Wacky Wednesday: 1991 Topps Wacky Packages

Here we go, this will give you a chance to see some "newer" parodies that may not have been around with the original 16 series. There are a few that have been re-done.

Unopened pack. This re-run set has variations. Some stickers are puzzle backs (standard), and some have ad/coupon backs. This is also noticeable on the fronts as the as backs do not have trademark lingo on the front.

That's all folks. There are 4 re-run series in 79' & 80'. We'll get to those. I think next week, I'll do the 1986 album stickers. They are a bit smaller, but work just fine.

I mentioned last week that I would be running home (Ocala, FL). I did. My trip home was great. I was able to spend some quality time with Elijah (Eli) my grandson and with my daughter. I also mentioned in that same post that Hunter (my youngest daughter) was pissed off at me because I had gotten onto her (She'll be 22 next birthday). She must have thought about it, and did not do what she was planning and spent the day and a half with me. That was the most time I've been able to spend with her since she moved back into our home a few years ago. Not that this year counts too much as this was just the second night I spent sleeping in my bed. All in all 100% satisfied. Besides the great family time I was also blessed with a box of cards from my dealer buddy Bob. This is where you get to decide comes into play. Bob is a dealer and has been a friend of mine for over 25 years. We harass the heck out of each other every time we see each other, that's just how we are......busting each other's chops. I love it.

Anyway, I called Bob. I asked him what I owed him for the cards and as always he said what do you want to give me. There is typically some chop busting here both ways. There was. Tonight I'll show you the cards, and I'd like for y'all to comment to the " total value" of said cards, and what you actually pay for them. Simple, should be fun.


Here we go.

I didn't need either of the two Spahn cards.

I definitely needed both Gehrig cards. Most of the other cards are not needed for the set build, but are likely needed in the PC's. yes, that Fleer is a little banged up, well multiple creases.

The series 1 BLUE set stands out in my mind, but I didn't recall this brick red series 2 set. I already have the Justice so I obviously have seen it before.

A slew of these, and Bob hates letting them go. Most of these (99%) are from series 3 and 4.

There was even some 2020 stuff.

Didn't really need the World Series cards, but needed the Lindor relic.

SCC surprise

I already had both of the Turkey Red Albies and the Chipper Gallery. But, I did not have the parallel Fried or Soroka cards. That's two new Braves for me and qualifies SCC for this month's Bingo game. Thank you.

Just the 4 players this week. I am making a run to my home in Ocala today and should return tomorrow. Taking 20 or so binders back home, and I hope to find  many many cards missing up here in GA. I plan on spending the night so that I hang out with grandson before his first birthday which is in 10 days. Yes, my daughter too. Although she is a little pissed at me right now as I got on her about a vanity issue, hopefully she has gotten over that.

In the last week or so a couple of people had passed (not Covid related), and I didn't mention them here. RIP Charlie Daniels. I listen to CDB a ton as a kid right along with Lynyrd Skynyrd and KISS. He kept the Devil from coming back to Georgia for a long time. The other person I failed to mention was just the other day. Kelly Preston, she and the family lived in Ocala. Pretty lady, funny lady. RIP.

Wacky Wednesday. 1975 series 12

 

I borrowed this from the Topps Website. Hey this is my Wacky Wednesday. Now onto the 1975 Series 12. Again, not complete. I have 14 of the 27 stickers. I do not have a wrapper, pack nor the puzzle either. 

Good news/Bad news........Bad news first. This is the last of the Wackys that I have from the original 16 series. Good news.....I had multiple complete sets of 1-15 when I was a kid. They were confiscated from me at school in the fifth grade. I guess that is really bad news too, huh? I never had any of the 16th and final "original" set. Boy oh boy is it pricey. Eventually I will have them all. 

More good news.....Wacky Wednesday is not over. Why you say? Certainly, let me explain. Topps and sometimes OPC produced sets later. Topps had re-runs (4 sets 1979 & 1980). Album stickers in 1982 & 1986. There was another set in 1985 as well. Then you also have other 70's sets like Wonder Bread issues etc. See lots of stickers. Then we can throw in the All New Series (ANS) runs, and the Old School run, and the Flashback run. BTW, Pretty sure I have all of the ANS, OS, FB runs. Then the whatever you call them after those including the MLB set in 2016. Topps let loose some more in 2017, 2018, 2019, and yes 2020 legit Wacky packages. Of course they (2020) are weekly on demand on the Topps web-site. You get 5 stickers and 2 chase stickers for 15.00. UGH.. So as you can see we will still be doing Wacky Wednesdays. If I by chance I pick up stickers from series 13-16 I will post them right away. I think I'll start with the Old School run first instead of the ANS. No, I know what I am going to do next week. You'll have to wait and see.

Finally got my 2020 Bowman Chrome Prospects Braves in. I was sweating those. They've been out awhile, and I hadn't picked them up. Done.
