Awesomeness from Adam

Awhile back... last month sometime I had gotten a small flat rate box of Braves from Adam over at ArpSmith's Sportscard Obsession. Well, I have finally got around to scanning a bunch of them.

A pair of unscratched 3 card panels. All of the ones I had been separated so these are new to me. That panel on the left is an awesome trio.

I hadn't seen any of these square Fan Paks before, so new to me also.

A couple of over sized cards. Pretty sure I had that Horner but I haven't checked any of these yet. Adam sent a handful of of over size goodies.

A very small piece about an inch+ square I'd say.

All of these Braves reminds me that I never finished logging the massive box I got from Wes either. Dang, I've some work to do.

You know, I really am going to have to put a MAJOR scratching on my OPC set builds.

I'm not sure what to call those Topps base cards that aren't base cards, they are the ones that are numbered by NL.

Love the way those Artifacts cards sit side by side.

And the WINNER is.....

Okay, for those of you who know me or at least are familiar with my contests, you know sometimes I make it tricky (I mean fun). This time I threw in the bit about the 300 cards that RUDE SONSABEE skated with.  So, did I use the 2,330 count or the 2,630 count? You didn't know. It doesn't really matter of course because it is one of my contests. Either way, five people guessed with the per card cost between .03-.08 cents each. If you use the 2,330 count the cost was actually:  .042 cents, and the 2,630 count would be .038. With the 5 guesses being .03, .05, .06, .07, .08 no one chose .04 which would have been the closest either way. So I am declaring that all 5 guessers are winners. I already know what I am sending to DefGav, Julie, TLC, and Tom T, and it looks like Stealing Home is jonesing for some Dodgers so that makes all Five. Shoot me an e-mail confirming your addresses and out a package will go.

First box is the 2017s (on the left).  Box on the right are the 1500 inserts/parallels.

Some highlights:

There were about a dozen of the 2016 Walmart Holiday cards in the box. Still nearly 500 cards with the stars for $8.00.  My kind of deal, even though I already have the series complete. This was a great way to hit my many mini collections.

This is the box of the Vintage.

Break down is as follows:

There were also 300 cards that I "kindly" allowed another collector to pull. Now I wasn't pleased about this as he had just grabbed the first handful when I told him I had just made an offer for the entire box, and was waiting on the vendors decision. I said he could go ahead and pull some. An hour later he was still pulling and I had nudged him a few times after the dealer agreed to my offer, in fact I even counted the damn things when he had pulled 100, and he kept going. This was one of those times where I shouldn't have been nice, and told him sorry dude they're all mine put them back. I should have told him, they are .25 each, give me $75.00, knowing he would say forget about it. But, oh well I was nice and it is over.  Don't forget to guess how much I paid for the cards. Counting the 300 there would be 2,630 cards, otherwise would be 2,330.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

I went to a card show yesterday. The same show I went to last month, but didn't really post anything from it. I will drag this out for a couple of days.

First up, the Good.

Braves card = GOOD, Warren Spahn = GOOD, 1954 = GOOD.

Same as above except 1957.

The 2 Spahn cards were the highest cost cards I picked up. I did manage to grab a bunch of Rookie cup cards I needed too.


I came home home with the cards above (The Good), but I also came home with 3 other boxes.

I was a 500 count box full of 2017 Topps base cards (there were a couple of parallels in it too). I will highlight some of the keys in a day or two. I already have Series one complete, so this was picked up to pull PC cards. Get this is was $8.00....


I also picked up another box of nothing but inserts and parallels cards from a guy that I bought a 3000 count box from the last show, but it was only half baseball, the rest were basketball and football, so this time he had another box (he told me last month he would bring it). However, I told him I really didn't want anything but the baseball, he was good with that. Cut the price right down the middle for me.  Remember those amazing nickel inserts?  This time it was only 1300 ish cards. So when I get to them I will just mix them in with the others I never scanned. But that is for later.


The last box I picked up was a VINTAGE 3000 count box 99% 70s cards. You heard me right, these were a dealers quarter box cards. Now I wasn't the first guy to dig through them, so when I offered on the whole box I came home with apx. 2500, will no for sure tomorrow once I count them and sort them.  Who doesn't like .25 vintage cards? I certainly do, but you know you have to expect that there will be some really BAD cards, and there were a handful, but only a handful. Those are the bad and UGLY you will see tonight.

Tommy John is really just a surface issue, and Fregosi and Harrison have creases even if you can't see them here. The others are self explanatory as you will journey through. And yes it wasn't just 70's cards there were small amount of 60's and a couple of 50's.

Some of these are abvously from the same collection or collector.

The majority of the 60's were from 1967. Oh look..... A Don Money Rookie card. LOL.

it really is a shame for many of these cards with the RF, CF, LF written on them, otherwise many of those were SWEET. There are a couple of 59's that don't have writing on them, hehe. Maybe I'll hold a contest for them.

I cropped those poorly, but it's fitting. But......

Most of the cards were just fine, like the ones above. That Catfish card has wax stain on front as does one of the two on top, but I can't tell from the scan.  I would say that 75% of this box was in the condition like above. Absolutely, okay for my collection, heck I'd say maybe a third of the box were actually NM with the majority of those being 1973 and 1974.  I will shoot a scan of the overall cards from this box, once counted and sorted so I know how much per card I paid. Meanwhile you guys have fun and take a guess. That's right, it is a CONTEST.

Rules are simple US mailing address and a follower, just comment with you guesses. No idea when I will end it, but it won't be until I scan some of the goodies from this box, and the overall stacks from the different years with the breakdown on quantity and overall condition of each stack. The only CLUE is that this was a quarter box, 3000 count box, with apx. 500 cards already out of it.

Been awhile

I haven't posted since last Saturday when I got back to Georgia. It has been very hectic getting my Uncle home from the rehab. I've been so tired every night that most nights I didn't even check e-mails. (I don't use my phone to check e-mails either). I've had a lot of cards that I'd like to show off, but I think I will be putting the ones I picked up myself away.


I do have a few cards to show off tonight.

This card came as a contest winner over at The Lost Collector. Aj also threw in a couple of Braves. Thanks AJ.

These 2 Glavines came from Tom over at Angels in Order. Tom had recently posted about scratching a wax ripping itch he had. Tom busted a box of 1993 Fleer, and offered many up, and I chimed right in. I got these two and nearly knocked out my series 2 needs too. I still have to update that list.

This in person autograph came from a buddy of Lemanczyk up in New Yuawk. Okay that's just me trying to be funny. But, seriously one of my OCT trading buds (Don Roth) ia a golfing bud with Dave who is a golf instructor up there. I send all of my extras' to him so he can give them to the kids he coaches. I asked don to get him to sign one for me the last batch I sent, and he did. thanks Don and Dave!  BTW, that is an O-Pee-Chee card.

Last and certainly not least is a new to me Elway. Bob D'Angelo the sports blogger for a trade mag as well as the Tampa Tribune sent this one to me. Bob D and Wes/JBF have been my main source for new to me Elways over the last few years, thanks Bob.

I also got a box of cards from Adam (Arpsmith) recently that I still need to go through before I scan some up.
