Saturday Shadow Shots: An interesting way to look at baseball cards.

I opted to stay home again this weekend. Finished up the Randy Johnson PC, and now I am mid sort of my Andruw Jones cards for the PC. I should finish that sort sometime today and get started on updating my excel checklist before inputting them into TCDB. If all goes well, my largest PC guy Chipper should find his way to the sorting table come Monday.

Let's get to some shadows. See if you see what I see. Probably not, but lmk what you do see in those shadows. Even if you got to tilt your head.

I could easily call this a bull frog again, but this go around I am going with on eof those gawdy rings the little old ladies like to wear just to be different.

I am going with a dragster that just lost the drivers front wheel.

Well it certainly isn't R2D2 and Cp3o out in the desert. Just for fun, I say one of those Scooby Doo monsters hanging out with a Sasquatch. Just one more card from 75' left so it will be tangling with a couple of 1976 Topps next week.

See ya later folks and have great weekend!

Now it is your turn. What do you see?

Sanford, FL card show

My Braves have lost way too many games recently. In just the last few days fell from 5 games back to 9.5. NOT GOOD boys, get it together!

Okay, now to the show. I didn't buy a lot per say. Made three deals. This was my first time visiting this show. Not sure I'll go again, but that doesn't mean I didn't score. My favorite deal of the day was this:

Eleven almost brand new binders fill with pages and cards! The pages were pretty much new, well 90% of them.  The dealer had 14 of them in all but I didn't like the other 3 binders (they weren't like new). These are just like the ones I get directly from BCW, blue, instead of black, but that is okay. He was asking $10.00 for them. I got them for $7.00 a piece. The binders and pages well worth the price. I was figuring the cards were probably going to be garbage and some were, but no sir..... some were not.

Like these.

Even buybacks (these weren't the only buyback purchases of the day either).

Bunches of the stickers which were needs. And a new to me Braves card.

World Series inserts.

Lots of inserts.

More needed stickers.

Even some Presidents for that binder too. As you can see there was some decent cards within those binders adding to the super good deal. This was the last purchase of the day. Even used the dealer's dolly to load them up and take them to the vehicle.

I'll hit the first 2 purchases Monday.

Wacky Wednesday

How about we get right to the interesting cards for this week. But before I forget, BCW has been running 20% off all month long on pages. With only a few days left in the month I figured I'd give them a pimp but for your benefit. I use a ton (literally) of 9 pocket pages. Normally, I order enough (a case) to get the cost down to $15 and change for a 100 count box with the help of Matt's 10% discount. Yeah, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get some for the 20% off bringing that cost down to $13.00 and change. Pretty sure the discount applies to binders too, but with the Sanford and the Webster card show posts coming up you'll see why I didn't need any of those.

Upper Deck had a tremendous amount of great cards back in the day. Good ole Bert above card made this binder on the front and back of his card.

Tomorrow starts the Sanford, FL card show goodies.

Ormond: PC guys

Top of the day to ya, hope it was a guud one. :) Okay that's my humor for now.

Pretty sure all of the shiny cards above came out of the dime boxes at the shop.

I believe most of the cards below came out of the dollar boxes, although I got them discounted of course.

This wraps up the last trip (April) to Ormond. I am thinking I might run over there this Saturday. Meanwhile I will get to the April Sanford card show starting Thursday.

Have a fantastic night and an even better tomorrow!

Memorial Day: Remember the Fallen

No cards today. Just a reminder that thanking a veteran today is not the best thing to do. Albeit they'll always deserve being thanked, just not on this day. Today is the day to remember those BRAVE soldiers, sailors, and airmen who NEVER had the chance to become a veteran. They are the ones (and their families) who GAVE ALL. Many if not most veterans are or can be touchy today because they lost friends, brothers and sisters who didn't make it home often right in front of their very eyes. More somber than happy.

There are lots of ways to honor the fallen who gave everything so we could play with our baseball cards. Yes, I do have those Camo cards or a few sitting in my holi-date binder but I decided not to use them today.

