The first of what became three trips to Ormond in November.

Yes, I made 3 trips to Ormond the last three weeks. All with one thing in mind. I had 1 set in particular I wanted....the whole set. My first trip a Friday was "release day" of the Topps Holiday. I say release day because the shop usually gets them several days before then. I knew they would be selling and ripping them. I watched them rip an entire case, and yet they didn't put any into the dime boxes. The next week I went on Friday I went back, nope, still two monster boxes sitting under the computer desk. I went back this past Saturday figuring now. Nope, I asked when he was going to sort them into sets, etc. He said the next day. Well, I have no plans on going back this week. I ordered 2 boxes from Fanatics (each for $10 bucks less than they were selling them) used my fan cash and that knocked out the shipping and tax expenses. That was this past Saturday, they have already shipped and should be in my hands this week. Huh! Anyways, I did not leave the shop empty handed on any of the 3 trips and those will finish up the year with posts with some annual post thrown in.

Tonight are some of the cards from that first trip which will be broken into two posts.

Starting off with new to me Braves. The mini's above were not in the dime boxes, they were part of a separate collection of stuff Kyle (shop owner) bought from Doc, also a show seller. I got to plug through what I wanted (30 boxes), I found one two row box, where half of the box was nothing but minis. I pulled more than just the Braves above so you'll have to come back to see what else.

These Stadium Club knocked out all but 2 Braves, and since then I have added 1 of those, and the other and a spare of the one I just got are sitting in my Sport Lots box. I need to get that shipped liked this week (I already have another 200 cards in my cart ready to have sent to the box. I also requested shipping on my ComC stash yesterday. The New Year will be highlighted by those shipments, maybe 3 in total.

Anyways, I have 13 scans of the rest of the cards (all mini's) brought back from Ormond on the first November trip and I'll post them Thursday. Meanwhile, in case you missed last nights post it is an interactive post that participation is required by midnight tomorrow to qualify for any of the weekly giveaways this month!

  2. It stinks they weren't selling what you didn't have three times in a row.
I should start using ComC for my card collecting.

    1. I'm sure that had I asked the owner, he would have let me build me a set. I didn't ask him, I asked the guy who sorts the cards.

  4. The one card that stood out to me was the Acuna Black Gold. What a card!

  5. The 2011 Topps Kimball Champions minis is a very attractive set. I feel like they're an under-appreciated set from the current era of card inserts.
