Break Down

No, I am not having a mental break down. (of course that is objective). I went to the Jacksonville card show this past Saturday. It had been 8 months, and sure enough the a**hole was there. I avoided him, and made sure to get the few dealers I needed phone numbers for so that I could meet up with them without having to go back to this show. The hosting dealer took notice, and man o man did he avoid me like the plague. Apparently several dealers bitched him out for not banning the guy. But, that is another story.

I bought cards from six different vendors. My two favorites and four new guys two of which I bought because I felt bad for them. I'll explain that when I post their cards. I am going to have a few weeks worth of posts from this show. I contemplated having a theme for all 6 vendors "DEAL OR NO DEAL".  I believe it is fitting title for all six purchases.

Tonight I will begin with my favorite dealer, Fred. I spent $80.00 on items with him.

This is a "short" Carvel comic book from 1976. Short in actual size and in pages.

Mickey Mantle. Yee Haw! Right off the bat Fred told me those are $10.00 each. I usually just go through his stuff regardless of value, get what I want and let him tell me a price which is always very agreeable at the end.

The back covers are different.

This scan is just to show the size compared to standard size card.  $20.00 down.

The remaining $60.00 I spent with Fred was done how we usually do things. Fred normally has a bunch of cheap boxes and 1 glass case for the higher value cards. I grabbed up a stack of 60 or so cards from the glass case. And then hit up the only other box he had. It was mainly relic/auto/serial numbered cards box.

I pulled about 25 cards from here. There is that Sanchez card that Fuji needs. Those are the only relics I grabbed. The rest were PC guys so I won't bore you with all of them just some highlights.

yes, that a Sheffield auto and a pair of the Christmas cards!

I will show one of the guys I grabbed because he doesn't show up here on my blog often.

Yes, I'm a Tebow fan, always have been. I have no idea why some of his baseball cards carry such a high premium. Maybe it is just in Florida I don't know. Some of his cards go for some major cabbage. The 2017 Topps Pro Debut, just 1 on ComC it's on sale for a cool $175.50.

Typically a lot of the baseball cards from the glass case (player stacks) are $3.00 and up cards. Fred generally charges me a buck a piece. All in all I got the 2 comics, and 85 cards all for $80.00....

Deal or NO deal?

2000 SP Authentic

I finished up last year especially the month of December closing out a ton of set builds. I build the Flagship Topps, Fleer/Tradition, Upper Deck, Bowman, Donruss, Leaf, Opeechee, Score, and a handful of other brands (all of the Pacific set brands), Stadium Club, SP, SP Authentic, SP Legendary Cuts, Rookies & Stars, Pinnacle, Ovation, (all of the Chronicles brands), Kellogg's, Post, Hostess, and Conlon. Damn that's a lot. Plus........the update/Traded sets.

I don't go out of my way to get the SP cards, yes I want them, take them. But for me the set is complete without them. However, the set listed in the title of this post is a I don't know what to call it.
The base set is 1-90, then you have SPs (of differing difficulty) 91-165, and then it appears that cards 166-195 are base cards. I don't know, they're not serial numbered like the other SP's, they're not rookies, Just 30 cards at the end of the set, of which I have never seen any, or at least never noticed. I'll to ComC them. I just figured this out tonight. As I just got what I thought was a complete set (1-90) in the mail today. I went for a complete set (90 cards) on Ebay (got it cheap BIN) as I only had 9 of the 90 cards to start with. And I really want to get all past sets completed.

Here the 9 cards I already had, which is okay because 8 of them are PC guys. The set was perfect for knocking down 1 more set off the list. Now, I have to figure what to do about those last 30 cards. I guess I'll price them out on Comc, and if they are carrying a premium I'll call them SP's and move on.

What would you do?

I probably have a bunch tucked into those 800 count boxes that are scattered all over my bedroom back home marked for future PC guys.

Don goes down in baseball history as the only pitcher to throw a perfect World Series game.
His playing days were dome just a year after I was born. But for some reason his name has been embedded in my head which is why I finally put some cards in the PC. I know I've been putting the in the future PC boxes so I just got to get to those boxes and go through them.

