Yesterday I received a Christmas card from a trading bud on OldCardTraders (OCT).
Apparently you can get this done on Shutterfly. As nice as this card is the real gifts were what else came in the envelope.
A sweet pair of 1950 Bowman. Boudreau and Ashburn. Now that's a present!
A blog about the cards I get awesome deals on, cards that I have available to trade, trades and our hobby in general. I collect Braves cards (all of them) and T206 White Borders.

A MAJOR MINOR post
The Atlanta Braves can be traced back to 1871 making it the LONGEST continuous MLB franchise. Many of you already knew that. I decided to put a twist on the Braves history by skipping the Boston, Milwaukee, and finally Atlanta stuff.
Many of you folks actually have or live in a city with ties to the Braves. The Braves minor league/farm system goes back to1932. Tonight I'll run the cities and towns through 1949.
1932 The Harrisburg Senators were a A team for the Boston Braves through 1935. Also in 1935 the McKeesport Braves were farm team.
In 1936 the Boston Bees (called that until 1941 when they returned to the Braves) had a AA team: St. Paul Saints, and farm teams Knoxville Smokies, Watertown Bucks, and Massena Grays.
In 1937: A- Scranton Miners, farms- Columbus Senators, Salisbury Bees, Zanesville Grays, Beaver Falls Bees, and the Ottawa Braves.
In 1938: A- Hartford Laurels, farms- Lexington Bees, Salisbury Bees, Erie Sailors, and Evansville Bees.
In 1939: A- Hartford Bees, farms- Owensboro Oilers, Bradford Bees, Utica Bees, Charleston Senators, Allentown Dukes, and Evansville Bees.
In 1940: A- Hartford Bees, farms- York Bees, Evansville Bees, Bradford Bees, and Owensboro Oilers.
1941 brings back the Boston Braves (no longer using the Bees): A- Hartford Bees, farms- Evansville, Bridgeport, and Bradford Bees.
1942: A- Hartford Bees, farms- Evansville and Bradford Bees, Welch Miners, and Greenville Burley Cubs.
1943: A- Hartford Bees and no active farm clubs.
1944: AA club Indianapolis Indians, and A club Hartford Laurels. no active farms.
1945: AA- Indianapolis Indians, A- Hartford Bees, farm- Mooresville Braves.
1946: AAA- Indianapolis Indians, A Hartford Chiefs, farms- Evansville Braves, Jackson Senators, Vancouver Capilanos, Pawtuckett Slaters, Raleigh Capitals, Leavenworth Braves, Miami Beach Flamingos, Richmond Roses, Bluefield Blue-Grays, and Owensboro Oilers.
1947: AAA Milwaukee Brewers, AA- Little Rock Travelers, A- Hartford Chiefs, farms- Evansville Braves, Pawtucket Slaters, Jackson Senators, Las Vegas Wranglers, Eau Claire Bears, Amarillo GoldSox, Leavenworth Braves, Ft. Lauderdale Braves, Bloomingdale Troopers, Richmond Roses, Owensboro Oilers, and Bluefield Blue-Grays.
1948: AAA- Milwaukee Brewers, A- Hartford Chiefs, farms- Pawtucket Slaters, Evansville Braves, Jackson Senators, Eau Claire Bears, Kingston Ponies, Leavenworth Braves, Mount Vernon Blues, High Point-Thomasville HiToms, Marysville Braves, Bluefield Blue-Grays, Owensboro Oilers, and Richmond Roses.
1949: AAA- Milwaukee Brewers, A- Hartford Chiefs and Denver Bears, farms- Pawtucket Slaters, Jackson Senators, Evansville Braves, Eau Claire Bears, Owensboro Oilers, Marysville Braves, High Point-Thomasville HiToms, and Bluefield Blue-Grays.
We'll run 1950 through 1965 on part two.
Have a great night!

