Topps had a pretty good year in 2024. They improved their Flagship design. They massively improved their Holiday set design. But, they didn't stop there.
Topps did a major overhaul of their silly parallel set of 582 Montgomery too. This is the complete Braves team set. Christmas night I used one of the gift cards I had gotten earlier in the day over at Dave & Adams to purchase the complete set. Got a great deal on it too $49.00 which is cheaper than the MOST of the factory flagship sets. (I've seen some of those going for a little less lately). It shipped the day after Christmas and I got a few days later before the end of the year. That was nice too.
I pulled my Braves obviously as well as all PC guys, then I pulled some other "team" cards for regular bloggers/commenters so some of you will be getting a bunch of these (less the PC guys of mine :).
This is a HUGE improvement over that singular stamp Topps used to use. I am pleased. I hadn't seen any before I opened the set up, and man was I surprised. I immediately checked out the All-Star Game factory set, and yep Topps improved that one too. I couldn't pull the trigger on any of the complete sets as the cheapest one of those was $77.00. Not doing that. But.....I had forgotten that I already loaded one of the many Sport Lots orders with them. Well, all but 2 of them anyways. When I did that I did not know there was a design change. I was just getting my Braves for the team set builds. That particular Sport Lots box order should have been here before I got the D&A order in, but the package had gotten "lost" in Wisconsin for 2 weeks. Finally it showed up Friday night. Low and behold inside the 225 card order were 27 of the 29 Braves ASG set. I order so much from there that I tend to forget what I have gotten. Right now I have a couple hundred in my box, and another 400 on the way to the box. Once they get there I will request all of those to be shipped.
Meanwhile....
For some reason the ASG cards didn't scan as nice as the Montgomery cards, but in hand they look good too. Don't get me wrong here. I am pleased with the improvements that Topps made this year all around, however I still think that these two sets are completely useless (other than completing team set). The same can be said of all of those silly parallel designs out there, thank goodness those don't come in factory set form.
The Sport Lots order that brought the ASG in had 225 cards like I said more than half of which were Braves (then as always I wind up duplicating some of the cards). I will get those posted in a couple of weeks. I have other stuff to get to before the rest of this order.
Have a great night!
Not a fan of exclusive clubs, so never liked Montgomery Club cards, especially when they don't change the design (I see what you're saying, it's better than a single stamp, but wow that's busy).
ReplyDeleteThose look really nice. I have never seen them until now. I remember seeing some 582's from an earlier year set on other posts. Have a great night all!
ReplyDeleteD'Arnaud classic catchers card!
ReplyDelete$49 for the Braves team set? Wow. That 582 Montgomery set must be really rare.
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOOO. $49 for the complete sealed factory set. 660 cards.
DeleteI think Topps had a good year of parallels. All in all, 2024 Topps looked nice across all the various sets and parallels.
ReplyDeleteThe Arcia cards are amazing. The photographer did a good job on that one.
ReplyDeleteI think you and all the other bloggers have changed what I like in cards. I actually like that iteration of the Montgomery cards!
