FRANKEN-FRIDAY: TRIPLE DEUCES

Let's get the numbers out of the way first.

According to Beckett there are 4,224 baseball cards numbered with 222.

I own (rather have dupes of) 194.

The numbers from the triple ones were 9,372 cards, and the trend of cutting in half doesn't stop with the deuces. Each number decreases as we progress through them.

The Braves once again had more than any other team with 15. Now, there is an obvious reason for that. I keep my Braves dupes separate from all of the others and I also go through my Braves cards pretty thorough when I get a card. If it isn't a need, I check the numbering and whatever else to see if I can put it somewhere other than in a dupes box.

With that said the Dodgers were right behind the Braves with 13 followed by the Astros with 12. Pirates and Royals each had 11. The White Sox had 10 to cover everyone in double digits, pun intended.

Only one player this time with three entrys and again it was 2000 Topps base, HTA, and Limited of Kevin Millwood a Brave. There a dozen players who appeared twice.

Now here are the pages, mind you for the rest of the triplets I will be scanning them before I put them in the binder to make less scanning.

The earliest card here is the 65'. A dozen years knocked out on one scan.

In case you think I have the cards in the wrong order I don't. I was overlapping pages that lined up with the next page to reduce scans.

There is the Millwood I mentioned. No idea why the scan on the last card appears different.

That's all folks. Have a great weekend.

Richie Rich

This go around is part two from Richie up in Jacksonville.

I can't help myself when I see the refractor parallels for those 52' Chrome Platinum cards.

Artist Proofs and framed parallels from Diamond Kings. Not to mention the top row in case you may have heard of those fellas.

I'm going to have refrain from grabbing anymore of these. Pretty sure I've gotten them all by now. I won't know for sure as they are in the PC boxes. BTW I do have an update on that particular project that I have been putting off for three years.

I completed the first round of sorting those monster boxes. Apx 60,000 cards now placed in show boxes alphabetically by last name. Not the players in alphabetical order yet. That is the 2nd wave of sorting. I will take the 2 1/2 show boxes of players with the last name beginning with the letter A and sort them by players and alphabetically as well. Once I do the "As", then I can pull up the excel sheets for the "As" and see which ones I actually need. Add the ones I didn't have, put the other dupes in the trade boxes. Take the new additions inside and wait to re-do the PC binders. I will have to comingle the cards from the 2 major sorts I did while in Georgia with the ones I am in the process now before i can actually put them into my binders. I have to wait because I want them chronologically in the books. If I don't wait I'll be messing with them three more times just for what I have. Nope, not going to handle them that many times. Then I can move on to the letter "B", and so on.

Now you know why I put it off.

Finishing up with a run of Mickey Mantle cards. Plus I just realized that I still had one more of the surprises out of that monster box of vintage cards. OOPS!

I'll have to post that one up Tuesday and then finish with Richie's cards on Wednesday.

Little Richard

That title gotcha didn't it. hehehe. No that guy. I am talking the new guy up in Jax. Richie. Albeit he is no little guy. He's tall and fit too. No I had made my plans to dig through all of his team boxes and grab up what I could. I didn't fill a monster box, but I did get it 2/3 full. Made my deal, and sadly until he gets all new stuff I done digging there. Skipping out on the Jax show this past weekend helps on the timeline for Richie to restock the good stuff. Meanwhile I have 3 posts to highlight the stuff I picked up from him.

Put them horizontal cards up there first for you fellas that like those.

Love that mix of Ted Williams cards sitting side by side.

Yes, I got that 73' Pete Rose for .33.

These were a blast t pull out of the boxes. I grabbed everyone I could find (hence the trips on Boggy). I probably have 5 or 6 of the O'neil Cruz sets/pairs).

Here is the stopping point for tonight, 2 more posts from Richie then I will post my Braves additions from the show (I did show y'all a few of them already).

TRADE DAY: OAKLAND ATHLETICS

Let's see if the boys in GREEN draw any interest.

That's like 3 Olson cards.

Masonic Monday: GRANDPA JONES

I'm trying to stretch these out for the year and I believe I may just make it with a little to spare. That means next year I should have Mondays back for my "mini" collections THEME. Then pretty soon into the New Year, yes I said it.... it will be here before you know it. Post season baseball is on the horizon and Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. I will have finished all of the "new" Franken-Set posts and will be able to have three days to post deals on baseball cards.

I'm sure there are plenty of you out there that have never heard of him. I however, grew up watching Hee Haw on Saturday nights.

Just checkout that stache!

Upcoming articles will cover Glenn Ford, Harry Houdini, and Barry Goldwater.

Remember tomorrow's TRADE DAY is Oakland A's.
