicates time. For instance a week ago we (Central Floridians) were not liking the sub freezing temps. The the week finished up with a couple of days in the 70's and this past weekend (Friday) began hitting the low 80's. That is my kind of temperature. I like the 80's.... a lot. Here I am typing this up on Saturday afternoon in the mid 70's at the moment with hopes of 80 expected by sundown. Ahhhh. (Didn't happen only got to 76).

One year ago my brother Jack, my sister Kathy, her family, and I attended the first annual blue grass festival down town. Now I am okay stating that I enjoy 99% of most music genre's. However, Blue Grass or supposed Blue Grass is not in the upper ranks. It's okay. That festival is happening today (Saturday). 8 plus hours of different bands/groups all afternoon and into the night. The difference is the temps. Last year after nightfall, it got down to 17 degrees, burr and me no likey. As I just mentioned those are not the temps today. BIG difference for sure. It turns out as I opted not to attend this year, that my brother remembered last year leaving his dog (GiGi) unattended was cruel, and this morning called to ask that I go let her do her thing while he was away to give her some relief. Then just moments ago, my daughter Hunter said her and my grandson Elijah were stopping by. And they just got here so I will take a break right now.

Now I shall start the Ormond posts with the over sized box toppers that I got from my recent visit.

The Toys R Us were actually a complete sealed set of 11. The ones scanned here are PC guys.

For some reason I am thinking that I may already have that DEVERS.

To finish up I couldn't leave the current Holiday Ornaments behind.

I hope that everyone's week is a grand one.
