Card show continuation

Prayers to the Giambi family. RIP Jeremy.

Picking up where I left off on Tuesday with cards from table 1 (Fred).

I really like the Mosaic Aces, especially that Clemens parallel. That Boudreau parallel ain't bad either. Looks like I turned the Koufax & Cody the wrong way.

Green Alonso. Betts refractor.

Benny rookie, that Betts (in service) is great.

As you can tell I grabbed a lot of parallels. I also grabbed a lot more Chronicles. I figured at .40 why not.

I put a big dent in the Revolution needs, and while I was at it grabbed some Revolution parallels too (below).

The Pink Pulsars were sweet gets.

I'm sure you're pooped out on the Chronicles, but I promise you won't see anymore, well until the dime cards I snagged. Most of those were from previous years.

One more post from Fred's tables tomorrow.

My uncle had another very good day today, not bad for not sleeping last night. I had to put him on his side because of a bed sore. He doesn't sleep on his side so he was bitching all night.... all night. I put him in bed early tonight so he can get some sleep, he was kind of out of it hearing stuff. Hopefully he sleeps all night and we have another good day tomorrow. Now for some "odd" news about him. He did not lose his taste sensation from Covid (can't wait to tell and chew the Dr's ass out). Remember he had ZERO symptoms. He was eating food until he was on the covid ward and they gave him sleeping pills and changed his BP meds. He did lose his taste sensation with the exception of the Pedialyte (too sweet for him) and anything strawberry. Apparently, twenty years ago this happened to him in North Carolina and ultimately switched him from the BP meds to what he currently takes. That "bad" med was the very one he has made clear he doesn't ever want, and yet this Dr. doesn't listen especially if my uncle is in the hospital. Three times (over 6 years) I've had this argument with that Doc. over amlodipine. My understanding from Fred was that it drys his mouth out to the point of disgust. Today, I found out when talking to his god-daughter that was the cause of the taste lost except for strawberries 20 yrs ago. That time it lasted 2 1/2 years back then according to her. I certainly hope that isn't the case this go around. So there you have it, this near 99 year old man kicked Covid's ass (never even knew he had it and doesn't really understand the "Virus" at all anyways). He hears "vaccine" and thinks they are talking about Vaseline, lol. I sent him to the hospital because of the severe allergic reaction to Keflex given to him that very day. Here you have another "covid hospitalization" on the books that was not or ever a covid case, he simply tested positive he was there for something else. I did agree to let them give him the Rendesvir, I figure that was a couldn't hurt thing. Well, except for them giving him 3 Rx that I specifically told them not too. He had PT yesterday and will again tomorrow. I'm going to get this guy walking again like I started before he "got sick" last month. It had been 3 years since he last walked then. Now just to get the taste buds firing on all cylinders and heal that bed sore. All will be good.

Looking back at the last 2 weeks, strawberry (protein) milk shakes, strawberry ice cream and fresh strawberries, it all makes sense to me now. Although he is liking the peach ice cream too. He is asking for chocolate. I'll have to go fetch some tomorrow. It just didn't make any sense that he would lose his taste buds AFTER recovering from Covid. That is usually what lets some people know they have it. I feel so relieved and I really am looking forward to chewing the Dr. out. After all, he works for us, not the other way around. I'm going to make if absolutely clear if he ever goes against my orders again..... he'll be fired, and a complaint with CMS/HHS. I should do that anyways because of the current situation, but although I am angry (something people that know me never want to do) and would take great pleasure in the most horrific and miserable pain I could inflict upon him, I know that revenge doesn't help my uncle not to mention I'm pretty sure I have enough on my plate already.

Yes, I am smiling writing that.

OPC

No Wacky cards tonight. Just a few as in three cards recently in from OPC.com.

A few more vintage Braves.... Bowman Braves knocked off the team needs. In fact I am getting really really close to completing the Bowman vintage Braves. here's the run down.

1948: need #18 Spahn

1949: I need most of them and will be working on them immediately.

1950: I need 1 base card: 248 Jethroe and 2 no copy right variations (Reiser & Chipman).

1951: complete with the two above, yippee!

1952: need #244 Burdette.

1953: color complete. B/W: I have 2 in my ComC inventory leaving me just 1 short: #38 Dave Cole

1954: complete

1955: #179 Hank Aaron.

As for the rest of the Bowman Braves I only need two of those too.

2008: #223 Brandon Jones & #230 Clint Sammons

So close to completing the entire Bowman Braves run. I'm happy about that!

My uncle had a great day today. Also finally after being home from the hospital for 2 full weeks, the home care came out- the physical therapist the same one that worked with my uncle for 2 1/2 years back 2017-2019. My hopes are heightened.

Slow going

The last few days have been slow going in regards to my uncle. Friday and Saturday were good days. Sunday was so so, and yesterday and today just nothing although is is more alert tonight.

