Merry Christmas

My usual Christmas day post. But first, Happy birthday Jesus!

I haven't updated this mini collection in quite some time, but these are a few athletes sharing this birthday.

The Babe.

Apologies upfront, there a just a few risque cards below.......

How'd I do?

Well, the end of the year is close enough for me to do my year end posts.

I'll start with the hobby goals for 2020.

1) Stay away from retail blasters. I give myself an A, not A+ as I did buy some of 1 product.

2) Add at least 1 T206 card. A+. I blew this one out of the park. Take a look see.

BTW, the adds were Braves.

Let's look at those Braves. The topps two cards in the scans above are not in the below scan.

Braves haves 9 of 12. I still need Beaumont, Ferguson, and Starr. I did have opportunities to get those, but I passed several chances.

I might as well show off the rest (non Braves) of the T206 White Border Collection.

Definitely A+

3) Update/organize my "mini collections". I am going to fail myself here for a couple of reasons.

I did manage to get "gathered" most of them and taken back home. They will still require a LOT more work. I did however lose at least one. My "Same Name" is now a defunct cause. The cards that were here in GA have been dumped into the dupes boxes with the exception of the fantastic "customs" by Gavin over at BCB. Those are sitting here on my desk.  There are a LOT of those. Thanks again Gavin for all the work you did.

4) This one was HUGE. To straighten up all of my set builds that were in single boxes by set sitting on my bedroom floor back home. Here is the origin goal:

#4) Another big one. Straighten up the hundreds of set build boxes that are sitting in my bedroom back home in Ocala. Maybe consolidate them by brands and put into larger monster boxes to reduce the clutter (until I get them put into binders). Also this is similar, but get the Braves keepers that are also in my bedroom either put into binders or at least into larger boxes. In other words I need to "CLEAN MY BEDROOM".

HUGE success! A+ without a doubt. I managed to get all of the "set build" boxes not only picked up, but placed into binders. HUGE deal. Expensive indeed, but I took the money that I was not spending on blasters and card shows and put toward the supplies needed. I am happy to say that only a handful of brands (odd/off-brand) are yet to be put into about 4 binders. I even managed to scan many of the completed sets. Those are on my others BLOGS, dedicated by Product. Topps, Stadium Club, Upper Deck, Donruss, Fleer, Score, Pinnacle, etc. I was kicking butt on getting those scanned to those blogs from Jan. through October. I gave up on the task for now,  for November and December. I really want to get all of the completed binders back home (FL) and ultimately (when I am back home permanently) placed on bookshelves. This really was a Big Deal. I am quite proud for getting it dang near completed task.  I did not however, get to those Braves keeper boxes in my bedroom. That will have to be task for when I am actually living back home.

5) Last goal was to shed some of those cards back home sitting in the monster boxes in my garage, aka my dupes. Several hundred thousand cards are sitting in those boxes.  Here is that "original" goal post:

#5) Shed some cards from the dupe boxes sitting in my garage back home. Should be easy to give away cards, right?  The biggest issue here.....Shipping. There is probably somewhere around a half million cards in monster boxes out in the garage. I'd like to get it down to hardly any. I know that isn't going to happen, but an attempt is a win here.

I did manage to give away a lot of cards this year. I gave away a lot. Contest and games galore. But I never touched the cards back home, as I had and still have at least a 100,000 dupes here. I will give myself a pass on this one, but it is not what I was hoping at least 1 year ago. I did say that an attempt would be a win. I am actually glad that I didn't shed a half million cards, and I will explain that in a future post.

So there you have my "How'd I do post".

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone.

Wacky Wednesday November 2020

Here is the Topps monthly run of of WP.

Puzzle 1.

Puzzle 2.

The 4 ad backs that I got.

Last month I got 3 of the 4 Guest Artist cards and just 1 of the Wonky Package cards.

The 2 checklists.  Dece, mber will have 5 weeks in it. I have already got week 1 in hand, week 2 is en-route, 3 is ordered, and I am ordering week 4 today. Week 5 will be ordered next week and it will be the last for me.

