How about a little Hank?

Hank Aaron: In my opinion, the true Home Run King (for now anyways). There isn't an asterisk that will appear by his name. That isn't to say, that I didn't like McGwire or even Sosa back in the day, I did. Not now and yes I do collect their cards. I had gotten rid of most of them including Mac's RC, but since decided why shouldn't I collect them after all I did enjoy their cards at one time, those are memories that can not be taken away with the scandal. Enough of that, back to Hank.

I have some Hank in my Hall Worthy binders, duh he is a HOFer. The difficult part for me is that any Hank I get first goes to the team set, and only doubles go into the Hall Worthy binder along with all the odd balls and inserts. Thus you will see a few "lesser conditioned" but still well loved cards.

Like I said well loved. I do not have a lot of Aaron in my team set binders therefore there isn't a lot of vintage in the Hall Worthy binders.

Another nice mini.

Base card.

 Mini version.

Black mini.

Mini.

That makes up the entire Hank Aaron collection in the Hall Worthy Binders. I know it is weak, but it will grow over time. More import would be catching the Aarons' needed for the Braves team sets, and then eventually I will go back  to set building (rather buying complete sets already) but that is no where in the near future.

Holy Toledo...... It's Franken Friday

Howdy folks, I hope the coming weekend has everyone in good spirits.

We are up to pages 67, 68, and 69 in the Franken Set scans.

Page 67: 9/9 complete.

A couple of HOfers.  No repeat players, however the 90 fleer has 3 appearances.

Page 68: 6/9

This page has a great start for no repeat sets or players. Now if we can just fill that middle row with some vintage or oddballs. Topps, Score, Upper Deck, Fleer, and Donruss.

Page 69:  9/9 complete.

Perfect page, sort of. It could've been better with some vintage cardboard and some Hofers.

Enjoy your weekend!

A box, that isn't 2x3

Huh? Jeff from 2x3heroes sent me a small flat rate box full of goodies. Jeff usually specializes in the PWE, in case you didn't know he has a PWE club which I am proudly a member. Check his blog headers.

The box Jeff sent me besides being out of the ordinary was filled with the out of ordinary cards. First we will look at the more customary cards Jeff hit me up with.

Braves for the team sets binderS.

More for the team set binderS, including the two black parallels. To my surprise, the GOG is the first Braves from the 2000 set in my collection.

The two Star Quest's were needed parallels, but the two Chippers are going into the Chipper binder with my Hall Worthy cards as I already had them in the team sets. Yep, works for me.

Now on the uncustomary cards Jeff filled the rest of the box with. I mean filled.

Okay, will keep these.

Falcons, yep keeping these. One of these days, I may just have to go through and catalog my Falcons & Buccaneers Binders.

Yep, keeping em. Can you believe the Buc's dealt Glennon away a couple weeks back?

One for the Buccaneers in the Background Binder, and two for the Gators Binder.

THE TRADE BAIT cards.

The top card is a mini in case you couldn't tell.  That Steve Young is earmarked for a lady friend at the Post Office. The Clarity card is the thickest card I've ever seen, it had to to be the entire pack. It is a clear plastic (the best I can tell) over an 1/8 inch think, maybe a 1/4 inch. Being in Florida, my vendor buddy Bob, may want dibs on it.

More for my friend at the PO. She is a die hard 49ers fan. Willis is her guy.

Another 49er for her. And notice the Leaf Certified, higher end stuff there and Jeff loaded this box up with it as you will see soon.

Another 49er and a gold Paralell.

That Luck Air Mail is a nice die cut.

Just look at all of those high end sets. Jeff made sure he packed quite a few of those Strata cards too.

The last four cards today are KEEPERS.

The Big Hurt sporting his football uniform. A Miller card for my PC. The other two just so happen to fit into my Flag/patriotic binder.

Jeff, thanks for the awesome cards.

Brian's Break

I was blessed to have participated in the "group" break held by brian over at "highly restrictive and completely arbitrary".  Picked up some cards for the binders, let us break them down.

The Braves had 3 cards in the 2002 GOG set, and I did get them all. I already had the Murphy, but you will still see that card later.

2002 Gallery: Braves have 8 cards in the checklist, and here are five of them plus the two that I already had leaves me just needing one more #57 to close out this set now.

I haven't checked Beckett to see how many Braves are in this checklist (96 Pinnacle). I now have a total of 12 cards (3 Chippers and 2 Maddux). I definitely need all of the foil parallels.

2003 Stadium Club: I show a checklist with 11 Braves whereas 3 have hobby versions & retail versions. I'm not sure if the box from this break was retail or Hobby (I think Hobby). I have 7 of the 11. I need Chipper #66, #81 ?, and two of three retail versions (I believe) #112 Betemit and #118 LaRoche. You can see teh Laroche & Betemit above. Again, I believe those are Hobby versions.  I did get Marte as well which was the version that I didn't have so I know I have both versions of that card. The photos are different slightly with his necklace flinging in the air in one shot and not the other.

I also was fortunate to get 2 Gold parallels from the break. Chipper, just can't go wrong with a Chippa! And also got LaRoche Gold.

Now on to my the best box from the break as far as Braves go.

Base & Gold Chippa!

Gold Maddux.

A base Maddux.

A Tucker Gold, and the photo shot of all of them the Andruw over the Wall shot.  How cool is that card?

Below are the actual inserts I got:

Those two Ultra's make them 9 cards to the TSC's 7. In case you were wondering why I said the Ultra was my best box from the break.  The bottom two inserts you see were throw in from Brian (thank you), but he didn't stop there. he threw these in too:

Hey if you're going to throw in something why not some good ole vintage 65s. How great is that?

Now lets discuss the doubles I got/had.

4 More Ultra and 2 TSC. see Ultra still wins. That Marte IS AND WAS NOT a double, I mentioned above about it being the "other" version. I just didn't catch it before i scanned it. Now let's look at the cards, there is a bunting card although I am not collecting them anymore 9 I probably should of put that in the stack of bunts that are up for trades (262ish unique), but I didn't it is now mixed amongst my Braves dupes. The Neagle has been placed in my signing binder (one of the few mini collections that I decided to keep). Leaving us the Glavine for the Glavine binder. Braves are tough on my Hall Worthy binders effectively making me need doubles of all of them. But hey this one has a home there now. I have made some progress on my Players Collection page on my website.

No, we're not done yet.

Three more Ultra, ANY QUESTIONS? The Maddux makes a new home in the Maddux binder (like the Glavine). Go figure I already had both base and gold of Graffanino.

The last three. As I mentioned at the start of this post, that Murphy made the complete team set, and I did have one, but guess what....I needed one in the Hall Worthy binder. The same goes for McGriff, he also goes in those binders.

Brian, thanks for a great Break! Working on your return.
