The winner last night was: The Lost Collector. It's been awhile for AJ to pull in a prize.
I've been home now for 10 weeks. I have worked my butt off most of the time. I slacked off for a couple of weeks twice now. But I am still making tremendous progress. You may remember that I had ordered 12 bookshelves/cases and that 8 of them were on backorder. Well, those 8 came in and I have put 6 of those together. Inside my garage is basically the same as it has been for a month now. I am still waiting on my shed to come which could still be 3 weeks or so.
This is some random views after the trees were down taken from my patio.
The street view with the trees gone and the area scraped, raked and bush hogged. The grass is already springing back up from the raking, and I already had to mow the rest of the yard (and my brother's). Nearly 90 today (87). Spring is in the air and I love it.
Changing colors (text) here as is appropriate for what I am about to say. A wrinkle has been thrown into the mix. Turns out some of my reasons for not building an addition to my house was correct. Besides costing 350% more than quoted just 3 years ago (which is a really big deal and the #1 reason for not adding on). The 2nd reason was I know my daughter, and figured she would take off by the time it was done. Long story short: she is supposed to move here stuff out of the house and into storage this weekend (although I am doubting). She has already been staying at her mom's place for the past two weeks. It wasn't that I enforced any rules that she couldn't live with. My rules are simple: leave my stuff alone. That's it. No, the problem was that she wanted me to follow here rules, yeah that wasn't going to happen EVER. My house, no rules apply to me period. I was patient with her, but figured all along that she would last about 3 months, eh she made 60 days. No need to get into any particulars, but looks like my original plans for my house are going to take effect. IE: cards inside the house.... all of them. Garage: will once again be headed to a man cave with the pool table, dart board, poker table, and a BAR! Breweriana and other beverage memorabilia all around as well as my vintage board games (highlighted with the baseball of course).
On a personal note, I will miss my daughter and my grandson (already do), but she says they will come by on Thursdays and Sundays after church. That will be nice but I remember how 24 yo think, so if that does happen it won't last for long most certainly if something else comes up, lol.
So that is one heck of an update!
Life is certainly crazy, and I have no kids. With all that suff, looks like blogging about cards will take plenty of years...decades?
ReplyDeleteGood Job! 👍
Boy, sounds like a lot going on! Glad you got to spend as much time with family as you did, and hope for some awesomeness with the man cave.
ReplyDeleteAmazing progress! We made it to 33 today. Just a few degrees less than you. OK, close to 50 less. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteNice setup, but cards in the house is definitely better. Where I live there is high humidity, snow in the winter, rain/wind in the summer. Would never house my cards in a garage or basement.
ReplyDeleteI love high humidity give me 100% I'm good. Cards only the high humidity here has an effect. That is why I put the diffuser in the garage when I got home. Even though my binders will now be inside the house the boxes of cards (dupes and non sports) that I had faired the winters and even the high humidity outside never affecting the cards. Didn't seem to get too humid in my garage, but I have barometers and all the gadgets I brought back from Uncle Fred's and will be checking to see the actual numbers inside the garage.
DeleteThanks for the glimpse into progress! That’s a lot of cards, sheesh!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for the contest win.
I got stuck on mowing in March. That's the strangest thing I've ever heard.
ReplyDeletedown here, some people have to mow weekly except for 2 months. I am more of a twice a month for 8 month kind of guy. A lot of Bahia for grass and all you need to make it grow is a bird to pee on it, lol. Or just spit.
DeleteAs a Canadian getting ready for another dump of snow, storing things like cards in the garage is a concept that seems so foreign to me!
ReplyDeleteWow it looks like you have plenty of space for a nice shed. Insulate the thing. Up here, an insulated garage is a great thing, even during the humid summer months. And good luck with your daughter, I hope things work out.
ReplyDeleteGreat progress on that yard! And count me in as one of those who prefer those cards in the house, but sorry the family situation isn't working out.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the freebies, and for the look inside the progress!
ReplyDeleteGlad you'll still get to see your daughter and grandson a couple of times each week. And the man cave in the garage sounds wonderful. Can't wait to see that take shape. I recently bought a dehumidifier for my place. It's not even that humid here, but I'm surprised at the amount of water that gets pulled from the air.
ReplyDeleteThat's really too bad about your daughter. It doesn't seem like you were asking too much, but I can certainly see why you wouldn't want to be following someone else's "rules" in your own house.