You can fly your flag or wear a pin or hat. A common tradition on this day is to put flags on veteran grave sites at cemeteries. Many people have a cookout, but please if you do so remember those who didn't make it home..... they are why we can do what we do. BBQ does sound really good.

Saturday Shadow Shots

Good morning all! I am hanging out at the house today. Considered going to Ormond, decided not to last night. I also considered going to a Flea Market this morning, decided not to do that either. Nope, just going to finish up updating my Jeter PC and put them into 2 binders and on the shelf today. Looks like I have about 2 hundred Jeter dupes to pack up into the dupe boxes with several rookies in case some one out there wants to make a TRADE before I do so. My PC update is about to hit a SLOW DOWN" as I have a bunch of Braves that will need attention before moving on to updating those individual players PC's. Names like Randy Johnson huge PC (not a Brave but he is next on the list), Chipper my largest, Justice, and Andruw will slow things to a near halt.

Now let us guess what is in the shadows today. Four more from 75' after today before we move on to 1976.

Pretty sure I never really seen anything in this shadow, but kept it because it is a great shadow. Feel free to see what ever you see though.

I see a toilet seat with a bidet attachment.

Here I see a flower, maybe a long stem rose.

Have a great weekend folks!

More from Ormond: Odds and Ends. And TRIVIA

Let's get the Braves back to the win column. Now moving straight into the odds and ends pick ups from Ormond last month. I didn't go this month, but hey there's still a week left so who knows.

The first card Dylan Crews is a numbered parallel. Otherwise, no idea who these prospects are, but hey they'll be sitting in the rookies/prospect boxes.

Can't help but snag relic cards from dollar boxes, especially when I know it will be discounted in the end.

Closing out with some cards for my Miller binders.

Have a great night folks, and just to let y'all know, my brother and I didn't three-peat last night. We didn't even finish in the money. I blew the FINAL answer. The question was to put in chronological order these explorers according to their "famous" journey.

I am putting them in the correct order now.

Marco Polo, Columbus, Magellan, Lewis & Clark. (I crossed up the middle 2).

Wacky Wednesday

Here we go, hopefully my brother and I three-peat tonight. Fingers crossed. Recently, I've mentioned "completed sets" a couple of times. I got another 200 card one in today. The 2024 Topps Japan Edition. Won it on Ebay for a real good price. It is actually more LAME than the previous Topps Japan releases. Topps didn't put the iconic Japan logo they just used the word Japan. But, I needed the Braves and of course my PC guys, and rookies. In the end only 32 cards had no purpose for me. Why am I mentioning this now? I have decided that I'm probably not going to scan up all of the recent completions. I will show off the Braves at some point though. A few of you will get some in your next packages.

Now let's get to some "INTERESTING" cards.

There you go folks this weeks' Wacky inclusions.

Introducing for the the very first time.......(drum roll please)

Okay so maybe this isn't the very first time. My trip over to Ormond last month netted a handful or three of set build needs. Normally, I wouldn't scan them until I completed the sets. Then post it up proudly. I just got in 2 complete sets of Finest Flashbacks off of Ebay that I didn't scan. Why you ask? Fine....I'll tell ya then. I have apx 850 cards coming in from Sport Lots with the majority Finest set needs. That is a lot. So once I get those "organized" and into their binders I will scan up any recently acquired/completed sets.  Okay, now for the set build grabs from Ormond.

Not your everyday set build cards. Topps Tribute is a really pricey set and because I am cheap, (grabbing them out of the cheap boxes) I haven't completed a Tribute set in a long while. I have a good start on this recent set though. In fact I got all but one of my needed Braves in yesterday (off of Ebay). I still need Schwellenbach. I got outbid by snipe tonight on him. Oh well, I'll get him. I should be getting this week another Ebay win of some key star Tribute cards too. What is great is if they're dupes (and most are) it's okay because 90% chance they are PC guys.

Pretty sure those Chrome Blacks came out of the dime boxes. I forget now. Now for the pair of Stadium Club Orioles. Gunnar was the final card I needed to complete that set, so there's another set I need to get scanned up. The Holiday gets me down to just 14 more (not counting a dozen that will be in the Slots box).

