1953 trip cards

Didn't get as many 53's as I did 52's, but I'm not complaining, I'll always be happy to get more 52's than 53's, lol.

One of the other DiMaggio brothers.

Dizzy looks dizzy for sure.

Yep, that's it, just 4 1953 Topps. One looks like it was a wallet card, and two have paper loss on the fronts.

A story to tell

Before starting this story (a short one, sort of).....My prayers go out to those affected by last night's horrible shooting.

Awhile back I mentioned about driving to the North Georgia to check out 250,000 cards. I did go, took my Uncle's mini van so I would have a way to transport them back should I purchase them. Well, it must have been meant for me NOT to have them. I mean the signs were all there:1) for starters as I was exiting I-75 to merge onto the Atlanta by-pass (285), the van stalled and wouldn't start up. There I was sitting smack dab in the middle of the 6 lanes. I was just 19 miles from the card shop. It was 1:06pm......For anyone who knows that area and that time of day, and the traffic ugh........! (making lemonade: 2 truckers helped me get the van off to the (left side of the highway). 2) After cooling off, I was able to make it about a mile down the road crossing over to get to the right hand lanes when it died again (I could number 5 more times the van broke stalled out each having to cool in between each "journey"). It took nearly 4 hours to go those 19 miles. Once at the card shop I knew the van would cool off plenty to get over to my aunt's house 5 miles away, after all I was there to look at those cards. It didn't take long (the first box) to realize I did not want to just buy the lot without looking at each box. This dealer knew I was only interested in the baseball cards, and specifically 1995 to current. 3) reason 3 the cards were mixed sports and mainly mid 80s-90s. That's not to say they wasn't anything else in those boxes. There was some 60's, 70's and 95 to current in them too. i actually looked through (quickly) 4 or 5 boxes. I set one box aside as it might be a good one. There was a total of 65 5000 count boxes. I made the decision to not get them, not a $5.00 a box. 4) reason 4 .. had I bought them the extra 2000+ lbs of weight to a vehicle having apparent transmission and fuel system issues, not a good idea. I did however hit up the guys "LESSER CONDITIONED" VINTAGE. He had 1 3000 count box and a 1500 count box. Now the cards were sleeved and in top loaders, so the number in the those boxes I'm not sure. Longer story short, I brought home both boxes. Spent more than I had planned too, not to mention I had to take all of those cards out of the sleeves and top loaders, as I don't store cards with them. I also had to sort them which I never really mind that task, although it is seldom a very fun activity. So far I have sorted them all, turns out there were 3x the cards i didn't need than the cards I needed for set builds which was still significant. I was also able to pull several hundred HOFers for the PC's, although it maybe a very long time before I can update or check any of those files. But still there were doubles in those too, so I will be hosting a contest.

I won't be posting from that trip every single day, but most days until I've covered the 1952-1979 Topps cards, 50's Bowman, misc, and PC guys which is where I will pull the prize.

SIMPLE RULES:  Follow this blog, and comment (comment on the blog posts showing cards from that trip INCLUDING THIS ONE). Only 1 comment per post per person. No limit of entries either, the more you enter the more chances to win the prize.

So Let's get started with the 1952 Topps.

Not all of the cards are in poor condition, some are actually in excellent condition.

Black back and in really good shape too.

Another decent shape black back.

I've always been a guy who said any card is better than no card.

so, when you have 1952 Topps in bad shape..........

and look Stanley signed this card, lol.

9 additions for the 407 cards set. (MY FIRST 9, LOL). I have checked the cards off of my paper lists, I still need to put them on the webpage.

Closing out again with prayers for EVERYONE!

My 2 cents, and a COMC order.

Well, I might as well get this over. I am PISSED, as a veteran....a service connected disabled veteran. My injuries were for freedom, but NOT the freedom to disrespect the flag! Taking a knee does nothing for any "movement" IT WILL NOT make anything better in fact is WILL make things worse. It is an asinine thing to do. I personally am offended by such things. You don't have to salute, or place your hand over your heart, but to outright disrespect (kneeling at a sporting event) ignores our Nations National anthem, and says to me XXXXXXXXXX. I say get the f out of my country. I am done with the NFL, NBA, and if that asshole in Oakland causes a virus in MLB I'll be done with that too. I am not literally done with those other 2 sports, but physically as well. I will never again spend one AMERICAN red cent on one of their cards. I will throw in the trash where they now belong any that I have or come my way for whatever reason other than the John Elway Super Collection. I will find something else to do with those. Something that will have a serious affect and effect to a worthy cause, unlike those idiots disrespecting me and every other veteran out there.  I hope and pray that MLB does NOT allow anymore crap like what Maxwell pulled. That would really suck. Now for some GREAT baseball cards, and yes the Elway Blog will die on the vine.

I decided to put a dent in the Braves team sets.

so what better way than to add some vintage.

I hope you enjoy the vintage cards.

Lookie what I found

A couple of weeks back (before the storms) we were going through one of the hundreds of boxes/bins my Uncle's "stuff" is stored in. I had recently set up one of his dvd players and was going through a bin of dvd's.

Low and behold I spied something oddly familiar.

Mint condition 1972 Kellogg's baby, oh yeah.  Now if only the other 53 were in that bin, hey I can dream.

I also found the following in my mailbox back in Florida last week.

These "double-sided" 4x6 photo cards came via Mark Hoyle.

I have no idea what they are from, but I like them. Thank you Mark (what are they?).

The back side photos.

Just before I those awful storms I had received a trade package from Matt at Bubbas Bangin Batch of Baseball Bits.   Blog for Matt

Absolute beauties, this is what regular A&G should look like, love them, thanks Matt.

Wacky Wednesday

Well I'm back in Georgia, things are a mess (not from Harvey or Irma), just from running all over these last couple of weeks, more of a disarray if you will. I apologize for that last post of WW as I just checked it to see the over sized puzzle image and the under sized. i did correct it btw.

Stickers 19 through 27.  A couple of good ones here. I like Poop Tarts, and Hot Whales is bordeline oops.

The 2 different puzzles backs for the above stickers.

I have a couple of trade posts to put up still this week and 1 from a COMC order.

Alive and well on Wacky Wednesday

Survived the storm, just got power back in GA, no power still at my house in FL or at my daughter house in Ft Myers, also with no damage at either. Truly blessed, will be travelling for the next week or so to check the houses out, etc.. Not sure when I'll be posting again.

UPDATE: I've been told I have power at home in FL. I'm going to try to head down tomorrow night, but there are complications with that...... I-75 may shut down due to the Sante Fe river flooding and has risen to record levels today. It is 156 miles from here to my house, the detour if I-75 closes is 200-300 miles "additional" NUTS, but I hope it is clear when my sister get here tomorrow and when I get to that spot (the half way point). The normal alternate routes have already been shut down. Cross your fingers for me! and here's some cards to look at.

Okay, so they're stickers.

and their puzzle backs.

Shadow Shots Plus Whose collecting?

Good Saturday morning Cardsphere!

Some kind of creepy crawly.

A mummy with with one leg 2 foot longer than the other.

Some Arizona Cacti.

A polar bear with really long legs! Okay maybe that's a stretch, so let's go with The Beast (Marvel).
Normally I would be at the Jax. Show today, but I am skipping it this month and next week we'll see.

Whose collecting 2017 A&G mini's? I remember one guy last year who sent me those Ginter X Braves, but I don't know who is is (MY BAD FOR NOT WRITING IT DOWN).

Have a great weekend!
