Feeling a bit festive. Time for some interactive posts coming.

Now that we are in December I am feeling a little bit festive. By that I mean that I feel like having a few giveaways! Nothing extravagant, but still nice especially for free.

I have three cards in mind right now. Saturday I was digging through a dime box, bought a couple thousand cards. Paid a penny a piece for them and one of them just so happen to be a 2022 Panini Diamond Kings red framed Masterpiece 1 of 1. Yep, a 1 of 1 for a penny. I know no logos doesn't add value to a 1/1, still it is a rookie card. Who is the rookie you ask?  Eli Morgan formerly of Cleveland, now with the Cubs. I know that doesn't make it more valuable either. Hey for a reliever out half the 2024 year 3-0 record ERA 1.93, who knows it may grow. So, that will be the first of the giveaways.

I like the interactive aspect of giving away cards so let me think of what you can do tonight for a chance at this card. HEHEHE, the Grinch just gave me a good idea. Yes I said good. What was that idea you ask? Well, with the 3 cards thus far (I'll probably dig out another to go 4). One giveaway each week, and to qualify for the next week you have to play the previous week. Why is that important you ask? Well LUCY you need to do sum splaining.  Okay Rickey,  um I mean John.

This week is the 1/1

Next week will be a 1984 Donruss Joe Carter rookie.

The following week for now (I think I need to find a different card for this spot) for now again would be a 1975 Topps Marc Hill rookie.

HUH? It just so happens to also be the Gary Carter rookie, but like I said I should move this to a 4th giveaway, and find something worthy of the 3 spot. I've got a couple of weeks.

The Grinch did good, didn't he? Great idea. Now what is it that you need to do? Hmm....

As per my usual contest requirements: 1) You need to be a follower of this blog.

then

2) You need to comment whatever the contest each week requires. ie by say Wednesday night midnight EST, and whatever again the ask is.

3) For this run of giveaways, you need to participate each giveaway to be eligible for any of the prizes.

4) I will randomize the qualified entrants and announce the winner each week in my Friday post.

Now, back to what you need to do this week. Tell me who your favorite current Atlanta Braves player is and why. The CATCH..... Once someone has commented with a player you can not use that same player, you must move to your next choice.

I had to make it a little fun for me, especially for you fans of other teams, lol.

Now I probably should put some cards in this post to brighten it up.

I got these cards from Michael over at Dillard's Dugout. He sent me 16 Braves cards including the eight above. I needed 7 of the ones above (had the Limited Chipper already). Thanks Michael for the cards, much appreciated.

Have a great week everybody!

  1. I’ve always liked Smoltz. He responded to my first ever autograph request in the mail, and he was just a dominating pitcher, especially in the 1996 season where he won like 25 games.

    1. Current one is definitely Acuna. He just has tons of speed and power, and had he not been injured twice, he would’ve been the first 50-50 player. If he can avoid injuries, he has Barry Bonds type potential.

  2. I think I'll go with Austin Riley. He has been one of my favorites since his breakout 2021 campaign and has been on my fantasy team in every season from 2021-2024 (I had him in 1 of 2 this year). I guess I just like what he brings to the table. He's young, an outstanding fielder, and boy can he hit a ball. This doesn't even count his contributions in fantasy lol. Thanks for the contests!

  3. Enjoy the fun everyone! I choose Chris Sale as he is one of the most experienced of the roster. He is also a past player of the Northwoods League that I have followed the past few summers. It is a college league that gives players a chance to hone up on their skills for a few extra games after the college season is over. Have a great week all!

    1. I'm hoping that his youth aides in his full recovery on this 2nd TJ surgery. BTW, I still need to get you something for the last interactive play too.

  5. I'll go with Ozzie Albies. Fun player to watch.

  6. Was gonna go with John Brebbia because he was a fun one on the Giants but I guess he's a free agent now? So what the hey let's pick Chadwick Tromp because his name is fantastic and catchers are always fun.

  7. Jared kellenic for me. For some reason I kept pulling that guys cards so I have always kept an eye on his career.

Fun idea! Fun to see any 1/1 then try to build a rainbow from it!

  8. Former Red Sox Chris Sale was the obvious choice for me, but I wasn't quick enough to pick him. I'm going to say Nacho Alvarez Jr. because it's a fantastic nickname - who doesn't love nachos?

    1. But I just saw that he left for the Marlins, does that still count? If not then Adam Duvall, he can he be a sneaky power hitter sometimes.

    2. Duvall it is (BTW, free agent- been with the Braves and gone and came back a few times already).

  10. Re those rules, I think I have a headache now.

Picking a favorite Brave does not compute with me. I was going to go with Kelenic because we share a birthday but someone stole that.

  11. I have a soft spot for aging sluggers - I pick Marcell Ozuna

    Thanks for the giveaways!

  12. The A's have been the Braves minor league team the past few years... so there are a few to choose from. I guess I'll go with Matt Olson.

However if I accidentally missed it... and someone else grabbed him, I'll go with Ramon Laureano.
