You ain't going to believe this.

Well, I went to meet my cardiologist this afternoon (got back an hour ago). I will show you guys some cards in a minute, but I have to tell this story first.

Probably not going to have my heart shocked, as she said I would still be on the meds even it it worked. That's #1. #2 She doesn't care what I eat including fast food, lol. (my labs really are that good). #3 If I drink alcohol, don't drink the brown liquor, switch to the clear. The only goal she has is to get the right meds to "slowly" get my heart rate down and stay that way. We'll be doing pretty much all future appointments over the telephone. In her opinion the A-Fib is because in her opinion I have sleep apnea (because I only sleep 4-6 hours a night for the last 40 plus years and those aren't continuous hours either) which can not be treated as physically I can't sleep with anything attached to me. I sleep very little and toss and turn non-stop all night wrapping up in whatever covers I have, it just wouldn't work. She really does want me to do the home test for it, but again guaranteed the mask thing would never stay on my face, not to mention the wrapping it up inside my covers. LOL. I flip from side to side every 15 minutes even when I am asleep, and rarely have I ever had REM sleep. She would prefer I not drink caffeinated beverages, but is figuring that too is a lost cause, lol. I will certainly give it a good reduction especially with the Mountain Dew. So there you have my first and more than likely only in person visit with my brand new cardiologist.

Okay, let get to purchase second and third purchases from the Tampa card show.

There was a dealer that had a stack on these original 1973 Wacky Packages in one of his cases. I paid less than a buck a piece. I actually needed two of the variations (* vs **), and two more were upgrades. The oldest in the batch two stickers from the series 4, there were also a pair of series 3, but the majority were from series 1.

Purchase 3: A Braves autograph! Blue framed numbered to 50.

I probably paid the top value on this one, but still happy to have added it!

Have a great night!

  1. Super glad the heart is doing well, and I wish you good luck on the lifestyle changes, they are hard.

    1. That's just it there isn't any lifestyle changes (other than no Dew)

  2. They do have different mouth guards that can be made to help with sleep apnea, but maybe you wouldn't tolerate wearing that either while sleeping. Just a thought. All the best!

    1. my problem with attaching something to me is that with my back... I flip flop the full width of the bed, and flip flop from head of the bed to the foot of the bed all while wrapped completely in whatever covers I have. like a burrito each and every cover, head to toe, sheets, blankets, and the comforter. unless they screw it on, it ain't going to survive. to give you an idea I must buy a new electric blanket every year, just from the very little use it gets down here in Florida, but yet my tossing and turning totally rips the wiring out of it....totally.

    2. Yeah, so there are mouth guards though that you can use that help open the airway to help correct sleep apnea. So if you could tolerate sleeping with one of those mouth guards in, you could avoid the pesky masks and tubes and such.

    3. as a mouth breather (I am), that sounds like something I could mention to her. Is there a name for it?

    4. You could just ask about an oral appliance for sleep apnea, but the official name is a mandibular advancement device (MAD for short) if you want to be technical about it. Guessing they'd know what you are getting at either way.

  3. I'm glad the appointment went pretty well, and hope everything goes back to normal.

That Smith-Shawver auto is awesome! He was looking pretty good last season before injury. Hopefully he can reach his full potential when healthy.

  4. Good to hear you got some answers on the appointment. Some in my family have apnea. The masks and tubing are an issue for them also. Hoping for more answers as you have appointments. I've always liked Wacky Packages and the humor they include. Enjoy the time all!

  5. Love the Wackys. And the blue frame is pretty.

It's nice to get the all-clear from the doctor. ... Your way of sleeping would wear me out!

  6. Sweet Wacky's! And this post was really helpful in regards to the sleep apnea thing. I kinda roll around myself... but I do want to get tested at some point. I only get 4 to 6 hours of sleep too and would love to get 6+ on a daily basis.

  8. Happy heart news! My wife thinks I need a C-PAP machine, but I keep telling her I move around too much that it wouldn't work!

    1. cpap and mad are no go for me, down to option of the implant, to be considered/discussed next month. and of course the meds are eventually going to control the heart rate (a-fib) which they still haven't found the right one as mine is still jumping from the 50's to 150 currently. at least it's not hitting the 240's like it was lol. lots of favors I've been getting, to be covered in tonight's post.
