READ ALL ABOUT IT!

Hear ye Hear ye. Read all about it. The sound of that (yes I spoke it out loud to myself) puts a vivid picture of a young lad standing on a street corner peddling the newspapers. The media, we've come a long way since those days. Well, most of y'all have. I have a smart phone, but it's only used for talking and reluctantly texting. I'm not a member or whatever you call having an account with Facebook, twitter, snap chat stuff, or anything like it. Heck, I haven't long been away from windows 3.1 using AOL dial up (at least that's what I tell people). No, I've got too many baseball cards to play with, count, sort, re-sort, box or page, scan, and then do whatever. I easily have enough right now to do that would last the rest of my life without ever having to buy another card. But, that won't happen. You know it won't. I am just old fashion, heck I would much rather talk to someone in person than to talk on the phone. I'll will say this, if it wasn't for baseball cards I wouldn't even use the internet, no e-mail or anything. Ah, that sounds so nice to MY ears, yes I said that out loud too, lol. Back to the media focus. I picked up some "old fashion" media in Jax last weekend. I need not say another word.

Oh, yeah that's how you listen to music. Scratched records and everything. hey, I only said that I need not say anything else, not that I wouldn't.

Now, you know I didn't get these for myself, albeit many have PC guys on the cover.

There were a lot of guides. I grabbed the ones I figured people might want.

You see I plan on hosting another BFG (Big Fun Game) or what I call a Chinese Auction.

Probably sometime next month.

I will however change up (play on bb lingo) the rules a bit.

So that the game plays faster. Which will be a good thing because I am figuring more participants.

I will announce the details before the end of this month.

I am still gathering "items" to put up.

These media guides will be included except for the Braves. And I'll have to.....

pair up some of these especially the Cubs.

Feel free to comment below if you want a spot in this years round. I apologize but all participants must be stateside or have a stateside (lower 48) address to keep shipping costs at a minimum. All posts between now & the announcement of the modified rules will accept joining in on the fun. The first rule change is to reduce the # of steals an item can have. I'm thinking 2 steals, what do you think about that?

Have a great night and safe weekend!

A Minor post

Let's see. Make that a Minor League post. The cards you are about to see all came from the oddball boxes I picked up in Jax last Saturday.

I found these two for my PC's.

I scanned these 3 for a reason. All of the cards here are from 1990 Best. However, about 20% of the cards I got have the black border whereas the rest are borderless. I apologize for the crappy scan job on the Pennington card. The bottom pair have an issue that was also constant through the cards. The name on the front uses a "V" where it should be a "U". I don't get it, the backs are correct.

Who knows. Moving on to some of the other cards in the lot.

A few guys here that made the Bigs.

These guys (minus Ozzie) had a decent career in the Bigs. I couldn't resist putting him in there.

And for the best part of these minor leaguers........ the Braves.......

A few names that I remember watching. I forgot about Turk playing for the Braves, my brain is getting old. Yep, hopping the chalk and brushing the teeth.

I had no idea that Al Martin was in the Braves farm system.

Tyler didn't pan out for the Braves. Guess that's why he was traded to the Cubs, but I'm sure you cubbies will forgive the Braves. Crap, before he was traded to the Cubs the Braves whooped up the Cubs in a 18-1 wash out where Tyler picked up 5 RBI's.

I'll throw out some neat stuff this weekend, see ya.

Have a great night!

What are the odds?

Part two of the odd ball cards I picked up last Saturday will be from one set.

Being a Braves fan and a die-hard loyal National Leaguer, I could never put the AL card on top of the NL. Even if the AL card is card #1 of the set.

I had never seen this set before. The cards are just a smidgen taller than a normal card.

Lots of keepers in the set. Although I didn't get the complete set, someone had pulled 3 or so.

Now for the real ball players, the NL!

Here's a look at the card backs. See 20 keepers, or should I say 17 for me as 3 were short.

Closing out tonight with the lone Brave.

Have a great night!

Odds and ends

I split my bring home goodies this trip to Jax between some Braves, all of the loose 2018's, and odd balls. Lots of odd ball sets/partial sets. So many that I will have to do many posts to cover all of the great "odd ball" stuff. You're going to want to see them all.

HH1-HH4.  All just happen to be keepers for the PC's.

Now on to basically  1 set/series for the remainder of this post.

1980 TCMA. 5 of 6 make my PC binders, so looks like Mr. Staley is going into the trade boxes.

All 6 of these guys make the PC's, sorry Dodger fans.

4 of these 6 make the PC.

1980 TCMA.  6 of the 8 above make my PC's.

1980 TCMA.  Another 6 for 8.

Now this is also 1980 TCMA, and I have no idea why it looks different. I guess they had their reasons. 5 Keepers here.

and all 6 of these are keepers.

1983 TCMA. 4 of 6 make the PC's.

and 4 of these 6 make my PC binders.

So that is the appetizer for the the odd ball cards I picked up.

Have a great night.

Have a great night

Oh No Mo

Throwing out the N's & O's of my PC.  Not physically, just literally.  It is hard coming up with post titles sometime, and this one certainly has me tongue tied. No More= Nomo. Like I said, I tried.

Hal Newhouser: 12 different.

Kid Nichols: zero (Dang it and he was a Brave.

Phil Niekro: 111 different cards.

Hideo Nomo: 143 different cards.

No doubt that this card is a Sample.

Hank O'Day: zero cards for now.

Walter O'Malley: zero cards for now.

Jim O'Rourke: zero cards for now.

Shohei Ohtani: 2 different

Thats white spot is something on my scanner I need to clean off. This was my first Ohtani card, and the only Topps Now purchase I've ever made. I grabbed a 10 pack of these. I still have 5 I'm hanging on to for a few years.

Tony Oliva: 11 different.

Nice to add a rookie.

David Ortiz: 75 different cards.

Mel Ott: 27 different.

Side note  I need to know who that Cleveland Indians collector was I previously traded with. Please email me if it was you.

Also need Once a Cub to mail me his addy.

May the Forth be with you. Have a great night, heading to Jacksonville tomorrow.

This is "whacked" Wednesday

I bought this set last week for under $10.00 delivered. It was a buy it now on Ebay while a dozen others were listed all between $28.99 plus shipping and $49.00. Tell me why.

Now, I needed the set for my Braves collection, but due to the high numbering on the Braves here I needed some for the Franken-Set as I already had a few of them. Jewett btw if it was an extra would make the Holiday binder as his birthday is on Halloween. Not worth $40.00.

Houston played a few games in the bigs, still not worth $40.00.

Okay so there is Chipper, still not a $40.00 set. Oh, I see a bubble gum (Karcher) I now need an extra of.

Hubbard certainly doesn't make this a $40.00 set, no offense Glenn. So why is this set so darn high? You can actually grab the Chipper (if you were nuts) for $10.00 all day long. I wouldn't pay but a buck for the card myself. It is a ProCards set, and a cheesy one at that, but cool all the less. I still need the humpdeen other minor league braves sets many with this same design.

Okay, I vented. I feel better now.

Have a great night.
