I'll throw this out there right now. This post is running a bit earlier than usual. The reason is simple. I am heading down to the Tampa card show Friday edition which doesn't start until 2 pm and runs to 8pm. I'm leaving at 3 and it will take between 1 1/2 to 2 hours to get there depending on I-75 traffic. I don't usually do Friday shows as most of the dealers do not come (they probably have normal week day jobs). I figure getting there around 5 and staying for a while (hopefully) some of those dealers will come in after work and if nothing else get set up for Saturday (which I will be going to Jax). I don't have high expectations for tonight, but going nonetheless to see if I may want to include this trip every month. If it were a different weekend say the 2nd or third then I would make the Saturday show, but the Jax show is by far the best I have seen in a decade so it will take priority for now.
Last night RJ pulled back to back wins.
So I guess this post isn't all that weird, but still an odd ball post!
Now on to Mr. Wally Joyner.
Have a great weekend folks, and again I apologize for such an early publishing.
I have the Joyner set (without the autographed card - nice). Apparently, there is a blue sticker set as well.
ReplyDeleteNo apology needed! I can actually comment on this one, usually I'm in the middle of work and have a hard time getting to it.
ReplyDeleteThose sets sure are weird with just "DAVE" and "WALLY" out front.
Have fun at the card show! Hope you find tons of Braves and oddballs.
ReplyDeleteI like the early publishing and the cards!! Matt-SCC
ReplyDeleteSorry but seeing that WALLY in the circle is making me laugh.
ReplyDeleteSuch a problem, too many shows to go to.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Winfield did the numbering himself, or someone else did that part. My guess is someone else numbered, but maybe not.
My favorites are Dave's best and the Yankee cards on the basepaths. He was such a dynamic player, one of my favorites when I started following baseball.
Hope it is worthwhile. Good luck in Jacksonville. Nice pulls with Thomas autographs on the star cards. Makes me wonder who else you have.
ReplyDeleteHave fun at the card show! Hope you find something amazing!
ReplyDeleteI've got a decent Winfield PC and don't recall ever seeing these. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteI like the Winfield set! Show's almost over by the time I'm writing my comment, hope it's gone well!
ReplyDelete2 in a row! Winfield one of the all-time greats to come from Minnesota. Played for the U of M also. Drafted by 4 pro teams? I never knew that.
ReplyDeleteWow, Dave Winfield #83?! That's cool. The red ink is fun too.
ReplyDeleteWeird stuff.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the shows are a success! I too find Dave and Wally on the front to be funny. Not sure why they didn't put the team logo on the back of Dave's cards, but seeing just Dave on the back is just as funny!
ReplyDeleteI like the Padres Winfield cards because they are a little different and I'm mostly familiar with his late career cards with the Yankees, Angels and Blue Jays.
ReplyDeleteThe Wally set is pretty nice as well, especially with some of the cards forming a puzzle on the reverse.
That Winfield set is really great. I'm almost afraid to see how much the signed cards sell for online.
ReplyDeleteI haven't peeked at that either. Time is the biggest reason.
DeleteHope you picked up some cool stuff in Tampa yesterday... and in Jacksonville today. Always fun to see the killer deals you find.
ReplyDeleteThe Tampa show was a good show, and Jax was as it always is.
