The winner last night was: Sharp with back to back wins.
Now Let's get to some odd balls. Specifically, the Renato Galasso designed by Topps Pete Rose set.
Still hard for me to see Pete Rose as an Expo. The last 30 cards have a puzzle on the back. It is a huge puzzle. Six cards one way and five the other. No way to scan it, and I'm not using my phone for that. Basically it is his Topps cards from each year through the release with an action shot at the bottom.
Remember the Day Fosse play like it's it happened yesterday, and the slide into 3rd Base in the '76 WS in Fenway Park like it was last week.
ReplyDeleteAppreciate the love, thanks!
I'm not a super big Pete Rose fan but his Expos cards were what kind of encouraged me to start collecting players in unfamiliar uniforms.
ReplyDeletePete Rose's haircut was insane.
ReplyDeleteAt some point I'd like to get that set. Lots of interesting photos in it.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing Pete as an Expo, and it's hard to figure out why. I really enjoy the Topps and Fleer update cards with him as an Expo.
ReplyDeleteI cards with no writing on the front, just a full photo. Refreshing and no ugly design to complain about
ReplyDeleteI like the candid off-beat shots some of the cards use.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I was aware the set is that large. I have one of the cards, that's enough.
ReplyDeleteSome very interesting non-baseball shots. Even Mr. Ed got in on the action. What did Mr. Ed say to him?
ReplyDeleteWilburrrrrrrr
DeleteNice set. I take it the set was made before there Expo Pete took the field. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis '85 box set is really cool and still affordable.
ReplyDeleteI purchased this set years ago from a fellow blogger (Project '62)... but mainly because it included a Pete Rose autograph. I should dig this set out and look at it a little closer in order to read some of the card backs.