I did go to Jax. on Saturday. I only visited two tables, spent all of my time at those tables.

The first was at Fred's table (not my uncle). Usually this is where I get the best deals, but not on this trip. Still good though.

I picked up almost 500 cards individually picked after sorting through boxes and boxes. Wound up paying apx. 40 cents a piece. Pricey for me.

Not the only relic.

Here are two more including the blue parallel. I'm not much of a prospector (unless it is a Brave). But these names were familiar enough for me to grab.

That first Jeter there is nice. Not really sure what it is, some online exclusive thing I'm sure.

Probably don't need those Trouts but I'll find out towards years end.

Boggy rookie for cheap.

A couple of pink pulsars from this year's Chronicles. Those are little tougher than the easy to get purple velocity cards.

I'll spread the haul (about half the haul from Fred's table was scanned) over the week. Then I will get to the 2nd table where I came home with 1500 cards at a dime a piece. Dime cards are good.

From here to there

And everywhere in between. It's time to wrap up the long scanned Chronicles running from Timeless Talents to Zenith.

The only thing missing from this set are logos. The design is great and most cards aren't hurt without a logo present.

Eh, not a big fan of Titan. No matter what size you view just seems like another chrome"y" like card.

Titanium is nice, but so is.....

Nice thick card stock too.

And lastly, you have Zenith. Kind of dull looking here, it isn't this bad in hand.

My uncle had a so so day Sunday but Friday and Saturday were both great days.  Today was one of the not good days.

The Pinnacle that led to a Revolution of Newbies and Stars is a Score

 I couldn't come up with anything better....so.....

This years pinnacle is much in line with every year of Pinnacle, kind of bland. Simple yes, and I like that, but still bland. Maybe the no logo thing hurts his set.

The shish kabobs' over at Panini decided to make Revolution this year as basically an insert. WTF it's a 100 card set. This set since they started has always had a few parallels, this year several more, and none of them make any sense. Otherwise the base is good, I like it.

I believe without the star design these cards might look pretty good.

Panini usually does pretty good with the Score brand, these are nice.

We'll wrap this year's Chronicles up probably on Monday. Just need to get through the weekend.

Now for the uncle update: To keep it somewhat simple I have just copied a response I made on yesterday's post comments: Here we go:

The big problem I'm having is he has given up and wants to die. In his wisdom 3 decades ago he made it clear that sick/ill persons do not make rational decisions and he put his living will in place and kept it updated every five years or so. We last did it in 2018 before his cognitive issues were relevant. Since pulling him off the sleeping pills last year he was better cognitively and physically. Just last month started walking and standing again after not doing so in 3+ years. Wonderful, and as his full POA I am honoring what was his wishes which was under NO circumstance do we give up/pull the plug so to speak even though that is what he wants me to do now. He was wise and knew what he wanted and that once sick would not be able to keep that frame of mind. I completely understand what he was thinking back then and he was right. Living wills are important and rid one from having to make decisions based on purely compassion. That is what Hospice is for. I know that most people choose the opposite way to go without misery and suffering in the living wills, he didn't which also aligns with my own decisions regarding my life and choice. I want to be kept alive unless I am 100% and in writing that I am completely brain dead. Still yet this is so hard.... sickening. I've explained all of this to him, but he is only concerned about his current misery and does not understand that if he would only eat and drink everything (other than the taste thing) is recoverable 100%. He made a wise choice to make me the POA knowing I would keep it all business, but it is so hard even for me. I appreciate those prayers please keep them coming. It won't be long before his dehydration shuts down his kidneys, I am getting protein in him, just not enough fluids.

Then, you have days like today which was almost normal from 10am til 4pm he was great, said his bottom was hurting (massive hemorrhoid) and he will never push, so what's inside must be removed manually (because nothing gets it out as he holds it in) which also "kills him" until your done anyways. I know that's gross, but it is what it is. So, yes a great day today especially when compared to the week we just finished. I need a break so I am actually still going to go to Jax tomorrow. I just pray he has another good day tomorrow.  I feel better getting all of that off my chest.

The Magnitude of the situation and beyond.

Dual meaning post title there. My uncle is not faring well. I was able to get the frozen protein shake in him, but other than that he is non responsive two days in a row. I have not given up hope, I won't do that after all I am as stubborn as he is.

Magnitude to me is by far the toughest to come by at cheap prices.  They are a clear acetate card like the Clear Vision and Clearly Donruss cards.

Over Drive seems to be one of the most common sets.

The Harper in the middle is one of the Holo prizm cards (I still need the base).

Same deal with Ohtani (I need to pull that one out of the binder and replace it with a base card).

I purposely used blue for the text color tonight because that is how I am feeling. Frustrated, sad, angry, and just about everything else.