Pretty soon in the coming weeks I'll be scanning my fanny off (sure I'll be sick of it quickly), good thing is that none of those recent sets are big sets. That is tolerable. I can handle it.......I can do it.

Behave, stay out of trouble, and don't run anybody over with your car (I guess that is the same as staying out of trouble and behaving.

P.S. You can use your truck though.....Just kidding. Have a good night.

It's Monday......

I'll just get this out there now, I've never had a problem with Mondays. Any day for that matter, they are all the same for the most part. Sure you do certain things on weekends that might not be feasible on a week day. One thing is true 7 days a week, and that is playing with baseball cards. I am messing (one way or another) with my cards everyday. I can't remember the last time I didn't touch a baseball card every day. Oh well, that is enough rambling to kick start the last trip I made to Ormond (and that was last month).

Just a quick one tonight highlighting the new to me Braves. Tomorrow I will do the Set Build pick ups and follow that up on Thursday with the odds and ends from that trip. I will post up the PC adds next Monday.

Later Gators!

Saturday SHADOW SHOTS

I was going to head over to Ormond today, but elected to get working on my PC update (J's). I have roughly 20 players included with several players having a high card count. Players like Jeter, Chipper, Andruw, Reggie, Randy Johnson, and even Joyner is up there.

Now let us peer into the shadows on the cardboard.

I see someone riding an animal.

A castle or ancient church.

I see Pikachu running.

Have a great weekend everybody!

April Tampa show: cards from Justin's boxes.

Last month has come and gone, but I do have pictures. After contemplating not going.... again to the Tamps show I went. Bound and determined I wasn't going to get sick again. I didn't,  yeah.... I did walk around twice and seen all that I needed to see and was about to hit the door when Justin finally showed up. He only had his case with just a few cards inside. He apparently was there for the "buying" opportunities. I get it, he does that. We chit chatted for a bit, and I was heading out the door and he offered to grab some boxes from his vehicle. They were mainly 3 row dollar boxes. Knowing for me it has to be 3 for a buck, then I'll grab quantity.  He only put out for the public a couple of boxes of mixed stuff after I quickly browsed them. He let me go through two 5 row boxes that hadn't been sorted or priced. Again mixed with all sports, but I found a couple of hundred baseball cards to bring home.

No, I didn't scan them all or even close. But I do have 7 scans for you tonight.

Didn't make a big dent in the RACE to #1 when it comes to Braves.

Oh look, there are the three dupes I picked up without knowing, and tried to giveaway last week. Only Bando was claimed by RJ. The 65' unmarked checklist, and the 54' Robinson just didn't make the cut I guess.

Some more for my set builds on the higher end of things.

Cards for the PC's.

Yet even more, but the shiny versions.

I even scooped an auto and a couple of relics although the Gonzalez, is not my PC Luis, so that one just goes into the random relic binder.

So I made the trip worthy of the drive, and best of all I didn't get sick. I followed this show up with a trip over to Ormond the next week and brought home a weeks' worth of posts.

Have a great night!

Wacky Wednesday

The last week has flown by for sure. My brother and I have back to back wins at trivia (keep in mind we only play every other week). I mowed the grass today, and I am entering my Ichiro cards into TCDB. Good day for sure.

I know a little heavy on the Nolan Ryan, but man how iconic is that first card.

Have a great night folks!

The Tampa card show. TWO scans

Pretty sure this was the last week of April, but either way close enough.

The above Hostess panels were my 2nd purchase of the day.  My first purchase

was from a dealer whom I have bought oddball stuff from a few times.

I scanned the back on purpose. It is the Nolan Ryan, and comes with card (of course), but also a poster. That was cool. Paid $5.00, which is a lot for me on an SLU. I was happy to do so. I also grabbed complete sets of 1991 Topps and 1992 both sealed for $2.00 each. Yes, you heard me $2.00 each. What was the catch?  They were the MICRO sets. I didn't need them, but for $2.00 why not. I also picked up a couple of those late 80's fleer miniature sets for $2.00 each as well.

I did make a third purchase and that was from Justin and those will get their own post Thursday.

Have a great night everybody!
