Masonic Monday: Barry Goldwater has a bobble head doll.

Politics, this early into Fall and on an odd year.... sure why not. I mean the original publication was also in September.

I will suspending or more than likely ending the Masonic Monday theme. I still have plenty of booklets that I haven't posted, but I am ready to move on. Next Monday will be my first Monday Mini Collection (in a long long time). I figured that it is the first Monday in October (Cancer awareness month), and I certainly have enough pink cards to post a slew everyday all month long so why not at least load up Mondays for the month. Maybe throw in some on other days too, we'll see.

I see a bobble head. We don't call them "dolls" anymore do we guys?

Reminder about tomorrow night's TRADE night. BLUE JAYS.

I might throw out another one of those cartoon posts from that book midweek.

TRIPLE Quads: 444 Franken Friday 444

Another week has flown by. My brother and I hit up the Trivia night at a local restaurant. We went 2 weeks ago (trivia is my brother's thing) he has never missed a jeopardy episode! He and our brother-in-law are always challenging each other. My brother wanted to buy my dinner for cutting his grass as is normal. We went and he and I played as solo contestants whereas the rest were playing as teams. Long story short I won (by 50+ points), got $25.00 too. I gave it to him. We went back this week and played together as a team..... we won (by 60+ points)..... Another $25.00.

Now that we are talking numbers let's get the triple 4's data out of the way.

I have 120 cards in the binder (I know that I have more sitting in the trade boxes, but I am just trying to get through this Franken-Set. Beckett says there 1,319 baseball cards with that number. No player had more than two appearances and there was 8 of those. One team made double digits this week with 10 the Blue Jays followed by the Yankees with 8, and Phillies with 7. Not bad for just 120 cards. The Jays will get a repeat here as they are the next TRADE DAY team.

Here is a prime example of why no one really needs to send me any of the cards missing. You know darn well I have a base 1993 Topps sitting in my trade boxes. Now on the other hand, if you want to send vintage cards that are missing from this Franken-Set well I am happy to accept those.

Lots of gaps here at the end and I figure there are a lot of either rookies or stars bearing some of those numbers and once i clear the PC dupes I'll be able to add those in. Of course this themed post run will long be over before that happens.

Have a great weekend.

Let's do a grab bag!

I scanned up the first bag that I opened and here it is. For those that may not know what these are they are grab bags from the Fall Villages card show that I attended at the beginning of this month (in lieu of going to Jax).

A reminder that I bough 19 (thought it was just 17 bags) and ultimately paid .67 per bag.

Technically this was not the real first one that I opened initially. It is the first one I grabbed when I decided to scan a bag. As you can see all refractors, inserts, parallels, and some higher priced sets to boot.

This is funny. See that Choo camo card? No doubt that I put it in a stack for Mark already, and just last night as I was going through trade boxes literally moments like 5 minutes before I typed up this post pulled one out of there and put into his stack.

Okay Mookie isn't a parallel, refractor, or insert but it is Mookie!

50 cards for .67 all but 1 insert, parallel, or refractor which is technically a parallel.

Definitely good grab bags. Just think you get 18 more as time goes by. Now not all of them are all inserts etc.... In fact the actual first 3 I opened were all 2023 Heritage that had only recently been released. Why I am telling you this you'll see eventually.

Do you remember?

I know that I just planted a song in your head and with any luck it will stay there for a day or two.

So, Do you remember that vintage monster box of cards I bought up in Jacksonville? I do and I still have the last of the surprises that shouldn't have been in a quarter box. Okay, maybe some of them should, but still.

These Washington variations most certainly shouldn't have been in there, but I love it. I only need one more to complete them in my set build.

And to think that I only paid 4 cents a piece. I'll gladly do that all day long every day!

TRADE DAY: HOUSTON ASTROS: AUTOS AND RELICS OR BOTH!

Lately I have been going through my trade boxes. In the past I have referred to these as my dupe boxes, and that is an inaccurate description. You see what is in those boxes could be dupes, but they can also be cards from sets that I wasn't building (at least at the time I put them in the box). There are also guys that I collect now that I didn't when I put them into the boxes. The boxes have odd ball sets, inserts, high end sets, and just about anything else you can come up with. I knew that one day I would need to go through as I haven't flipped through them since June 2018 is the date on the majority. I assure you it had to have been a very quick flip through too. I know this because at that time if I was here in Ocala it was only for the a few hours. That or they were up in GA with me when they were boxed and I brought them back home at some point on one of those day trips. Either way I am going through them now for my second week. I have found a lot of stuff! Good stuff. One day I'll have to actually sort them all and get those boxes really organized because they are all over the place. Right now, I am just going through the cards, pulling stuff out that I need to check if I need elsewhere. I am also separating the higher end cards, parallels, and inserts into what I call money boxes (ie: if they were for sale they would be quarter boxes). The rest would be dime boxes. I'm sure you get the drift. I should probably do dollar boxes too, but I figure if thing were ever to go that way, I could easily pick out the boxes that those type cards would be in. I put a dollar sign on the boxes. Why do I mention all of this? Consider it an update on the garage if you like, but really one night I couldn't sleep so I figured I would go through the boxes to try and find those hundreds of the 2021 Topps Chrome Platinum cards. I have found a couple hundred, but not the HUGE pile I am looking for. I did FIND  a box marked as non sport and "good football". I'd say that was a good description. The first three cards in the box that I grabbed MINT Jerry Rice rookies, followed by the other key rookies from 86'. Yeah, the box is loaded with good stuff and I plan to put that box in the vehicle for my next trip over to Ormond. Spend no cash and TRADE AWAY! See I tied my rambling to tonight's theme. BTW: this is being written at 4 am as it is another one of those nights with zippo for sleep.

Alright that concludes the Astros, hopefully Adam catches this post.

The Toronto Blue Jays are next week's team followed by the Braves, yes I said Braves.
