LISTEN UP. What I was supposed to do this weekend and didn't.

CONTEST PIMP FOR THE DIAMON KING

CONTEST LINK

Many of us (card collector's) know that the reality of ever attending a NATIONAL is close to nil. In a way I am happy about that, but yet I do have it in my MENTAL bucket list. With that said FANATICS was going to do a mini National in Orlando from the 1st-3rd. Supposedly, it would be about a third of the National in size, and that is good for me. I booked my advanced tickets secured a 4 star hotel across the street (at a bargain price too). Then after the two Hurricanes passed through Florida, they decided to cancel (even though there would not have been an issue. I was so looking forward to that get-a-away. Three full days of nothing but cards all day long. I was let down. I did get my refund from Fanatics, the hotel didn't need to refund as they don't charge until you actually check in. Now, to make lemonade out of the situation I helped my brother at his new house and to make up for the cards I was hoping to obtain in Orlando I went over to Ormond and came back with TWELVE THOUSAND cards. 99.9% baseball cards of course. None of which were high dollar cards. 3 monster boxes from the diem section, so those cost me a penny a piece, and 1 box from the dollar boxes that cost me .22 a piece.

I plan on spreading those gets out of the whole month and even then may not last the entire month. I may have to go to a show in Clearwater or St. Pete. Will see. Not going to overwhelm any of the posts with a bunch of scans. tonight I am highlighting the new to me Braves cards.

I was able to knock out all of the base Update Braves. the bulk of the dime cards (penny cards) were actually 2024 Topps Update, maybe 7,500. I've got to quit doing that. Probably should stick to just a thousand or so going forward. Now, I also was able to get close to the complete Update set for my binders. Of course Topps loaded the key cards up with 2 cards of those guys like Skenes, Chourio, Merrill, and Holliday. I came up 22 card shy of the set, and already have 4 of those heading to my SLOTS box.

I still need the following cards: 50, 86, 97, 100, 149, 151, 155, 169, 175, 181, 210, 223, 240, 281, 288, 325, 341, and 350 Elly.

Got 6 of the hotbox silver portraits. I figure the next time I hit up Ormond (maybe tomorrow) I should find A&G in the dime boxes.

I also got nearly all of the Braves inserts from Update.

My first Pristine Braves. Maybe I'll find some of them in the dime boxes too, but I doubt it.

There was one more Brave not highlighted here (odd man out) and that was 2024 Panini Crusade Owen Murphy. Believe it or not, it isn't a bad looking set. You'll get to see them later in the month as I got a nice stack of those.

That wraps up the new to me Braves. So, let's address the elephant in the room....

Thank you everyone for being interactive on Friday's post. I love it! Just so you guys know. I do already have a list of the Holliday binder guys that I need minus the newer players from the last 3 years (got to find that folder with those lists....lol). Same goes for the birthday binder guys. I'll get to updating those binders (and the Miller binder) after I complete the massive current task of updating my PC guys. I did NOT finish the B's. Bonds took all of last week. Leaving me with two more big ones, and 1 mediocre size update, and then a dozen very small updates to finish the B's. At this point, probably won't get to the C's until December. I also need to go back and add a couple hundred more to the A's and B's that were either missed the first time around or cards that I just got.

I'll try to get all that qualified some cards out this week.

Have a great week.... VOTE.....If you haven't already.

  2. 12,000 cards is a big haul. Great cards too. I find it interesting that they have Smith-Shawver in the Stars of MLB set. I do believe that he'll break out once he gets a full-ish season in, but it seems a little early since he has less than 30 big-league innings. I guess they make them for people they expect to be stars later too. But then again, where is Future Stars?

  3. If I am ever in a position to do it, I’ll be your full-time card sorter/organizer person as long as you pay me enough to live on with a bit left over to buy cards with. I could organize 12,000 cards in a few days I think, but the job and life just gets in the way and makes it take longer.

    1. LOL. Those 12K have already been taken care of it. Sorted numerically, bindered and/or boxed and updated in my excel sheets, web pages, and TCDB too.

  4. Nicely done! I like the parallels especially. looking forward to seeing the Crusade cards. I voted about two weeks ago. It works better for my house voting by mail due to various health issues. Way to make lemonade!

  5. Voting right after work today. That Fanatics mini National sounds cool. As much as I'd love to go to a National... the crowds make me a little anxious... and the cost pretty much prevents the dream from becoming a reality. However if there was a mini one closer to my home, I'd consider going. Sorry to hear they cancelled it. Glad you were able to still pick up some great deals at the Ormond show.

  8. Given how you tend to buy, I think The National might be a disappointment for you, as I don't think sellers are setting up there looking to sell bulk for pennies on the dollar. I think the tables are too expensive to sell like that.
