To kick start All-Star week some housekeeping is in order.
1) The winner of the Wacky Giveaway was the Night Owl. Greg, I have a significant stack of Dodgers from my recent PC updates and I've put these with them. I'll mail them soon.
2) Speaking of the PC update: I am on the V's. I dumped a couple, decided to box up a couple too. A Cowinkie dink: This past weekend I started sorting my Verlander and began entering them into TCDB on Sunday, before Verlander announced he would be retiring this year. The last few years have basically been a bust for him. I was really hoping he'd get to 300 wins but the 260's will have to do. That of course will not hinder him getting into the HOF, that's as good as done. Now onto the Maddux cards.
Here are this weeks freebies.
I'm rooting for the National league as always.

Congratulations, Night Owl!
ReplyDeleteWoooo! Go, NL!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Night Owl!
ReplyDeleteI was also hoping Verlander would get to 300 wins, but alas, there may never be another. Oh well.
With the recent rush of ‘openers’, I feel like there could be weird records with Wins if a manager is married to the idea.
ReplyDeleteA few years ago, Ryan Yarbrough of the Rays had like 17 wins and was mainly used as an opener. If a manager used the same guy as an opener 50-70 games in a year and only pitched them 1 inning and he somehow qualified for a Win, we could see someone win like 40 games just by pitching 1 inning in a ton of games as an opener. I don’t like the way analytics and Manfraud have changed the game.
