Shadow Shots

Hi all, welcome to the very first "Shadow Shots" segment. I want to start out by explaining the collection itself. I do NOT actively seek the cards, but set them aside when opening packages from trades, purchases, etc.... The idea is to have as many different players as I can without seeking them out. I allow 3 spots for each player plus an extra slot called "other".   First requirement, the player having a shadow whether large or small, dark or light, speck or spot, just a shadow preferably of themselves. The slots are "position" which simply means they are shown playing their positions, 2nd slot is for "batting" (or on deck) with the bat usually visible whether in hand or not, the third slot is "bases", the player running the bases (not taking off from home plate). The 4th slot is there due to the fact that a lot of cards are "posed" and just don't fit the 3 mentioned slots.

Predominantly Pitchers have the most Shadow shots for obvious reasons, and such usually have the best shadow shots. I treat them a little different than the position players, as I allow them 4 shots from the mound, but gladly replace those when a card falls into the other categories, but first they must be a double if they are bunting, batting, running bases as that is another "mini' ALL BY ITSELF. One shared by other bloggers as well.  I've seen some super sweet shadows, perfect silhouettes from other bloggers, and those would definitely fit in here, but I look at the oddness of the shadow, the shape, can I see something else? It doesn't happen a lot and I won't be showing all of my shadow shots to you. I will pick some out each Saturday, typically in alphabetical order As, Bs, Cs, Ds, get it. But to start off I will show 3 that I like a lot.

I see a Tele-Tubby their with Nomo,  Maddux: a Pokemon, and Scanlan a Dragon head

Well, let's get rolling with A's:

Nothing special with Aardsma other than this is the actual first card in the collection.

Just a weird shape on the above Agosto, but look below: A turn arrow like the ones on the road

That came from the Agosto card below.

Nothing happening with the Alomar shadow, but just a great card!

Look a half of a star, or at least I believe that's what it would like if it went over the mound. My warped mind.

 Can you the Superman "S"

Below we have 2 Ankiel's One pitching, and one playing the outfield.

I know the shadow's aren't much on either card, but they are there, LOL. Notice both jersey numbers.

I see a peace sign, do you? Take a closer look

Let's try a few of B's

I see a hand extended out for a handshake. I flipped it below.

there isn't anything special about the Blauser you see below, other than its a BRAVE! But, let's look at the backside of the card.

Ah, a broken bat, makes the card interesting enough for this collection and yes broken bats are another mini, again just needs to be a double to make it here with the shadow of course. Who doesn't have extras of 1993 Upper Deck.

That's enough for tonight, I promise there are plenty of interesting shadows (or other factors) that will pop up as we go through. One thing that I will say is that the 1989 Upper Deck has absolutely the most Shadow cards, with 1989 Score a close second.

Shadow Shots

Not putting too many out there today.

Starting out with a piece of vintage cardboard. i don't actually see anything in this particular shadow. I pulled it because it just doesn't look real. I guess you can say it has a goofy or pluto like head but then the body is all wacky. I thought it worthy of a scan.

No reason for this one to be in there, but again its a piece of vintage and it a good example of what kind of Shadow Shots get put into the "other" category.

Two almost identical shots producing the almost identical shadows.

Nothing special about the Boddicker card. I just like the square shape near the middle.

Hark, who goes there? Its me a dinosaur.

Just a shadow I don't get.

A normal requirement to make the "Shadow Box" (Notice the play on words) The shadow would need to be on the ground, made an exception for the Buhner wall shot because of the card back.

Great card back, can't go wrong sharing a card with Jr.

I don't know what to make of the above shadow, especially when i can't find the card it came from. I guess it looks like a crab sort of or a running animal.

\The Genie coming out of the bottle.

A rat sniffing the ground. Okay maybe a mouse with a fat tail.

 Donald Duck bobble head.

And the last card is Beltre. I'm not sure if it's the venus flytrap shadow or Beltre blowing air into his cheeks. either way this card had to finish this post. Next week we move on to the letter C.

A gripping end

A few more GRIPS to carry through the rest of the day.

Normally I don't like the ball grip shot at the face (too posed), but that is an awesome Karsay. Oh look another double dip for Ethan, hehe maybe.....

Technically that Franco isn't a GRIP card, but it is as good as any.

Great SHADOW SHOT (another future SAT/Sun regular post I plan on doing). I'm not sure what the title will be exactly. I'm torn between just "SHADOW SHOTS", Super Saturday (or Sunday) Shadow Shots Segment. I leaning towards "shadow shots"  and just making it a Sat. or Sun. thing.

COMMENT TO LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.

More GRIPS for now.

Some minor leaguers. How long before those smirks were wiped off their faces?

Love those Condos  in the background.

That's all folks!

Shadow shots

Okay my mind isn't seeing a lot of weird things this week in the shadows, but here goes anyways.

Not to many shadow shots while the turning third. Here I see a bird, (the finger bird that is).

A crab. If the shadow could be in color, I bet it would be BLUE.

A question mark      ?

I have no clue why I scanned this one, I don't even like it. I guess it sort of weird.

Your guess is as good as mine.

I got this one..... A monkey on the run.  Great shot with the batter as well.

Oh look another Olympic torch, lol. I think that it has other possibilities too.

An upside down "u" or you could say a reverse "n"

The Escobar is one that I posted in my favorites post. It isn't my favorite, but one of them. Today I see a bearded dragon.

Just a nice shadow, although you could argue that it looks like Faries has boobs there.

Another great shadow. Like someone practicing karate. Wax on Wax off, I'm not sure.

It's dark, but I see nothing else

Here is another card I can't remember what I saw, but I did before.

Sid made the scan because it looks like he's missing half of his body. A half man I guess. Of course it could be anything else too, especially if it were rotated.

Hee hee. A scaredy cat. You know what I'm talking about.

Here just because it is a play at the wall shadow.

Looks like a stiffy, the shadow. Get your minds out of the gutter

Finishing up here with this one. I kindly remind you that I have a somewhat warped mind or sense of humor. You can think about what you see here, but this shadow makes me think about the movie "Entrapment" with Catherine Zeta-Jones. Yeah you know the scene that I'm talking about..... The butt scene, where she is sliding under the lasers in those very tight and nicely fit leather pants. Yeah!!!
