Feature Presentation: GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS

If scantily clad ladies offend you please refrain from scrolling down. These are vintage arcade cards that are basically the same as the Exhibits cards in baseball. These were "prizes" on boardwalks and other arcades of the 70's. When you didn't have enough tickets after spending all of your money playing games, you could always get these for a ticket. The vendor (again my favorite vendor) said they used to call them penny cards. I grew up going to the boardwalk in Daytona every summer and I don't remember ever seeing these ladies, heck I would have used all of my tickets on them.

I see that double. But it was worth looking at twice.

That last one there is from the 50's. And you can consider this as a warm up to my next post. Take that for what you will, but it is where I am going to tease Gavin. That's all I'm saying.

Showtime

I'm continuing with the cards I picked up in Jacksonville on the 7th. Non-sports vintage.

3 from the Wild West series. The smaller one is a 1948 Bowman, and I was lazy and haven't looked up the others.

This one is from the 1940 Lone Ranger set.

Needs no introduction. This one is a keeper and will go nicely in the holiday binder.

Okay, so maybe this qualifies as a sports card.

These oldies can teach you to speak Swahili!

Let's try a few posts in a row from the Jax Show 2 weeks ago.

I have no idea how I missed this set when it first came out. I like it.

Even the base cards look good considering no logos.

A couple more parallel cards from the Panini set, and some other great cards.

All of the cards above came from my fav. dealer at show. Less than a dime a piece.

These weren't a dime a piece. They did come from that same dealer though. Just like the Mantle's, Aaron's, and Jeter's I showed previously. Lots more from this dealer this week.

Holy Smokes...

Sometime last year I found that there was a "card" store here in Valdosta (it was new). I stopped in back then and found it 99% gaming. Only a single box of sports cards covering 70's-current then. I stopped in today (Friday), just to see how it was doing. And there was a whole lot more sports cards. i spoke with the owner, really it is still 99% gaming. However, he had brought in and bought some more baseball cards. He now has about 10 monster boxes of cards from the last 3 years. he had one box of vintage. He also has a binder of very nice vintage cards, that he and I will be trading cards for. that was supposed to be tomorrow, but I shot the passenger rear vent window out of my uncle's van with a slingshot today, don't ask it happened. I will be trying to get that replaced tomorrow even though I know it's unlikely, but I have to try. So it maybe a week or two before I get that binder.

The shoebox there only had 1 side with cards. These were in the box. Not in the greatest of shape. That Lou Brock was by far the worst. I'd say 75% of them were gd-vg.

HUGE stack of 65's.....

and 66's. I managed to find a couple hundred that I needed whereas most will need to be upgraded. leaving me with about 250ish that go into the dupe/trade boxes.

Question.  What did I pay for these cards, all of which are pictured above? Yes, there were some stars and Hofers. No Mantles. lol.  (I wrote this last night and posting today).

Yep, no secret recipes or food fixers today. Just some more from that Ebay Braves oddball win. I was lazy and didn't scan these until last night. Pretty sure this is the last of it. But it will be filling if ya know what I mean.

This looks like it was cut out from a magazine. I like it.

This apparently was cut out of something of cardboard, I'm thinking a figurine box or something like that. Maybe even a milk carton. I don't know, but I have two.

 This looks like it could be a blog header. I just wouldn't know how to do it. Would've made a great night card, wait a minute, this shot probably does appear on cardboard some where. Who's gonna do that research cuz it ain't me.  lol.  If I was the Braves I'd of bitched about the 2 Cubs in the forefront, lol.


Now, that we've finished the appetizers, let's look at the main course (the filling portion).

Yes sirs and mams, this filled up the entire scanner bed. Hey, I only said no food fixes, or recipes. I didn't say there wouldn't be food references.

This was cut out from some 11x14ish magazine.

Team issued 8x10's.

The back side calls this a card. Produced by the Atlanta Journal to raise money for the the Braves Foundation. It's even serial numbered. Oh my, lol.


The next 4 are also from the Journal and are also called "cards" just a tad smaller than the one above. More like a 8.5x10.5.

Hopefully your bellies are full, no just your eyes. After all, most of fill our plates with our eyes.
