This past Saturday I made it to The Villages card show. My first purchase was from a "tub"/plastic bin of oddball items that were priced $5.00 each. I dug through the large tub and pulled out 4 items (2 I was thinking I already had). I bought them anyway for five bucks. All four were the 5 card tins from Metallic Impressions.
The two dupes were in fact dupes I had them, but they were PC guys, so now I can have one listed for PC's and one for set builds (not that it matters on TCDB). Those two were 1995 Willie Mays, and the 1993 All Time All-stars (which has Hank Aaron as one of the 5 guys). The other two tins were not dupes.
2001 Arnold Palmer set which wasn't listed in TCDB, so I had to jump through the hoops to get that listed and did. The other was Babe Ruth 5 tn.
I didn't scan the other two.
My 2nd purchase was three purchases actually from one seller.
I will break that down here in text (posts will be later):
1- a BRAND NEW 5 row box half filled with 2026 Topps and then the rest was mainly Heritage from 2023-2025 with a few non Heritage scattered throughout and certainly will be posting some of those. This box had a paper in front say dime each. after digging for 5-10 minutes along with conversation with the seller, I asked how much for the whole box and he quickly grabbed the lid which had a paper taped to the top stating whole box $20.00. I quickly said SOLD! Those are the kind of deals I like. I paid him for those and he said he a small box of 2026 Heritage too.
2- I said let me see them. It was a BRAND NEW 800 count box. I asked how much again, he thought for 30 seconds and said $10.00, I again said SOLD! My kind of deal, again.
3- This seller had two more 5 row boxes, one filled with dollar cards and the other were marked 2, 3 or 5 bucks each for the most part, and a partial row was higher priced cards. I grabbed about 2 dozen of the lesser priced ones and three of the higher priced ones. I got the seller to take $30.00 less than what they were marked and was thinking that was a great deal. Turns out it was just okay.
I will post separate posts from those 3 deals (lots of them). Mainly will be the Braves that I got which was the goal for me at this show. I may sort the 2026 Topps from that monster box to see how short I am on the set (I know that he pulled the key cards and had them in dollar/2/3 boxes). I already sorted the Heritage sets including the 2026 which had half of the 400 card set, not bad considering all of the SP's which did have 2 of those. The Heritage from the monster box even found about 20 or so cards I needed from those set builds.
The last purchase I mad was digging through another sellers dollar boxes. I made two stacks one which I wanted and the other stack was cards I like to get but to me were more like .50 cards, so I made the two stacks. In the end there were 30 cards in the I want stack and 35 in the other stack. The seller didn't really understand my "thinking" and his price for all was not anywhere close to where I wanted to be ($35-40). His price was $60.00, no way I said put the iffy stack back into the box, and asked if he'd take $20.00 for the 30 cards. He just watched me throw the other stack back in the box, so he took a minute (it was also at quitting time) and he said okay. Now...I did re-ask if he'd do $20.00 on the stack I put back in the box, and he said no so those are still in his boxes.
I've scanned up the Braves portion of day, so those will be coming soon.
