Show goodies

As promised I am starting the show posts. There will be a few. Okay, more than a few more like many. The first "few" are just some highlights that were laying right in front of me so I scanned them first. I previously stated that the bulk of these cards were from 1996-2006, and they are/were. But, they were plenty of 2007-2018 as well. Complete sets of 07 & 08 Topps.

A handful of Braves relics.

I also stated they were 250K, but that is way over shooting because most were in top loaders, and that drastically reduces the number of cards in the box. Not to mention a pain in my ass to take the cards out of the holders and the penny sleeves as i do not use them in my storage.

And some more Braves relics.

Here is the back of that Bazooka Andruw jersey card. Makes you think this is where the design for 2008 Topps came from, huh.

As usual I try to always grab some vintage non sports.

Well, boxing is a sport, but still vintage. I will be trading all of the above boxing and Man on the Moon cards with my OCT buds.

Some 2018 Topps inserts/parallels. And those 1994 Finest inserts are new to me, this was the first I'd seen them and they are absolutely more beautiful in hand.

See lots of 2018.

Now i know the last two are parallels, just don't ask my which one.

Some more Braves.

Would you believe i didn't own that 75' Aaron card? I didn't. Happy to grab the no name Chipper too.
It was free....

The next cards are some set building vintage high number grabs.

I showed the backs for the number range, but I picked up about 200 cards (most the higher numbers) from 1973 and a handful of 72's which were all high number.

A couple of vintage Braves knocked off of the want list along with the earlier Hank Aaron.

The Blanks rookie closes out my 73 Braves needs. Why is that important? I'm glad you asked. It is important because.....It completes my Braves TOPPS flagship/traded/update team run from 1973 through 1995. I do need three 95' Traded cards (128-Chipper, 132 Clontz, and 156 McGriff), those will take through 2000 Topps #237 Hank Aaron 755 HR and 3K hits, but then I need all but 1 of traded Braves cards. But that will take me to 2003 Traded, I need 6 of those (about half), then 1 from 04' traded 143 Capellan. 2005 I still need 691 and 723 then I'm good to 2009 and the SP 600 Maddux. In fact Just need the SP's (I do have some of them) the rest of the way to current.

As for the "pre 1973" I need 112 cards total. Mainly high numbers or Aaron with some Mathews and Spahn mixed in that takes me to 1951 and I do need all of them. The 72' and earlier like the Blanks above will get knocked off a couple at a time slowly but surely.

I knocked off 3 Trophy Cup needs too. I know Hutton has no cup, but I do build it with the "no cup" guys included.

I have no idea why I scanned these 3 cards, but this is a great place to stop.  I hope y'all enjoyed this card show teaser. Lots more to come.

Have a great night!

All "cracked up"

Julie hit me with a return package which pleased me. See, when I was at the Jax. card show 2 Saturdays ago, I was disappointed to start off the morning as no one had there "leftover" Heritage. I was hoping to clean up like normally, but alas no opened Heritage. I did watch a dealer bust a hobby box open and go figure he pulled the Ohtani autograph, and before he could slab it was offered $850.00. And he didn't take it.  WHAT>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>? He said they were selling on Ebay for $950.00. No I didn't offer anything. Hell, I wouldn't pay that much for every member of the 500 HR club (if they were all living) to sign together. The most I've ever paid (for an auto) is $50.00 and that was for a certified factory issued Mickey Mantle autographed card which I turned around an hour later and gave to my dealer buddy Bob in Ocala just so he would owe me. Now, i do wish I hadn't done that, but I did, and I never let Bob forget that I did that, lol. I should get back to the original post on some cards Julie over at A Cracked Bat sent me.

The complete Braves team set (minus 1 SP, but that's okay), oh yes she did. Thank you Julie! The day after I got these cards and OCT bud sent me a 1 card PWE.

Its hard to tell, but the bottom card here is a SSP color variation. The Atlanta and the A on the cap sort of glow. That's the only difference I see. But cool an SSP!

I had 1 of these long boy Braves already and Julie almost wiped out the team set for me. I now need just 3 more base.

There are 3 insert sets and Julie hooked me up with a Brave from each one.

But she didn't stop there.

My first and only Blue Wave refractor.

Julie sent a TREAT Coa Javy autograph too, plus some of this guy.

These 4 were needed in the team sets.  Julie thanks for a great package.

Have a good night all. We'll start the card show stuff next.

Vintage Braves

Part of the cleaning up feeling I got was not solely based on the Diamond Kings.

This baker's dozen had a little to do with it.

Love knocking off vintage Braves. Love love love..

Have a great night!

Cleaning up

Cleaning up.......That's how I felt after my recent COMC order came in a couple weeks ago.

This post will be part 1 of 2 posts. The second will be some Braves cards, but this one is for one of my "mini" collections.

Diamond Kings.  I've got the fever for these when the 1990 Donruss set came out. Yes! I said 1990 Donruss. I knew then I would be collecting these.

1997 Rookie DK's.

1998 DK's including a hard to come by sample. I don't see them often.

1998 Rookie DK's.

2015 All Time DK's.

2015 Base DK's.

2015 Stat Lines and Press Proofs.

2016 base DK's.