The Closer
Well, the cards that closed the deal. I purposely went to the card shop on it's last day hoping to grab another one of those monster boxes but at a great price. David had a few of them, I rummaged through them and found one that had potential. I went to David and asked how much? He said there's more cards than the last box and some better sets too. He wanted the same thing. I explained that wasn't going to work. I dropped it to $200.00 he said no, but he would throw in some vintage he just got in.
Before we look at those vintage here are the keys cards from the box as it was.
Some autos and relics.
Braves autos and relics.
Now let's look at what David used to close the deal.
Okay a 1952 Topps in not too bad of shape.
A beat up 55' Banks.
A very nice Sutton.
Then there was these two. The 68 Rose game card was nice, but the 1975 Topps mini George Brett MINI rookie in excellent condition was good enough for me. I do think that the cards on this post are worth the $50.00 difference.
Have a Happy new Year!

More
More Player Collection cards from that last box. It is the last scan of PC cards.....sort of. After tonight, there is just one more scan.. The one that closed the deal.
A pair of Trouts is always good.
These non logo cards are exceptional.
Those last two scans are probably dupes, but oh well.
I would imagine these are dupes too.
But these aren't, at least not dupes from the previous monster box. I boo booed with the Jeter card mixed in.
A shiny Posey Rookie.
I'm didn't even think about putting them in correct order until after I scanned them. Then I said oh well.
Last of the bunch. Now tomorrows post closes the deal, literally.

Merry Christmas everyone!
With tomorrow being the big day, I'll go ahead and show off my "Christmas Cards" tonight and take tomorrow off from trying to post.
Now, I want to explain something first. These scans are only what's on my laptop right now. My Binder is loaded with athletes that share 12/25 with Jesus, and many other Christmas cards some nice and some naughty. Here is a sampling.
As you can see I'm missing a few cards from this set.
The Babe!
I see a tan line.
Have a Merry Christmas everyone.

Year End Closeout
How did I do with my goals set for my hobby in 2018. In a nutshell.. I did okay, not GREAT.
Here's the breakdown.
1-5) I give myself a pass on each. Not going to give a grade, just going with so so.
1) Get the PC updated: I accomplished this (2.5 years worth), but wiped me out time wise and started a burn out feeling.
2) Update the PC web pages: I accomplished that too making it easier to see what I have for each player, but at the same time realizing that until I am 100% caught up one will never know if I actually need a card or not.
3) Break up all of the sets that I decided NOT to build and place those keepers in the PC. Well, I got most of them broke apart, but it made the PC pile just get bigger. I did know that going in. i still have several more to do, but hose will have to wait until I get back home permanently and even then maybe a year or two after. My house/bedroom is a disaster with me living here and things all outof place and just stacked up everywhere. It is not good. I will have a lot of WORK with my collection once I get home, I mean a lot.
4) Put a dent in the Rookie Cup cards. I did okay so so if you will. But not satisfied. I'll fix that in 2019.
5) Get as many PC guys that didn't have any cards (zero cards) as I could. I did great here, but still there are a handful of old-timers I still need at least 1 card of (at least I think I do). I won't know for sure until I actually get the PC caught up.
All in all most of this years goals dealt with the PC, which ultimately caused a feeling of discontent. Not going to let that happen again. On a positive note 2018 got me to cross the 100 follower mark, which makes me happy.
Next week I'll reveal my 2019 GOALS and you'll the different focus.
Happy New Year's folks.

PC 2
The middle edition of the PC additions this week.
The Ted Williams Rookie Sensations card is not the shiny kind. Black numbered backs. For some reason I think those were parallels, but I can't remember this late in the game.
The 2 Panini cards pull off the no logo well.
That 1999 McGwire is not a 1999, another Bergers best. I was so stoked to see the card as first, because I want all of those HR cards, Sos'a too. Then of course I peeked at the back.
Good bit of Opening Day inserts this go around.
Can't go wrong with silver borders and white framed cards.
Almost knocked out the 2015 Diamond Kings needs. I still need #3 for the base, and the ATDK need 10, 17, and 27.
Shiny Tony's.
The Preferred more than likely are dupes. We'll find out next year when I update the PC binders again.
More purple.
Opening day purple foil.
and 4 blue foil that look really good.
Wrap up the rest tomorrow night.
Be good.
