Sunday Showdown

These cards were pulled from those two tubs of fun from two weekends ago. Lets put these to a test. Which is the best card? Why?

Pitcher sliding into the base (looks like third).

A balancing act. I've tried that, and can't do it. Then again the ball does appear to have a flattened bottom.

Awesome Jr. I can see him now saying" Look dad....no hands"

I think this one will make it into my "Super Man" binder.

Hey, why not it's cute as far as baseball cards are concerned.

Not just a Gwyn at the wall, but over the wall.

Throwback.

Stretching.

Jr & Sr. and Bugs!

I really dig that pissed off expression! Even pitchers don't get that much on unless its the Mad Hungarian.

A couple of bat barrels.

A throwback I've not seen before.

What a grab. This is one of those we seen Sunday or Monday on another blog.

This card is cool because he is replicating what he did when the card photo was taken, and he got it down to the pen so to speak. What I don't get is the card he is holding shows him holding the card too. How'd they do that?

A couple of tee shots.

Who is that on the wrist wrap?  Hopefully can get to my house today to scan some other stuff, but still have a few more days of the tubs.

Some on Saturday

With this season nearing an end, I thought I would show off my Braves Topps Opening Day cards. I do not have the 1995 Topps Opening Day #6 Fred McGriff card, but I will one day.

Batting first is 1998.

Triple! No he didn't hit a triple here, but hit three binders (meaning I need three of these) 1) for the main Braves Topps Non Flagship Binder. 2) mini collection- Pitchers with bats/on the base paths. 3) Hall of Famer!

Patty cake, patty cake, baker's man, lol.

TROPHY! Not a bad nine card lot. 2 already HOFers, 1 more shoe in (next year- fingers crossed), and maybe, just maybe two more future famers. If there are more than these 9 cards, then I need them.

1999

Now that is an Opening Day!

I still need the following from the 1999 set: 3, 81, 104, 107, 116, 118, 123, 124, and of course the #nno Hank Aaron autograph.

2000:

Hofer.

Next year Hofer.

A few more years away Hofer.

Duh.

Hofer.

. future Hofer,possibly.  I need four more for this set: 10, 110, 120, 145

2001:

Nice Trophy!

You can never go wrong with the Hammer!

Need two cards #s 2, 48, I also need sticker #3 and autograph Chipper.

2002: I only have one 02'. Could use some major help here for sure.

I need the following 02's: 19, 28, 46, 53, 114, 126, 137, 147.

2003: I like the new OD logo and the diamond head shots otherwise much the same as the initial years.

I need these 03s': 4, 38, 70, 84, 95, 146, Furcal auto, stickers: 34, 35, 41, 62, 63

I only have one 2004: Need the rest: 20, 38, 39, 48, 60, 93, 105, 141. I really like this OD logo.

2005:

So far the best Opening Day set (design wise). I need the following: 37, 72 and the chrome refractor Chipper #10.

I do not have any 2006. I need: 25, 59, 63, 108, 144, 157, all the red foils, printing plates, Estrada autograph, team vs team #DB, and Sports Illustrated for Kids 2, 15, 25.

2007: Another White border version of the base set, but I like it just as much as the 2005 set. And definitely better than the base black set.

The Mascot. (Chief Nokahoma was my all time favorite!) I also miss the teepee.

Look, Yankees in the opposing dugout. LOL. That grin is almost as if it was for the camera.

Still need: 34, 106, all golds,  plates, diamond stars 20, and puzzle 19 (have 20). Have team vs. team od2.

2008: Normally, I don't like red border (all though with a lot of parallel sets these days, I will take any that I don't have, LOL.)  I DO like this set as well as the base set (White).

I see a nice Flag shot in the background.

I still need 53, 145, 177, 188, 202, all golds, plates, Lerew autograph, tattoo AB, Flapper cards CJ.

2010: back to plain set.

 Turning two.

I need the following 2010s': 11, 19, 40, 129, 135, 210, all blues, plates, mascot 2, topps town stars 3,
Bazooka Joe 8.

2011:

Eh, so so. Still need: 21, 70, 158, 159, all blues, plates, mascot 2, spot error 2, topps town codes 19, stadium lights 9. Have super star celebrations 1

2012: Complete Braves team set other than the BLUE parallels, plates,  squad 14. I have both  superstar celebrations 3, 20. Have Mascot 8 too.

No matter how many times I look at this card, it still looks so "stoic" just an awesome piece of cardboard.

 Another Trophy!

A better version of Homer.

2013:

Need 93 a & b, 115b,  all blues, all purples, plates, highlights 4, mascot 13, super star celebrations 14. I have play hard 6

2014:

Still need 67, 70, the rest of the blues, all purples, plates, Freeman relic, Stars 22, fired up 27, mascot 16, breaking out 1, super star celebrations 4, 6, 18, I have SC20.

Overall Opening Day is one of the sets I like the best. Simple and few parallels. I do wish that Topps would use a different design than the base as well as different photos.