I should be ashamed for not having this collection complete or at least near complete. I am collecting all of the Donruss and now Optic Diamond Kings so I can't expect too much as far as the parallels go, but I should have the base done, but no where's near. I was really stoked to get these in.

Check back tomorrow to gander the Braves I added.

Holy Cow!

Seems like a month since I last posted, but 10 days.  This was not intentional, but I got caught up in sorting 250K cards I brought back from Jax. Good news though, they are sorted. At least into the Braves, set builds, mini collections, PC guys, and y'alls stacks. Yep, set builds are already done and updated on the website, yay. Well, the stacks for you'ds guys (play on words from some movie) are not broken down to the individual stacks yet. More good news, these cards are from those years that we all NEED! 96-06! Yipee.  Anyways, I did scan some stuff from the show, but saving those posts for another time. Just a quick thank you post for some cards I got in a week or so ago.

A mini Zapping from Kenny. I needed all of these guys. thanks Kenny!
Tomorrow will be my latest COMC order, then later in the week another quick thank you to Julie before i start the Card Show posts.

Have a great night, man I missed typing that........

Wax packs

I build sets along with everything else I do. Mainly the flagship of each major brand. ie: Topps, Upper Deck, Fleer, Donruss, Bowman and the like. There are exceptions of course such as I take all normal Pacific cards like Paramount, Omega, Invincible, etc.... I also build Stadium Club, Greats/Greats of the Game, SP Legendary Cuts, SP/SP Authentic, Kellogg's, Post, and Hostess. You get the idea..... Well, I've always put off the UD and Bowman's. I don't know why they come last, but anyway I decided to knock out some of my Upper Deck needs when I realized several sets only had a few cards. I went to Ebay to try a find either sets or wax boxes. What I found was wax packs and not the ones you usually see (the crappy junk wax- 100 cards in sealed packs) pure crap those shouldn't even be allowed. I stumbled on some cool packs when I was searching 2007 UD. Well, the seller had 3 lots running with BIN. I scooped em all.

Paramount, and Ovation with three Topps sets I'm working on. Plus minor league. There were 14 of the 2006 Update HOBBY packs, 24 Hobby packs of the 2005 Topps, 6 Hobby packs of the 2013 Topps, 19 packs of the Paramount, 13 packs of the UD minor league, and 6 packs of the 2002 Ovation.

2002 Platinum: 6 hobby packs, 2005 Gallery: 4 packs, 2003 UD Vintage: 2 hobby packs, 2002 Genuine: 3 hobby packs, 2002 Flair: 7 packs, 2002 Honor Roll: 3 packs. Just look at the sticker prices on some of those packs. $6-8.  And I got a lot of packs too.

And the 2007 UD that caused me to stumble on these lots: 14 hobby packs, 2002 Ultra: 4 Hobby packs.

Lots of ripping and I was done the next day.  I only scanned the highlights, inserts, hits, etc.

Believe it or not that Braves autograph was the first card in the first pack I opened. I just knew it was going to be a super fun ripping session.

I pulled three copper Braves parallels, but not a single (Braves) base that I needed from the Paramount. But parallels are good too especially when you need them.

I would have much preferred that very colorful Stitches relic be Javy Lopez, but beggars can't be choosers.

Pretty sure it's a little too late to claim that Greinke auto. Shucks.

That was the highlights of the rip, and it was a blast. BTW, in the end of the 3 lots was a total of 122 packs for under a Benjamin delivered. You just can't beat that.

Have a great night all, I'm heading off to Jacksonville tomorrow.

You can call me Jay

Rather you can call this post the J's. Just don't call them late for breakfast. ( I would have said dinner, but us Correct coast folks have typically eaten dinner already).

There are 17 players in the PC in this category.  Lots of old favorites, some really old, some from the modern age including one of today's hottest stars. You know who that is.

Bo Jackson: 160 different

Joe Jackson: 3

Reggie Jackson: 202 different

Travis Jackson: 1

Fergie Jenkins: 49 different

Fergie got two this go round to show. What I have been doing is showing the oldest card for each player that was updated. Although I could have chosen JUST the lowest number, I decided to show both of these 70's.

Hughie Jennings: 1

Derek Jeter: 402 different.

Tommy John: 48 different

I love adding rookies to the PC!

Ban Johnson: zero cards

Judy Johnson: I have some in the next update.

Randy Johnson: 362 different.

Walter Johnson: 18 different.

Andruw Jones: 39

Okay, so I scanned 3, but after all he is a Brave. This is a "mainly" Braves Blog. Andruw is still relatively new to the PC, so I still have a lot of his cards to pull out of my Braves dupes, inserts, parallels, etc.....  No doubt (cue music,  JK) that he will catch up to the other Braves in the PC.

Chipper Jones: 428 different.

These 4 Rookies hit a lot of collector's "mini" collections. Bat barrel, minor league gold (Durham Bulls), O-Pee-Chee, and Gold.

Michael Jordan: 133 different.

Yes, he was basketball player, but he does have baseball cards too. I scanned all of these because I have absolutely no idea of what or when they are from.

A look at the backs in case some of you may know the years and makes of these cards.

Addie Joss: I have a couple in the next update stack.

That brings us to the last player in the J's.

Aaron Judge: 17 different.

Have a great night!
