Card Show stuff: The Braves

I have to admit the Kellogg's posted yesterday were the highlight of the card show haul this month. However, I did come home with a lot of other good stuff too.

These 2 (above) came from the house to put in my PC.

This is an oversize card.

Nice tidbits on the back.

Can't go wrong with a Spahn.

A pair of Aarons'. One from 1980 and the other 1977.  I'm pretty sure they qualify as "night cards" too, but they are over sized and not too much to see in the background.

The pic was a historical moment.

The Mallex Smith is from one of those Chrome Holiday mega boxes. The Eddie Mathews comes from the 1977 (TCMA) Galasso Glossy Greats sets the NO posted about yesterday. It was funny just before reading Greg's post, I was on Beckett checking out the HOF star lot of this entire set and told myself I want this set. Can't go wrong with HOFer George Sisler as a BRAVE! And serial numbered to boot.

Some 2017 needs, love the SP Chipper and Maddux cards. Now I still need the AAron, Smoltz, Dansby dirty jersey, and the Newcomb high five.

Shiny refractor needs.

I didn't even know I needed that 61 Topps. Now I only need 4 more of them.

These 2 75's are minis for my team set. They came from fellow trader Michael on OCT.

A lot of odd ball misc. Braves I needed.

A bunch of relics.

That Spahn is super cool in hand. It's a wowzer card.

Finishing the newest Braves to my collection some Bowman.

Back in Valdosta, via Jacksonville

I last posted from my home in Ocala on Wednesday January 3rd. I mentioned the snow that hit South GA, and North FL. Here are a few pics of that for my travel home down I-75.

When I went outside to load my laptop in the car, I seen this. I said not good, it was freezing rain.
It had only started raining 30 minutes earlier.

This was 30 minutes later.

Obviously the the rain quickly turned to snow.

That is where I had parked my car over night I moved when the snow started.

This was heading to the interstate.

I would up having to replace my wiper blades when I got to Florida, lol.

Anyways, back to baseball cards. I posted Wednesday, and had a bunch of family stuff to get done. Then I headed back to Valdosta via Jacksonville (2.5 hrs out of the way), but I had to go to my regular card show (there are shows somewhere in Jax every week).

I stayed the entire show 8:30-2:30. I figured after not sleeping a wink Friday night, I got up showered and headed up.

I wasn't going to post tonight (I'm still wiped out from this last trip). But after JUST finishing reading NO post, I had to get off my lazy butt and start posting the card show haul.  I picked up the partial team sets for those clubs above. They were in a quarter box, and I made the guy throw these and whole bunch more oddballs in a deal for no charge.  But the other oddballs will have to wait.

No 1970 Kellogg's, but I won't complain about any from this haul.

Most are pristine, and I definitely can relate to Greg's post. Hell, I'm feeling a little pepped up right now just posting these guys.

Like I said, I'm still pretty wiped and I'll be driving back to Ocala in a couple of days too. I've been busting my keester since I got back too.

I didn't have my want list with me, so I was taking a chance on all of this higher valued Kellogg's. I got lucky with only 3 duplicates. I really don't mind because they will go to the PC's.

Yes! Both Babe Ruth cards. This is a 15 card set and I just grabbed 11 of them with 1 swoop.

Just need 3 more now.

That's it for tonight. But, I figured if I want to get this show done and posted I had better start, Greg's post was just the push I needed, and damn if I don't feel better already. And NO I am not crying teh Bulldogs didn't win, yes I DID want them too and even went to bed thinking they had it wrapped up only to wake up to WTF. When it is all said and done, I switched from being a Dawg to a Gator along time ago.

Have a good night all.

Wacky Wednessday

I drove to my Ocala, Florida home today. Go figure, I leave 24 degree weather to come home to 25 degrees, LOL. At least it is a warm up, right? And YES id snowed big time all the way into Florida, at least an hour in. Dang ice didn't melt til I got home.  I am thankful that I don't have to deal with the horrible weather that most of you folks do. Here are some interesting cards (at least to me) from 1993 Stadium Club.

zoom.

the only thing missing is the toilet.

oh, there the toilet is (the bucket).

sharply dressed for the outfield.

Just try to focus on that bat..  come on..... do it.....

Woof woof.

I'll be here at home for a couple of days.

GOALS

As posted the other day I will be keeping my goals simple for 2018. I gave myself an overall passing grade for 2017. I have a lot to do with my collection this year, so with that said here are my 2018 GOALS.

1) Finish the PC update that I started in recent weeks. It has only been 2 1/2 years since I updated them. This is doable as I am making headway and working on it almost daily. Keep in mind I have/had nearly 300,000 stars to sort, check, list (in 2 places), and place in their binders. I won't get them into their binders this year though, maybe a goal for next year.

2) Upgrade the web page/s for the PC collection. Make it easier for others to find a certain player and the cards I own of that player. Doable as I got caught up in the update process I found myself doing this I went along. Nearly half done already, well close to half way on this part. I will also be changing my excel sheet system to accommodate 1 file per Letter which helps me out.

3) Tear apart all of those sets and partial sets that I no longer wish to collect. I will be sticking to the flagship Topps, Upper Deck, Fleer, Score, Donruss for Set Builds. I do plan on keeping the Stadium Club, Hostess, Kellogg's, Topps All Star Sets (the 2 Glossy sets and the Commemorative set 22, 40, and 60 card sets). I will keep a few more too. But this break up is going to put me behind again on the PC's as I pull them out. But I won't start this one until I've finished GOAL #1.

4) Make a dent in the remaining Trophy Cup NEEDS list. Doable as this is the first goal that involves money, lol. The previous 3 rely on TIME.

5) Try to get at least 1 card for each of the HOF'ers that I don't already have a card for. Doable or probable as this is basically tracking some cards and getting them. COMC and Card Barrel will be a big help. I'd really like to have all 400+ PC guys showing I have cards. Wipe out those ZEROS!  So if you see zeros, send them to me.

That is it, 5 simple goals that should be doable. It only takes time and money, and who among us doesn't have plenty of both, LOL!

Have a happy and blessed New Year everyone!

Closing out the Cee's

In an effort to speed things along, here is the balance of the PC guys with the last name beginning with C. I have added several cards to the main list that were misplaced in the sorted cards, oops.

Shadow Shots

Good morning on this last day of 2017! May your 2018 be wonderful!

One of those cartoon dogs.

Spiderman!

A Hungarian bear, lol. Maybe a Sasquatch on all fours.

Have a blessed New years, and be safe!