Later days.

PROMO CARDS

What's next? The other day last week or so.....maybe, I was reading the blogs and somewhere someone mentioned the promo cards that came in those non-sport magazines. I have a ton of the crap. They came with that multi million card deal I picked up back a few years ago. LOL. I've had a slew scanned in my files for several years. I probably even posted them years ago. I could search but what for. Here is a handful to get started. I probably have another hundred scans. I'll delete them after I run through them all this time.

That's enough promos for one day.

The all new old Wacky Wednesday

I'll start out with Happy New year! With that out of the way it is time to lay the ground work for the new Wacky Wednesday theme. Many of us grew up when Wacky Packages stickers (the original ones) were being produced. Many of y'all were not fortunate to have grown up during that time, I'm sorry. LOL.

This blog switched up the Wacky Wednesday them a few years back (March 2016) much the same as I am doing this year. At that time I ran my original Wacky Packages stickers until I was finished with the ones I owned. I then ran the "All New Series" aka ANS and the few other outskirts they had come out with in this Millenia. There were a lot and I still have to run the ones that came out after those. We even had a MLB set that came out in 2018 that I did post when they came out. However, there were years in between Wacky's. I still need a couple sets of the "New stuff". Topps even tried their Lost Wacky run , Old School, and Flashback series, and crazy stuff. I posted about many of those too, and one day I'll start again from the beginning and run continuously through them all including what I am doing this year. What is that you say?  UNDERGROUND STICKER CARDS.

Well, back in the early 2000's Topps....... here's the link so you can read a ONE (sided) story for yourself. Obviously, there are multiple "other" versions of the backstory, mainly on forums that some members participated in series 1 & 2, but were excluded on the rest (obviously, jaded a bit). Personally, I could care less whether or not Topps actually knew about the 1st two Lost Series, or anything else. Big issues arise about Series 3 and all sets after. Again, does not matter to me in the slightest. It's a parody sticker/card using original Topps artwork. Works for me, hell I wouldn't even care if the artwork wasn't Topps original. If the sticker/card is funny, it's funny. This run of Wacky posts will finish with a few sets that has nothing whatsoever to do with Topps.

The Lost Wacky's back story

The next thing for me to do is start this series with The UNDERGROUND Lost Wackys that I own. But, first the breakdown.
Lost Wackys 1: released in 2005 (there are some alternate/variation stickers)
Lost Wackys 2: released in 2008
Lost Wackys 3: made in 2011, but released in 2017. (there is a complete alternate set)
Lost Wackys 4: released in 2018.

These are not the only Underground Wackys. There are also 9 Series (so far) of VARIATIONS (released in 2018 & 2019), and then a completely absurd run of 13 series of unopened packaging called BOXES released in 2018 & 2019. Yes, I have damn near everything listed above and will post them accordingly.  I am missing three sets, Lost 1, 2 & 4. I know where to get them, I'm just hesitant on paying for them I guess because I am a cheap ass.

But wait, that is still not all that is to come this Wacky go around.

There was yet another non authorized release of Wacky stickers, these were called Silly Supermarket Stickers. 4 series released between 2003 and 2008 (technically 3), and I also have all 4 of those.

The Lost Wackys Series 3:

This is the puzzle put together.

There are 2 packs each with a different wrapper.

The checklist.

One of the controversial cards. There are multiple versions of this card, where the scratch off panty is a different color.  Yes, the anatomy is correct once scratched off.

I think this sticker

Now for the two bonus stickers.....

 thin gum

wide gum.

In all fairness, I thought that I would be starting with Series 1, and really did think that I pulled the trigger on them. Not the outrageous prices from a couple of years ago. I think it was like a hundred bucks for series 1. I guess I didn't at least according to my scan folder and excel file.

Again Happy New Year! I'll see what I can do about getting those 3 sets.

UPDATE:

I do have series 2 en-route to me and the alternate set for series 3, and series 4 with both puzzles. I can get singles for series 1 at $9.00 a piece, and I'm a cheapskate, so I'll have to keep chugging along until I get the set. I know I know, I should have paid the price when I picked up all of those other 2 dozen sets... UGH.
