1956 Topps trip cards

Next up we have the 56' Topps.

Just a bit of paper loss on the back. I can live with it.

This back is much better than the front.

Love the hit batsman cartoon.

Wally has been showing up a lot lately.

A bit too much paper loss with this one.

This one looks a lil burnt.

A bat barrel cartoon.

Just a reminder, these are the cards that I needed for my set build, there were lots of vintage that I didn't need and will be shown at the end just before this contest is over, well the PC guys anyways.

  1. It's seems like I've seen quite a few vintage cards over the years that have seemingly suffered some sort of fire damage. One has to wonder how all these cards got burned?

    1. I went through a paper-burning phase as a kid. I specifically remember burning the edges of paper to make it look older. Maybe some of those kids in '56 did the same?

  2. I was thinking the same thing--Wally Moon is all over in this lot.

  3. One thing I've noticed with the '56 cartoons, it seems like the cartoonist lost his enthusiasm in some of the higher-numbered cards. They're not quite as clever as the others.

  4. Looks like you're slowly becoming a Wally Moon super collector. Nice lot of 56's.

  5. Is this much paper loss typical for a lot of 1950s cards? I've seen so few in person I wouldn't know how to judge.

    1. No, I see a lot more that are in excellent condition than I do with the paper loss. I believe they used to glue them tape them into scrap books etc.. Which is great for me because I can afford those, lol.
