Shall we compare?

You might find yourself asking....compare what? Me against you? Nope, that's not it. What could I possibly be thinking about comparing? Is this guy messing with our minds....again? That one might be a little true. Yet, what do I want to compare? I could tell you maybe pitting Acuna (jr) against Ohtani, and many if not all of you would bust out laughing. I'll admit it there isn't a fair fight in that dog, but this one too is a little true. With that said Ronnie has a chance to beat Shohei (now I am thinking about an old restaurant franchise that isn't in these here parts anymore.....Shoney's, man they had an awesome all you can eat breakfast buffet.  Okay, even though that is true it has nothing to do with this post. So how am I planning on comparing Acuna and Ohtani?

Easy enough, but first let's show some pictures to assist you in your guessing abilities.

This caught my eye in the card aisle at a visit to Walmart last week (or maybe it was Monday...lol). (The ONE mystery item especially caught my attention). I know many of you folks like those repack boxes from days gone by. I bought a few and even pulled a few hits, but it didn't take long for me to realize that not really a bargain so I quit buying them.

MJ Holdings (the card hoarders-lol). Got a little fancy this time and used tins.

They had an Altuve as well, but Acuna and Ohtani seemed like a chance I would take. the tins are nice, but they weren't priced. I was hoping for $15.99 at the register, but no those days are long gone. I was prepared to tell the cashier to not ring them up when I had her check the price before ringing them up. In reality I was expecting $19.99, but apparently those days are long gone too. $24.98 each. I was like I don't know, the tins are nice and I really want to know what that mystery item is. Is it an oddball trinket of the player depicted? That would be cool, so I bought them.

Yeah.....nope. A forth pack is not what I was expecting for a mystery item. The packs above came from the Acuna tin.

These are the packs from the Ohtani tin.  Disappointment again. Well at least I can pit the two against each other and squeeze two blog posts out it and have a little fun.

You see.....you are going to have to check tomorrows' post out for the comparison, but at least you didn't have to wait for me to mess with your mind.

Have a great night folks!

  1. I bought one of those tins last year, and it had 4 packs plus an individual bonus card (turned out to be an online exclusive Rickey Henderson, which was pretty cool). Seems like even these have decreased in quality, which say a lot!

  2. The Ohtani tin is sweet for sure (okay and the Acuna) but waaaay out of my price range for the subject.

  3. As someone who doesn’t bust many packs of stuff that isn’t at Wal-Mart or Target, those packs would be a win for me, especially the 1st Edition ones.

  4. Geez the last time I was buying repack boxes they were like 10.99. I don't mind overpaying for a little fun, but not that much.

  5. Based on the tin covers, we should tune in tomorrow.
    Same “bat”-time, same “bat”-channel.

  6. Maybe you will find some new Braves in those packs. Maybe an autograph or a nice parallel. One can only hope. Enjoy the time and the rip!