Topps' went crazy (probably me too) doing a $15.00 a week thing (plus tax). I figured I would try it this year (2020) to see how it went. It did not go well and here is why.

Too damn expensive this way. 7 cards for $15.00.

Quality sucked. (miscuts etc).

The cards were subbed out to someone/group down in Florida. I'm sure Covid didn't help when it came to shipping, but there was a bigger issue that can only be pointed to pure STUPIDITY. At times I would be waiting on as many as 6 weeks at a time that were processing. Then suddenly there would be 3 even 4 weeks worth ship out on the same day. My issue the idiots couldn't figure out that they were going to the same address and processed and shipped them separately. Easily could have went into 1 package same shipping cost, not that I was paying for shipping it was free to me (sort of). It isn't like there was a mass customer base as ALL print runs were in the hundreds. Surely it was the same group of us ordering each week, at least the majority. I can not accept that kind of laziness or inefficiency. My guess is that that person/s (I actually believe there were two different people) just didn't care. "Not my money" attitude. I say 2 people as the bubble mailers used in shipping were the LARGE ones (like 8x10 kind) on every order. They came folded in one of two different ways over the course of the year and only 2 ways period. I am dead serious when I say they could have fit the entire years run into just one of the mailers. Maybe 2 because they did put each 7 card order into a hard plastic box. Again this points to a complete waste of money.....their money not mine. Shit like this annoys the hell out of me. People are supposed to care about their work, be proud of it (this does not mean that you have to like the work). It doesn't matter if you make $8.00 an hour or $100.00, whether your digging ditches, shoveling shit, or performing brain surgery. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways with that bitching done I am making it clear that I am officially announcing that I will not be participating in the Topps Wacky Packages weekly deals for next year. Unless, Topps comes out with an old fashion set issued in packs or boxes, my Wacky Package run is done. 1960's through 2020.

So disappointed in Topps, but then again what else should I have expected from a Global Conglomerate Disney subsidy.

I feel better now (not really), how about you?

I could easily throw in some scans of some cards here, but no I'm not going too. I will use this special number post for something special. Very special, and I am shocked that I haven't seen anything on my blog roll about from yesterday or today. So I 'll do it here. It is that special.

MLB has now included the 7 Negro League teams/players into the Major League classification. Well past due. Now maybe we will see some more of those guys in the sets (once they get the licensing re-done).

Yes, I do have that great set, but I posted it in it's entirety earlier this year.

Blame these on Fuji

A week or two ago mark (SanJoseFuji) posted about an online shop..... Cincy Cards. I commented that I would check them out. I did and here are the cards I picked up from them.

O'Hearn is for the birthday binders and the other 3 are for the PC binders.

here are the Braves I grabbed up. The 2013 Topps Upton is the variation photo. I guess I need to thank Mark for these Braves (and others) being added to my collection for providing the link in his post. Thanks.

A delayed trade post......VERY DELAYED

Just like the title says.....delayed trade post.

Oh about 6/7 months ago (June 6th) Brian from Collecting Cutch and I agreed to swap some Honus Bonus cards. I was to send him the 1/1 Cutch and he was going to send me two Freeman 1/1's. I was all in on that. Thing is the Freeman's never showed up.......That is until today DEC. 17th, 2020.

No, this was not Brian's fault, apparently the post office was taking their time.

Check that date out. June 20.  Someone wrote in ink pen down below instructions to deliver to the right address. Go figure.

Talk about being surprised. Even more so once I ripped into the bubble mailer.

Sure enough, there are my Freeman's. But wait.....there was more inside.

Gold box loader numbered to 10 Smoltz,

and yet there was more

A pair of Cutch cards.

Brian thank you very much, BTW....I got them. LOL.

On a side note....I want to thank Bo and Jeremy for sending along some of those set build needs I posted last month.

Get your tickets out.

Remember those tickets that was in your Big Fun winnings? Well.....time to pick and show the winning ticket.

Okay so the name is written on the front. Jafronius did you save this ticket? I hope so, if you did rather than mail it to me, just scan it and send me an e-mail showing the ticket. Also lmk what is in your collection.

Thanks to all of you who played this year. If jafronius can't find his ticket I'll have to draw another.
