The Lincoln Files

Today just one for the Lincoln Files. No not one card..... one set. 1992 Donruss The Rookies set. 132 cards in the set. I won't show all of them but I did scan 6 of the cards plus the checklists front and back.

I like the green design on the Rookies set compared to the Blue of the base set. Back in 92 I must have opened 4 boxes of 1992 Donruss.

His Happy Days.

I had to throw in a Miller.

Surely, you didn't think I would pass on the only Brave in the set.

This Kent is cool. 1) In a Jays uniform, 2) bunting and , 3) sporting some hair out of the back of his helmet (kind of looks a lil curly too going down his jersey.

Lastly, Pedro.

I had this set delivered for a grand total of $2.30. (The seller actually paid $3.69 in postage, plus the bubble mailer. That comes out to a smidgen less than .0175 cents per card.

Cards from The Card Chop

This past week Steve from the blog The Card Chop, reached out after seeing a duplicate Aaron card I had, so I offered it up, and told him to just send what he thought would be fair from my want lists. I actually do like trading blind, most times. But then again, most of you already know that. These are what he sent me, with a note (at bottom).

 Lovin the color!

Some 94 Fleer I needed.

Oh look, The SP Maddux from 2015 Donruss. I guess Freddie isn't going to be alone now is he. (retorical question). Of course now I only need card #2 (Freeman DK), but because I need two of them, yesterdays' post is still spot-on, need two cards. LOL!

1994 Pinnacle Museum Collection.

1995 Pinnacle Museum Collection.

Way more than I expected for the 2015 Aaron baseball History card.

Steve threw this note in with the cards.

I like the sound of that! If you haven't checked out Steve's blog you should, some good reads there even if you're not a Braves fan.

Thanks a ton Steve, I look forward to a lot of back & forth.

Just Commons pick me ups!

I mentioned yesterday that I had gotten two mailers in, the first one came from JC. Really getting into the 2015 (so far). But the first cards of this post are from 2014 Stadium Club!

How awesome is that card?

And a great throwback uniform.

Already had one of these, but wanted two more, no one. This one is going into the Hall Worthy PC. the next one is for the T-shirt mini collection. 3 for 3 in awesomeness!

HOFer!

Pretty sure that is another throwback.

Scooped up two of these, one fo rthis team set, and the other for the Hall Worthy PC. Needless to say I was definitely happy with the 2014 Stadium Club.

Superman! Oh yeah, i don't collect them anymore, lol. Anyways 2015 Opening Day base set complete! Simmons also makes for a Shadow Shot card too! What do you see?

All but two of the Blue parallels, I may just finish my first colored parallel set this year (not counting 1993 Topps Gold). I didn't see Blue listed on Beckett, they did show an Opening Day Edition parallel. Does anyone know if this is it?

After seeing these on Nicks (dimebox) blog the other day, I was so stoked because I knew I had them on the way. I didn't know what they looked like until Nick put them out there.

Now Topps could take a NOTE here, lose the Franchise Flashback wording, and this would have made for an awesome set to be designed for every base card. That is creativity! Then again, if the entire set was of that design it may not seem as nice, but wither way it would be different from the flagship design, and that would be cool in itself!

How about some 2015 Donruss? A little similar to 2014, but different enough. The SP Freeman is a reflection on the 1981 Donruss set, but looks better for some reason. Now I only need two #2 (Freeman DK) and #493 Maddux 81 SP ..... or do I? Wait til tomorrow to find out.

While browsing around JC, noticed he restocked his 2015 Topps Gold, so I grabbed two more. I had also picked up another Yount I needed (2014 Stadium Club), but you will see that whenever I show off my Birthday Boys, as least Yount anyways.
Great mailer for sure!

Franken Friday

Yep, It's that time of the week where I show off  the next 3 pages in my Franken-Set which is made up entirely from doubles. Once a card is placed in the slot it is permanent. One of these days, I will start a second Franken-Set and choose cards for each slot. But for now, I say let's get to it.

Page 70: 7/9

A little of everything here. A HOFer, Murphy, an 80s card, Score, Topps, UD, and Donruss, a Rookie, and no repeat sets or players yet. Best of all is the center card with Gallagher wearing his Mets uniform on his Braves card.

Page 71: 8/9

Another great page. Cards from 5 decades, vintage 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s, Rookie Cup, two HOFers, no repeat players and sets, and a team card. Cool shot of the Mad Hungarian too!

Page 72: 7/9

Again, three straight great pages. Another team card, cards from 4 decades 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s, no repeat players or sets, Score, Topps, and Donruss, plus a HOfer (which could also be called a rookie card too), but there is a Rookie card already.

Yes indeed, I am pleased thus far with these three pages, now to just get those missing numbers. I think I am going to experiment and grab a few of the missing cards by checking Beckett for Braves and simultaneously putting in the missing numbers, then go over to Just Commons and grab some up (2 each of course).

Have a great weekend. I got two nice mailers today and will highlight each this weekend.

Cya!

Gifts from afar

Recently had I had reached out to CynicalBuddha (the yount collector) about a comment he had left on Tony L's (off hiatus baseball) blog about a program I had sent. I let mark know that I still had another of those programs he was was interested. He was and off to Alaska it went. The return for the program came in the other day and here is what I got.

A Brave sporting card with an autograph, very cool indeed. My collection is hurting when it comes to autos, relics, and especially Braves!

2015 Rainbow parallel I needed.

And oh wow, another Braves autograph card.

Thanks Mike. Always appreciative for some autos!

Wacky Wednesday

That's right, hitting on an old post theme here. I'm not sure It's ready for every Wednesday at least not until another huge haul. But for a couple of weeks it is back.

Wacky Wednesday's were one of my regular weekly posts where I posted some cards that I found interesting in some way or another. It could have been a wacky shot or just something odd about the card. Tonight, I bring you 7 cards that I find obscure or whatever my twisted mind seen as I looked at the card.

Can you see the oddity? I hope so, because Todd certainly can't. Why in the world would they photo shop his eyes out? That isn't just his cap shadowing his eyes, they messed with it.

Just doesn't look like home plate to me. I know it is, I think. LOL!

Check out that right brow, looks as if it was braided into his hair.

I may have posted this one before. My question now is why on Game Day?

What I find odd/different here is the photogs angle, in the dugout. Definitely not your everyday cardboard.

We've all seen bats that bend, but this one may be made out of rubber.

I want to say that is a water bottle, but I'm not sure nor do I get the why. It appears to be a game day photo.

Hopefully you enjoyed this old time theme. See ya next Wednesday with 7 more.
