A couple of Listia wins, another Package of goodness from Mark Hoyle, and a surprise from Jeff (One Man's Junk).

Some more vintage from Mark.

Some mini greatness from Mark. That is just my second Kellogg's card. The other is also Phil but from 1981, this is from 1980, and look my 5th Braves 1975 mini. Mark was fortunate last Monday to attend a card show where he was able to find a good deal on the 75 minis as Nite Owl found out. Although I am very happy for Mark, I am sad for me, we haven't had a "card show" here or near here in 20+ years. You have to drive an hour or two, emphasis on the two to find a decent card show and they are not that often. There are monthly ones about 90 minutes away but they suck, way overpriced! (you know the ones). I truly miss a good card show, it's been near 2 decades since I was able to attend one.

Some more vintage goodies from Mark. That Causey made a Binder 1 upgrade (I will be moving the replaced card to binder 3). Four of the others made Binder 3 also. Only Mack Jones missed my binders. But wait Mark didn't stop there either.

Yes sir! 3 Hank Aaron Specials (2,4,5), which is now complete (1-6), thanks Mark!

Shadow Shots

Good morning all. We've made it to the C's. Leading off is Roger Clemens.

Kinds of looks like an Antelope with a long snout.

A finger gun.

A wavy anchor.

Great shadow of the body, but what happened to the head. Kind of looks like the head of the Thumbs from the movie Spy Kids.

The Gieko Geiko.

This one looks so familiar, maybe I've shown it before???? Elephant head crossed with something.

This one could have been a great shadow if the shot was just a little more centered.

Just a weird looking shadow.

Nice dark shadow of Cruz, but it certainly doesn't look a base runner.

No clue what this looks like, just a globby mess, yes I made that word up.

Capuano has a cross between a gator head and an Oscar.

This one reminds of a slingshot I had as a kid. You remember them, they were bone white.

A flying goose.

This Cone is either a stingray, man of war, or perhaps one the tripods from the movie War of the Worlds (minus one leg).

This Cone looks like a tuning fork in motion (vibrating).

Awe, look its cookie man (with his leg bent).

Finishing up with another Who knows what that shadow looks like, certainly NOT a baseball player.

Trade Post

No mail Monday made for a short post today. I received a package from Chris (Nachos Grande), including a nice blog bumper sticker, and a PWE from Ethan (Playing with my cards).

Ethan and I send regular PWEs back and forth with no strings attached. They are not random cards, but cards of what we collect. We usually send 18 per PWE, nice easy and very safe way to get 18 cards there for .86. You guys really should try it, it saves a bunch on shipping and time. Pull 18 mail them. If you have to just throw 2 forever stamps on them, saves a trip to the PO too. Anyways, Ethan has been alphabetically going through his cards and pulling me some Braves. I think this last batch finishes on the Bs.

These 9 hit their main binders and another two cards hit the frankenset.

Chris sent along some return Braves for some REDs cards and some Pacific cards. He is considering collecting all of the Pacific brands so help him out, there are some really cool cards too.

That Spooneybarger made Binder 1.

I don't have but a few other UD Retros, so these were nice additions to the Upper Deck binder.

That's just the 2nd framed piece that I have from that set (I also have Cabrera).

When I scanned these last night I didn't realize that I already had the Andruw in the bottom right. Still more for the UD binder though.

The red borders on the cards are just awesome on the Braves cards!

Chris used the above Arod (1 of 2 sent) to cover the end of the 2 stacks of cards he sent.  I scanned it because it looks like 1 photo, but Mariners and Piazza in 1998, had to be Inter-league or one heck of a photo shop. Either way, it makes the scan.

Some serial numbered goodness in the form of a parallel Maddux. Very cool.

Well that wraps up the two packages. I got 2 singles in todays mail, but will save them for Sunday.

Wacky Wednesday

Nothing really wacky tonight, but some cards of interest.

Ok, maybe a little wacky, here we have a wink and a thumbs up. Not your everyday piece of cardboard.

The Bowie is more of a "ugh" than anything. Although I collect prospect cards if they are in an Atlanta uniform like the one I have of Bowie from 1999 Topps. It drives me nuts!

The Van Slyke made the scan tonight because I didn't remember him every playing for the Cards. I always think of him as a Buc. Some good dirt though and a tore uniform, lol.

Talk about showing your feelings. Pete just doesn't look ready for this at bat.

What a squat, stayed balanced, bat held up high. Its the look on his face that makes you wonder what was going through his mind. "UHH , I think he threw at me" "did he throw at me"

This card I just like. Bat, ball, batter/runner, and catcher all good.

 YEAH BABY!!

Look closely at the wood below Joe's wristband. You'd think with all the money in baseball they would fix that. Or least Upper Deck could have photo-shopped it. I'm just saying.

One might think that Richie wanted to break his bat there, and he may just have, but that isn't why this card made the scan. Here, look at the back.

Really? It's the hair. You look weird dude. Platinum locks with black sideburns, yeah doesn't work for me.

Last week I posted this 1992 Leaf card on Wednesday. However.....

Bowman beat leaf to the punch with this 1991 (in factory set). Same basic photo (definitely same game, same dirt, etc), just better and the card back has a 10x better commentary.

A week or two ago I posted about Vinny always seemed to have his mouth open when fielding (not 100%, but close). 1998 and 1993, yep wide open.

Yep, wide open.

 Now here I can see maybe he calling for the ball, maybe.

And from the vertical shot, yep wide open. sorry Vinny, I'm not picking, I really wished the Braves would've kept him around the first time.

The two cards above are just really great shots. The ball is just so clear, the stitches and all.

Now for a more somber note. The following cards are tribute cards I guess. Throughout baseball history a tribute usually follows after the passing a former great. I have a ton of cards, and often wondered just what or who the was for, but never researched any at all. There are really a lot of them!. Great link here in case you want to check them all out. Brewers 1988: Harvey Keunn manager and coach.

Pirates 1988: honoring Mayor Richard S. Caligiuri.

Just put the Captains patch in here to mess with you. I am glad most teams don't do this.

Finishing up with the Yankees and for good cause too. The #5 yeah yeah Joe D. we know 1999.

And the #1 for Billy Martin in 1990 which was the first time a former legend had the memoriam placed on the jersey, previously armbands, crepes, or it was on the cap.
