I mentioned yesterday that I have been hitting up Ebay these last many weeks. The slow and expensive releases by Fanatics and Panini as well is just too much. The usual go to websites for singles and sets are also through the roof, so Ebay it is. I've tried to avoid it this week as I am actually planning on going to the Jacksonville card show which it has been two years since I been. This would also be the first time at the stupid location they have been in. No parking at the hotel. You must park a half mile away and be taken to the hotel by van. Obviously this was the number 1 reason why I haven't been to the show followed closely by it being an addition 30 minutes further away. We'll see.
2025 Topps Chrome Tennis.
The majority were horizontal as this is a 300 card set. You might tell yourself that I am a fan of tennis, but you would be wrong. I'm not and haven't watched a match since the 70's. I do like some of the pretty ladies though.
So now you ask "why are you collecting the tennis sets?" I would respond that believe it or not there isn't that many sets and usually can be had for a reasonable price. There are just 3 Topps Chrome sets. 2021, 2024, 2025. And very few others and those are typically very very small sets.
The 2021 set came to me via a 3K count monster box full for $20.00. It was only a 100 card set which I sent 1-99 (didn't have an extra Coco) to Greg who I knew liked tennis. Then the 2024 set had 200 cards in the base (I also have a near set of the Sapphire too). I see the trend the 2025 300 card base. We'll see here too. It doesn't take much to get ranked on TCDB with tennis.

I know next to nothing about tennis. Of course, I also know next to nothing about lots of other sports. Baseball I understand and love.
ReplyDeleteI have never been a big tennis fan. I played some growing up but was not very good. Nice cards! Enjoy it all.
ReplyDeleteI kind of like the look, there are actual (sort of) backgrounds this time.
ReplyDeleteA shuttle bus for a card show? Forget that.
They need to leverage the actual backgrounds more in these photos. Would be nice to see players playing at Flushing Meadows, Roland Garros, on the grass at Wimbledon, etc.
ReplyDeleteI agree 100% true backgrounds would be so much better!
DeleteI wouldn't call myself a tennis fan, but I used to play a few times a year with friends or co-workers. It's probably been 5 to 7 years since I have picked up my racquet though. As for cards... I'll pick up singles if they're players I recognize.
